    To our Japanese ears, katakana versions of western words sound nicer, fancier, or more fashionable than the corresponding Japanese words.
    I guess this is probably why the cake baker named his carrot-flavored cake "carrot cake" (キャロットケーキ) instead of "ninjin cake" (にんじんけーき)

    Jakarta and jagaimo are pretty similiar and easy to remember.. but as an indonesian i just want to say that the danish called jakarta as batavia at that time

    3:33 The キャ in 「キャロットケーキ」sounds like ケ to me. Is this true or am I not hearing this correctly? 🤔
    I know the ヶ in "一ヶ月" is pronounced like か, so I know sometimes かな doesn't always match. (just like in English)
