Sorry for the ugly graphics in DCS, I was playing the "Liberation" mod in VR and it was kicking my PCs butt, so I ditched a bit of eye candy, forgot to pump the graphics back for this video as I was focused on the start-up procedures
BMS Falcon is the definitive study sim. Probably the greatest flight simulator, combat simulator and weapons delivery simulator of all time. Join an online squadron and this is as real as it gets.
90% of what he is talking about is with allot of the switches already being flipped for you during start up which is only a short part of your flight. But he does make a point with there being little to no pentatly for screwing up.
Crazy how much detail goes into a free* mod for a 1998 game compared to a newer bigger title such as dcs although eventually dcs will get more features in the falcon (or viper). edit: been liking your content lately keep up the good work. (:
Hey man, thanks for the kind words. Really appreciate it. And yeah, DCS will eventually get more features, but the boys at BMS may even catch up at this rate! They only have a single aircraft to worry about lol
Bruh this was 2 years ago and it was just released as a WIP. You don't think they magically make a realistic aircraft in a few months? Falcon BMS developers are working on for years and still couldn't add a realistic flight physic and graphics
Personally I'm always going to side with BMS/Falcon 4.0 because of its insane Dynamic Campaign. The aircraft being as detailed as it is is just a benefit.
DCS is a sandbox, only maps+plane no "milsim" no "gameplay", all for a fee. FALCON BMS is simulation, military campagn long term, and is a MILSIM. and have better model of fligh. so DCS is for the exhilarating obsessed with Tom Cruise and the f 18, and graphic. Falcon It's for milsim air force geeks.
FOLLOW THE CHECKLIST ON YOUR LEFT KNEEPAD!!! You are doing waaay too much before you hit the JFS. Why? Follow the kneepad, stick to procedure. Anti Ice switch ON and you're like... 20% of the way to getting rolling.
Given that DCS is a simulator built to fly many aircraft (even rotor-based aircraft), it makes sense that the complexity of the F-16 is not going to compare anywhere near the complexity on Falcon 4.0's mods such as BMS, given that BMS is designed entirely around the one single aircraft. Sure you can kinda cheat by trying to fly another aircraft in BMS but it is buggy and unreliable and in no where compares to the complexity between aircraft of DCS. If I wanted to fly the Viper and get down and dirty in a real live campaign with a VFW Campaign, BMS will always be unparaelled (at least for the forseeable future.) If you want an immersive simulation that has all the visual/audial aspects of flying aircraft and dogfighting, DCS is the way to go.
FLCS Bit is mandatory in BMS. if you fail to perform it you might develop inflight failure. (it can actually also fail on the BIT, then you need to follow the checklist, which pretty much tells you to run it again).
Thanks for the comment! Has that been implemented in update .1? Because on the BMS 4.35 -1 manual, change 3.00, page 174 it reads: "Both the FLCS bit & DBU are eye candy in BMS and have no consequences if you skip them."
@@XCHECK interesting.. might have been changed. because in 4.34 it was defined that if you do not run the FLCS bit you have a certain percentage for FLCS fault in-flight. 4.34 also introduced fuel totalizer inaccuracy with increasing chance of engine flame-out below 400lbs. it's those small details that makes DCS feel so bland compared the BMS. However, As I've said many many times in the past 3 years, no VR, no fly. so my BMS is a little rusty.
@@uriba107 Huh, that is very interesting, will jave to dig a bit deeper because I find it so odd that they would downgrade that simulation. And yeah! I feel you, always xome back to DCS for VR! Question going around about the DCS F-16's turn rate and acceleration under g's. Wag's and co say the performance is spot on, real F-16 drivers say it's too sluggish in the turn, bleeds too much energy and does not accelerate under g the way the real F-16 does.
People need to keep in mind it's not "Wag's and Co". They are asking their own F-16 pilots and SME's. There's bound to be conflicting views, but it's not like it's only actual pilots vs non-pilots.
The F16 flight performance is much more true to life in Falcon than DCS, I'm thinking it has something to do with how DCS engine manages the flight model. There has been way more F16 pilots giving input into BMS than DCS over the years. Wags and Co are wrong though they should take the criticism and fix it instead of always defending, the A10 had a long standing flight performance issue as well it took years for ED to mostly fix it.
idk about dcs but bms has the flight model data//performance from nasa's testing with the f-16 airframe and i have a lot of f-16 drivers confirming that it is very accurate(both reguarding to lockheed training sims and actual aircraft performance)
I think the main difference is that BMS really makes you feel like the aircraft you're in can break and then you just cost the taxpayers millions of dollars.
Started BMS recently, it is SO MUCH more realistic and difficult (sometimes frustrating difficult, and i mean in terms of creating a simple mission) than DCS that actually makes DCS feel like a simcade. Problem are the graphics and details like the ground physics (like when you taxi) are horrible in BMS, so horrible that i always end up back in DCS. (note i am using only VR).
