Great song never got enough airplay
Great!!
❤ this song!
This was also covered by Shalamar on Their Debut Album Uptown Festival where they sang a Medley Of Motown Songs. It was also covered by The UK Girl Group Banarama who as many of you know were very heavily influenced by Motown who kicked the Door open for every Girl Group from The UK that came after them from The Spice Girls, The All-Saints, Sugababes as well as Girls Aloud.
cut out most of the intro!
the girl on the right looks like one time velvelette and later a vandella BETTY KELLY
Betty was already in the Vandellas by the time this song was recorded and they did this TV show.
Aces mate great footage well done finding this great share
Sorry, Bananarama, but this is how it's done.
Cheers for this I hope you are doing well but I am wondering you have the cheater by bob kuban and the in men on American bandstand I know it exists as I've seen clips just not the whole thing
Great track, makes the copiers seem lame
I wonder who the guys are playing instruments in the background?
They were just probably session Musicians. As you know the "Real" Musicians were The Funk Brothers. Chances are that Benny "Papa Zita" Benjamin was playing Drums, Jack Ashford on Percussion and James Jamerson playing Bass. This Song was later covred by Banarama who were the first successful Girlband in The UK who some people feel kicked the door open for every Girlband from the UK that came after them most notably The Spice Girls.
This was also covered by Banarama who are the most Successful Girl Band to come out of the UK and the only one to do American bandstand. They kicked the door open for every Girlband that came after them these past 35 years. They and The Contours were the most overlooked Groups at Motown.
I know Cal recruited two new members to continue the group when the original Velvelettes were either unable to continue or chose not to continue at the time, but this incarnation of The Velvelettes just did not fit together well. They don’t jive like the other Motown girl groups or the original lineup of The Velvelettes.
@mysky I have met all of the original Velvelettes and I thought this trio here made up of Cal Street, Annette McMillian and Gail Sonders looked great on television.
Great clip, great song, but it has to be said ; a really lackluster performance.
I think its a great performance!.. The Supremes wouldn't have been able to do this choreography!
Love the recording, love the choreography, but I agree. They aren't connecting to the audience or the camera. There is no charisma. As for whether or not the Supremes could've done the choreography? Yes, they could have, and smiling the entire time while flirting with the audience.
