So thankful you kept the grassed rolling terrace! The harmony looking up the street along that terrace is beautiful, along with the restful frame setting off the cottage garden instead of diluting it.
Love the autumnal garden idea. Blush nandinas are a really vibrant red. The rolling lawn with the roses sounds wonderful but I wouldn't put roses in the middle. I think that would block the eye. Roses on the sides with the green space in between would lead the eye to the terrace above.
I think the grass as you enter gives the eye a rest and makes your LV artistic garden pop!! I'm sure it will soon be lush and happy from your tender loving care Linda!
I’m a person who can never have too many plants, but the grass provides a rest for your eye and allows the rest of your garden to shine. You need to keep the grass to blend in your yard with the neighbors and to keep your yard from looking to cluttered. It turned out so pretty.
Your garden is growing beautifully. We all need ‘villages of pure joy’. Thank you, from Australia. I grow sedums here too and will find some of the Pure Joy variety. I love all your videos and the work you and Stewart do is wonderful.
Yes I like leaving grass green in front elevation and also like the fall color plants on right sidewalk side of house… breathtaking garden Linda🌵🪴🌵Diane 🥰 from Tesas
Leave the grass - it firmly integrates you into your neighborhood and provides a backdrop to the riot of plants in the garden above. The boxwoods bordering the steps hint at what's above and entices me up the steps to see all the fun. You now have the perfect balance - a meal can't be all desert.
You remind me of my 1st husband's Aunt. She loved her flowers and her veg garden. Ever time I was at her home we walked the garden and she would gave me little plants from her many.
I think you should absolutely overseed the grassy hill area. The vista of lush green grass of your neighbours is lovely and makes the garden area even more attractive
One BIG advantage of leaving the Bermuda grass on the slopes is it will help prevent erosion on the incline. I think it will look great and blend well with the neighbor's yards.
Wow, have been watching from the start. What a transformation! Love it. and I also love the home across the street with the double balcony. Love the tree lined streets, I can see now why you fell in love with the area. I agree with some others that you should leave the front grass. since all the neighbors have grass it will blend in with the neighborhood.
Wow! Things are looking so good. I like how great the trees look now that they are leafing out! What an amazing change to your corner of the world!! :). You will have privacy for the social patio and wind blocking too.
I just love the way you and Stuart interact with each other. Love his voice and he seems like he's such a gentle soul. Plus I love all that your doing to your new garden. You are responsible for getting me started on our garden and wanting to learn more and more. My husband planted 1100 tulips because of me seeing your tulips> We have so many people stop and admire our front garden. Tulips and 50 small roses bushes in Red and White and y favorite Blue Salvia on each end of the row of White roses and at the end of the Red roses. My garden is beautiful because of what i learned from you Linda. Thank you and bless you. Norma
Linda I have been watching your videos for ages from Australia and just noticed I hadn’t subscribed so apologise for that. Love seeing your new garden evolve. So exciting to share in a brand new garden, especially the hard scape which is usually already in place in other gardens. You are so practical and love your thriftiness as it speaks to so many like myself who adore the garden but on a limited budget. Keep up the good work and I wouldn’t change a thing you do. I so look forward to your frequent videos. Appreciate you and Stuart for all the hard work of presenting videos for our info and enjoyment. Blessings. Julie 🦘
Another Australian follower here 👋. So many great ideas in these videos that I often stop the video midway to go and make some changes in the garden, then come back to watch more!
Linda I think you need a big bunny rabbit like you had in your old garden. Every cottage garden needs a rabbit to watch over everything! You also need a large bird bath or a fountain for some sound to drown out sound and to.provide water for the birds, butterflies, and bees! Everything looks just lovely. I am going to duplicate you idea of the bricks and stepping stones. It looks so nice ! I look forward to seeing you and Stewart each and every time that you take time from your day to make a video for our enjoyment!
I still cannot get over how quickly you got this gorgeous garden together!! You're amazing and your helpers are, too! I vote YES to continue the fall corner to the unplanted area. I am watching the Weather Channel and there are tornado warnings in Oklahoma City. Prayers that you don't have any bad weather!!🙏❤ Love from West Tennessee!!
Linda, what would you think of planting your roses in semi-circles next to the sidewalk? It would add a little bit of balance to the grass slope and the upper garden, plus passers-by could enjoy the fragrance.
Love the color blocking of the green Bermuda grass. It provides a space for the eyes to rest. I live in zone 7B and Bermuda is a great source for my area too!!
Can't wait to see what you do with your slope. The perennials are laid out beautifully. I live on a significant hill so all the perimeter gardens around the house and along the driveway are sloped or terraced. Mature elm and black walnut create the woodland. To garden on a slope you need to be quite a gymnast 😅. I've used native grasses, allium, red bud trees, lungwort, polmonium and hosta.
Here is a tip that worked really well for me: I spray painted my square stepping stones a flat brown so that they blend right in with the mulch. It’s been several years and I’ve never had to repaint them 😊
Have you thought about replacing your blinds in your bath with something grayish in color instead of white? Might be a softer look from the outside. My two cents of course. I’m loving this transformation! Everything is just so lovely 🥰🥰🥰
I am with you on that, Tracy! It is taking something away from the overall color and feel of the cottage garden. I have the same problem at my home. I need to get on that.
I feel the same way about the ledges/sills under the windows. When Stuart pulls back and gives a full view of the front of the house, all I notice are the window ledges.
Continuation of your Autumn Corner is a wonderful idea! By planting a various of shrubs along the edge will give you more privacy from people walking past. Nice to meet the neighbours, but privacy is nice to have as well!
The transformation is incredible. I like the grass on the hill, it's more cohesive with the rest of the street. I'm so jealous of the agapanthus, it doesn't work very well in CT zone 6. This is reminding me of the beautiful garden with the appletini door. 😍
If I was to plant a garden so close to the street where you plan to put those roses. Someone would come along in the night and take them. We are installing a very high perimeter fence to counteract this. I have lost count of how many roses I've lost. Some were really difficult to find . And we live in a nice neighborhood, they've even dug up established planting during the day when I was at work. Its unbelievable that happens. I am looking forward to planting something very special when our garden is finally secure .😊 your new garden is looking good, expectations are high.....what fun !
I am loving the whole yard! Frieda the frog is guarding the pinecone pillars.. :) Yes to the Autumn corner and continuing it around, including the obsession nandina to give it that fall color palate. I also believe you will enjoy plants that hold their leaves during the fall and winter months.
Linda you're so cute! I just adore how the front garden is shaping up, I can see your cottage inspired (but not overly cottagey) vision. Every year I say to my husband "that's it really I'm not adding or moving anything else around" he just side eyes me like "ok, suuuuuurrreee" 🤣Why won't I ever admit it... a garden is NEVER done.
I vote yes to continue the Lagustrum and barberry around your front yard because it would continue the flow you've got going that is so beautiful! Great job Linda you're very talented and it has been fun watching you transform your new yard! Great ideas! Also, I'm happy to hear that you decided to leave the grass because I do feel like it frames your garden and keeps the flow going down the street. So many decisions, I admire you that you don't get overwhelmed,,,😂
Things are looking great! I think leaving the hills grassy will look like a dramatic green carpet leading up to the grand garden and will be popular with neighbors who might like the idea of the continuity up and down the street from a historical and traditional perspective.
Yes on the ideas for the autumnal corner. Barberry and lagustrom. The nandina too. Love the combo. I think the magnolia is perfect where is is. Especially considering how you like to create more sculptural style with the trees.
It's me again! Forgot to tell you that I got two Chinese Snowball Viburnums and I planted one today! I think you should double Stewart's fun and plant another in the back yard!!!😊 And,yes to keeping the grass in front!
Wow your garden is looking so good. Can't believe how it changes from each video. I love the idea of keeping the grass in the front as it will add a touch of softness. Your energy inspires me so much!
Hi Linda from Australia, I was wondering are you able to grow Gardenias in your zone. Such a pretty flower with a divine fragrance. Your garden is a work of art😊
The front is beautiful; however, I'm just amazed how all those large trees have adapted so well to the magic planting everyone achieved. Love from Australia.
Thank you for reminding us to read the comments. I get so excited listening to your channel on your journey. Thank you for sharing. I have learned so much from you in the last 5 years as I have started my garden when I retired, before then no flowerbeds at all. It's a learning pross and so much joy! Thank you! Peggy from El Reno, Oklahoma
Wow..that wind! Loving all of the garden, already so pretty...your eye for placement is beyond. So relaxing, to watch you and Stuart...both of you, are a match when it is being filmed...love❤
Everything is coming along beautifully. I agree about keeping the grass. I lived for several decades in southern AZ and it was our experience that Bermuda grass grew effortlessly with very minimal water or feeding etc. And it tended to "cool" the yard and surrounding landscaped areas. And it looks nice once it fills in. Anyway, there is my two cents.
I love to see you so excited about the garden. It will be and probably already is so fun to watch everything budding out while you are enjoying a cocktail or your coffee on your front patio. It’s looking beautiful. 😊
It amazes me what flowers, bushes can do for a yard. I absolutely LOVE what you are doing & I am absorbing it all - to learn more. We purchased a house in 2009 & did not move into it for little over a yr later. We purchased it dirty, trash, weeds & all. The back yd could not be mowed until cleaned out weeds & trash. But I had so much fun planting flower beds, each yr i enlarged them :) and bushes & veg. garden. The neighbours & people would stop to visit & comment & i had so much fun meeting people, especially after living in the country w/no neighbours. We lived there until spring 2021 & now i am gradually trying to do the same in our new yd. But the new owners were not into flowers as i am --- we all are different.
Love the plan of keeping the grass and beautiful soft pink roses spilling down from the top! I dream of a cottage garden and I am working towards that goal so thank you for the inspiration Linda.
Good morning Linda, just an idea, what about a few bricks together as stepping stones. They would break up so many larger stones.
Yes, the grass is needed. The eye needs a place of rest in a garden. It’s coming along so beautifully!
So thankful you kept the grassed rolling terrace! The harmony looking up the street along that terrace is beautiful, along with the restful frame setting off the cottage garden instead of diluting it.
My "new" garden is nine years old and I am still changing and planting and rearranging things. It's never finish. Love your garden Linda.
@@alcg3981 my next project is a pondless waterfall. 😁

Yes! The grass will make a frame and a place of rest for the eyes!!!!
What fun to watch your walk abouts and see the plants taking hold. I can feel your excitement. Gardening truly is therapy.
Yes leave the grass. I think it will frame your garden beautifully!!
What a magical garden you’ve already created💚
A gazing ball opposite your bird bath would be magnificent💫
Yes to the grass on the slope. It will be perfect to frame the whole view of the cottage, and let the plant colors pop.
The green block of Bermuda grass also creates connectivity with your neighbors😊
Yes, leave some grass and put in the roses. Beautiful!
Happy to hear you are keeping the grass.
You remind me of my 1st husband's Aunt. She loved her flowers and her veg garden. Ever time I was at her home we walked the garden and she would gave me little plants from her many.

Thanks Linda . I love your Video and the way you dress.❤❤❤

I can just imagine the future in the garden when the trees and shrubs are mature and block a lot of that wind. How peaceful the garden will be.

I think the rolling lawn and the roses are going to be beautiful! Everything else is looking so great. From Sag Harbor, NY 😊
The shades of green in your garden are a vision. I love them and they are ever inspiring. ❤

Linda I can’t picture the roses but you are great at envisioning plans. Lawn on the small front hill will look great. Love the shirt
I look forward to hearing about the Hapi-Gro info. We have always LOVED using it as a soil enhancer/mulch.
I've requested my library to buy copies of the cottage garden book.
The pinecones look great with the base stone!
Love an autumnal corner.
Its just amazing how you remember all the names of all the plants! Love all your great tips and ideas ❤️ Another great Wednesday walk about 🌺🌺🌺
I am really liking Southern Living perennials
A small water fountain in the backyard to block out the sound from the street.
If this is looking so spectacular can’t wait what you’ll to do the backyard ❤
Love everything..yes love the grass it matches the rest of the street. All I can say is YOU GO GIRL ❤
Absolutely love your plan for leaving the grass on your sloped hill along with creating a border of roses at the front of your English garden.💚
