Anna Milgram is incompetent and uniformed as she wants to reduce access to healthcare for vulnerable populations by increasing telemedicine restrictions. She needs to be worried about the opioid epidemic and the fentanyl coming across the border rather than putting restrictions on how physicians practice medicine. Last I checked she was not a medical doctor. She is directly contributing to increase deaths due to fentanyl by refusing to allow suboxone to be prescribed via telemedicine.
This "crisis" wouldn't be anywhere near as bad if doctors hadn't stupidly decided to take people's medications away from them in the first place. There are so many people in this country that need to take opioids (and do so responsibly) for a vast number of legitimate reasons and doctors decided to take them away without adequately replacing them and just expected their patients to suffer endlessly because of their health issues. Desperate people do desperate things and when their health is at stake, they'll take the risk of getting their medication any way they can. The government and doctors in this country started this mess with their own blatant stupidity and now it's much worse than it was originally.
This is 100% true and there are other factors not even being considered as to why this became the problem that it is. It could’ve been handled much better but instead the powers to be wanted chaos and chaos is what ensued.
For every person I know that died from a fentynal overdose, there are ten people I know that died from a blood infection because they mutilated themselves with dull needles and did not take care of themselves. That is a statistic we should discuss because it isn't just happening in my neighborhood.
This woman is a politician rather than someone do the work, what is Mexico do for US? She is just dodging questions, this attitude is what allow the drug comes, “not my problem”
I agree, she doesn't answer the question, but is it not a US issue first? What is done to prevent Americans to sell and consume this awful crap in the first place?
Let’s ponder this for a minute. If the cartels were running the country than the labs, they create, a duplicate of oxycodone would not be shut down. So just sit on that for a minute and think about it. Don’t you think if the cartels were all powerful they would be running those labs and operating them at full capacity? A pill that is worth $30 a pop? Come on do the math on that and then wonder why that’s not happening. They may have a lot of power but no, they are not ALL powerful. Mexico literally generates hardly any pain medicine. Again, if the cartels have power, they would have every lab they’re kicking off at full capacity. They may not man them with chemists, but I promise you they have smart enough people to run them.
The per capita ratio is higher here in British Columbia than in the USA. 2,000 deaths in a 5 million population, projects to 136,000 per year, versus 110,000
We know how to put a company out of business. Sell their products at a lower price than the cost of production. We can’t control that which is out of our control. But we are more than capable of cutthroat business practices. And if we “corner the market”, we can insure that the product doesn’t have hidden ingredients. I’m not advocating for drug use. I’m advocating for the most safe and effective way to reduce the risk of accidental death and a peaceful resolution of an unending war. The solution is not in their hands, it’s in ours.
Good reporting and an interesting conversation about a serious problem. It could be that companies that provide information related to fentanyl are made immune to penalties.
Few months ago I was returning from Mexico on a bus , for some random mysterious case the officers at the border did not inspect anybody's luggage and or documents as they supposed to . Don't know if that happens regularly at the Brownsville entry.
She is passing legislation to make it harder for chronic pain patients to have access for treatment. She has put limits on how much drug companies can produce. Cutting off patients who use their medications responsibly. She’s under investigation.
FYI, some drug organizations are starting to develop something worse than fentanyl. It’s a new drug don’t know what it’s called but from what I understand it’s more addictive, more potent and more strong.
When you opened the door after the Vietnam war and the addiction our soldiers came home with you set your self up. The cocaine / crack is a mental addiction and the victims were poor people and inner city communities. With government knowledge of distribution. Oxycontin is a physical addiction and was not controlled in the beginning but also with full knowledge of its potential devastating effect allowed distribution. We are now reaping what we have sown. And all with profit at the center of the drug market.
He is mostly right on all parts. Take a look at ketamine infusion as one option. We all know that that works for PTSD as well as chronic pain patients yet insurance is not being made to pay for it. Anything that works? Insurance is not going to pay for it yet nobody at the federal level hold their feet to the fire. They don’t want a solution like that. They want them to go to the streets and to purchase things that they know are deadly simply to say we have a clean slate. We are the DEA we are above that. When in fact, they are the reason that the majority of these Americans are dying Street. It’s a pathetic, cover up with a lack of ability to look outside of the box and see what truly is going on. It’s so sickening on so many levels. Not just for veterans, but for elderly women as well.
With traditional pensions being applied to the last of benefit holders, inflation steadily increasing, a labor pool shrinking, a drastic employment environment shift pending regarding AI, with multiple active wars and several proxy wars ongoing, and a multitude of atypical incidents having already occurred or theoretically possible, THIS is an issue we simply CAN'T allow to continue.
People exercise coping mechanisms. What are the indications that those coping mechanisms are rising? Why are they rising? We are dealing with a fatigued population. Arguing about the cause is acceptable, but honesty about an obvious indicator is necessary. Nobody wakes up one bright morning and says, "Hey, I'm going to do some experimentation today. My life is going so absolutely well that 'F_$& it', I am going to try something harder than heroin.'
The so called precursor chemicals refers to the fact that fentanyl is the precursor chemical for tetracycline LED manufacture process factories for streetlights and flashlights in America. The real danger is fentanyl is easy to make from common chemicals. The fentanyl is a precursor for oxycodone tetracycline LED manufacture process factories in China. The Americans are refusing to put fentanyl on the schedule one controlled substance list to help shutdown fentanyl factories in China.
BS biology BA chemistry MA toxicology environmental industrial toxicology and environmental restoration certified radiation safety State of California. LED manufacture process factories are a serious and persistent manufacturing process factories in need of elimination by the EPA mission under treaty enforcement and obligations.
The streetlight manufacturing precursor is fentanyl and American streetlight manufacturing companies produce millions of pounds of fentanyl per week and Congress repeatedly refused to put fentanyl on the schedule one controlled substance list. Tetracycline LED manufacture process is outside normal legal manufacture process.
We are all suffering, not just you fellow American neighbors. It would be much easier for us to stop the cartels if the USA could stop arming them!!! somebody please tell Anne Milgram to get back at me!!!
I don't watch MSM but this topic is an interest of mine seeing as how the homeless population is growing in California and one of the reasons is this drug. I thought the interviewer asked some good and tough questions, I am not satisfied with the answers here but there is only so much she can say.
100 percent going about this the wrong way. I can't even believe we are back to where we started. As long as America continues to send our biz to countries like India while China invests in Mexico via fentanyl AND legitimate business, we will not win. Secondly, demand. So we are now back to saying it's only a supply focus??? Insanity. Partner with Mexico and invest in our partners to build their economy and empower these people in other ways. Lastly, if you think that Mexico is the only way, you and I both know that's not true so why are you attacking low hanging fruit vs China, Russia, the real problem? Back to attacking the users.
Read above comments to your suggestion, and maybe go back to a few book readings take some time to understand the complexities of the situation, and then come back to the argument with a little bit better ammunition.
The DEA Director doesn't seem to be very proud of "her" ability to live as a woman, while being born a biological male. I wonder how the lgbtq community feels about her unwillingness to come out as a transexual.
That is a reply that has not been thawed out, reeks of lack of education, not sustainable, not realistic, and quite honestly, it would be best if you didn’t comment at all. Do you realize how many people have been locked up and prosecuted since all of this started? I suggest you look at your statistics and rethink your answer.

Mexican governments corrupt af won’t co-operate with them & the US don’t even blame them either
Anne keeps evading the question what about the Mexican President, is the Mexican President running the country or else he cartels
We all know which entity controls Mexico.
Why should the Mexican government care about fatal overdoses of white trash north of the border?
that's a US problem

Revoke section 230 so Americans can sue social media and this problem will solve itself.

carfentanyl is probably the larger issue. Fentanyl doesn't make as much sense for smugglers.

Thw way he sipped his coffee after saying that it was a legal drug had me dying laughing. Lol

"We've had a drug problem in this country for 50 years"
NBC Talking Head
DEA, 50 years old.
If doses were regulated and available in safe portions, that would certainly help
The lack of comments is proportionable to the lack of wisdom of USA Citizens on what the DEA has actually done.
But why dont you do it i live in mexico and is really damgerous

You have got to be kidding me. The doors are literally busting at the seams. There have been over 28,000 arrests just from the start of this year.
