    In tornado prone areas, building codes must be updated and made of stronger, sturdier material. There is no reason to delay safer and life saving structures. No excuses. Period. This is occurring way too often to ignore the inevitable.

      The building codes already address high winds. Short of a completely underground building there isn't much you can do. The way tornadoes spin winds around make even commercial structures, like the YMCA built with "stronger" materials and designed to carry heavier loads still don't stand a chance. Once a window breaks and air pressure can change is how the house either collapses due to drops or almost explode with increases in air pressure.

I had one close to my house in 2010 and I was in the tub inside the house and praying like I never prayed before!!! 😁Yeah, basements help but once you get out of there, everything is leveled. Here in OKlahoma there are not basements. It is weird bcse I came from Virginia and there are basements there too! For being a tornado alley I would think that the codes would be that every house should have a bunker under the house, inside the house, or garage. And made it affordable for everyone who has a house. I personally do not have one, but I am moving out of the country this year. My heart can't take the scares every year..🤔

Same with tree damage and the cars overturned and tumbled through parking lots. Just a very small tight vortex of converging rotating wind. A car cannot sit stable in such a small area of convergence and rapid instantaneous wind direction changes.

    I hope those people who keep playing with our weather are happy. They pump chemicals into our atmosphere without caring who they hurt.
    I 🙏 no one died. Every day I pray for people who lose their homes to this madness. That they will have a safe place to sleep and food to eat. My heart 💔 for the folks in Andover tonight.

      The majority looks like high end EF-2 to low end EF-3 But a few structures exhibit all exterior walls being wiped clean which may earn it EF-4 status.

      Actually, insurance adjusters are "coming soon" and people had better NOT sign anything yet before a full damage assessment has been done.

    We can engineer homes to withstand these events. The issue is people have a preconception of what a home should look like.

    • @scarpfish
      @scarpfish 2 роки тому

      No, the issue is that said reinforcing would push the homes (which are already expensive enough) out of many people's price range.

      I grew up on McCandless Rd. As far as I know there was only wind damage and some debris but no structural damage. Woodard mercantile has damage and John's animal world is completely destroyed.
      Edit: this is in regards to south mccandless rd. I'm unsure about north mccandless.
