We run gas trucks so I don't have to worry about it. I would assume the diesel guys do use additives, though. Their trucks never shut off while they are out.
I really love plowing commercial properties as long as I don't have to deal with a property management company. However, I feel like with the equipment we have, it's better to plow residential driveways. That's an excellent question! Thanks for the comment.
Thank you! Yeah, that's a good question. First, I would put some detailed thought into what you want your business to look like (maybe the size of operation, employees, part-time, full-time). When you have an idea of what it might look like. Tell everyone you know you are starting it. Start Facebook page, Google my business that stuff is free. Network with other local landscapers... Try to land some work organically to start. Buy equipment that will work for your jobs. Once you are out there, it'll come much easier, because people will see you. Do excellent work, and put your name and logo on your truck when starting. Most importantly, it's tough! Don't give up!!! There will be bad days and good ones.

you see next weeks forcast? successfull people /companies all carry long debt. for example Google has 15billion in debt but could easily pay it with a free cash flow of 67billion annually. apple has 100billion debt and is a cash machine. search inflation vs low interest debt. you need two things: a good rate and make more in the future. inflation will handle the rest. last thing you want to do is prepay a mortgage, use it to grow company.

That's the way to go! The less shoveling, the better. My wife does a fantastic job, though, for what we have.

Well, the snow has been non-stop. We plow around 18 accounts I believe.
Do you put a fuel additive in to prevent fuel from gelling when it is that cold?

How many trucks do you have?
I have two.The Ram 2500 that you see, and one Chevy 2500 crew cab long box with an old 8ft straight blade. That's just a back up in the winter.
