On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago IL on 9-29-23.
We're looking at a 1960 Chevrolet Impala in Ermine White Paint. The car comes with the 348 CI V8 Engine and has a 4 Speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Al Prislinger. Al’s had this car since 2017. Al shares he used to drag race and wanted a cool car to drive around in. He started to look for a 1960 Impala and found this one. This car sure is a cool car to drive around in.
    ENJOY!

When my cousin graduated High school in 1960, this is exactly what his parents got him for graduation. Same color, same model, and with a stick shift. That's what he wanted and back then you could get one. He got a lot of speeding tickets with this one ! 😂😂😂😂 As an adult, he got into drag racing and was quite successful !

My family had a 59 Impala 348 when I was a kid back in the 70s. My dad picked it up used. The 59 even had bigger fins. The 60 is more toned down and I like its looks much better than the 59.That 348 was great engine. It moved that big Impala. Me and my older brother would take it to the Drive In.
    Great looking car.

What a way to exude beauty, style and strength from this 1960 Chevrolet Impala! The combination of white with the red interior is simply great, highlighting all its beautiful lines and chrome trim; like the large rocket-style plane, on the sides leaving a fascinating red trail, or the striking undulation of the trunk cover that begins to form those elegant horizontally inclined fins! A beautiful interior full of chrome trim and details; such as the aeronautical-style instrument panel (special mention for the fantastic internal visibility in all directions; thanks to its enormous, curved windshield with thin partitions, thus forming the stylized bubble-shaped roof). Lastly, the final ride was exciting, with that V8 roaring along the road in a very unique way! In fact, it was even difficult to hear them (the analogy with "American Graffiti" was good, haha). Congratulations to Mr. Prislinger on this American automotive gem! Best regards, Lou!

Lou the one thing I always liked about the full size Chevrolet of 1960; Was the emblem at the front of rear quarter panel that being a jet aircraft; It was a signal that the jet age had arrived. This 1960 Impala is just a beautiful beast. Thanks.

While this Bubble top car looks impressive...and it is, it wasn't until I heard the roar of the engine that made it really come alive. I didn't know about that badge in the middle of the grill means V8. Always learn from Lou's video! One of the best sounding engine's of all your videos! The 1960 tailights were much nicer than the similar 60's version. Man alive, that test drive was the best!!!

Hi, Lou! Chevy may have had smaller wings in 1960, but Al's Impala can fly just the same, which make the jet side trim very fitting! Why, it even sounds like a plane! Maybe that's why Chevy ads of subsequent years promoted "Jet-Smooth Ride"! No need for a radio is right. You wouldn't be able to hear it anyway! LOL!

Hey Lou! That's a really nice '60 Chevy Impala there! It suddenly brought back memories of a car similar to this that some cousins of mine owned as a second car in about 1971 (their other car at the time was a '66 Buick Skylark). Their Chevy had "only" a 283 and an automatic (Powerglide, I believe, but not sure) but still, it was some car! Thanks to the Bob Seger song "Night Moves," 1960 Chevrolets will forever be immortal, IMO!
Once again, thanks for another awesome video, Lou! As always, I'll be looking for more!

My dad's first new car. Tasco Turquoise, 348 tri-power 335 horse, manual trans. He added a custom tube grille, '57 Plymouth hub caps and painted the "W" valve covers in a glossy refrigerator white. Early GM muscle!! We still have the original 348 crossed flags grille emblem in our garage. 🏁🏁 Thanks for sharing it with us Lou! Have a good week ahead.

Back in 1964 I bought a 1960 Impala just like this one except it had a turquoise interior and turquoise stripe down the side to match. It was beautiful. It had the same 348 cu in, 335 hp, 11.25 compression ratio, 3 deuces, and Borg-Warner T-10 4 speed transmission (and full hubcaps with white-walls). Sadly as has been mentioned, the center drive shaft bearing was a weak spot and the rear end couldn't handle the power from the engine. I blew the spider gears apart the second night I had it. Unfortunately, the T-10 was "first design" and I popped all the teeth off 2nd gear a couple of times. (I should have upgraded it to the second design but that meant a lot more money and I didn't have it at the time.) I wish I'd had a phone with a camera in it back then because I don't have any pictures of it. I put a 4.56 posi 3rd member in it only to have to sell it again when the teeth popped off the transmission gears for the 2nd time and I was short on cash. The up keep proved to be too much for someone in high school and pumping gas for $1.50 an hour but it was fun while it lasted (about 9 months). Thanks for the memories!

I fell in love with these Batwing Chevys the first time I saw one, as a kid in the early 1970s.
There aren't a whole lot of cars I would choose in their available white paint, but this is one of them - that white with red accents is perfectly classic on a Batwing.
Another is a '65 Mustang, especially a 2+2, in Wimbledon White with the red interior.

I have owned over twenty 1960 Chey's. Belair's, Biscaynes, one Biscayne was a police car, and six El Camino's. Two red convertibles, one was a 348 4 speed. I owned three that were equipped with factory a/c. I have one left. A Tasco Turquois 2 door hardtop, 283, 4bbl with power pak heads and dual exhaust from the factory. I love1960 Chevy's! You have a very nice car! It looks like it sits too high in the rear and the red stripe is supposed to be black, if you are going for an original look Thank you so much for sharing! Fantastic! P.S. Burling, Ohio is across the river from me I would have bought the tire if I had known about it. I live in Huntington, WV. Thanks again!

My friend’s Mom had a white 60 Impala 2 door with an automatic though. Unfortunately while I was driving it I got rear ended by a lady in a 63 Impala. What made it worse I wasn’t supposed to be driving it. Taking the car to her house was a very stressful experience. My whip lash didn’t help matters either. The car featured here is a real beauty and a bad ass too.

KNICE! I wasn't familiar with the '60 Impalas, often getting confused between the '59s and the '60s. After watching this video, the first I've ever seen on a '60 impala, now o know the difference. Thank you for the video! I hope the owner enjoys his car for many years to come.

Lou - all original body - was the car repainted ?
I had a 1960 black Impala 2dsd bubble top with the red airplane stripe on the sides. Red interior with the red dash and carpets. 327 with dual exhausts.
Brings back a lot of good memories ! Unfortunately mine succumbed to cancer in the floors and quarters and I was forced to to sell it. 😅
Thanks for sharing this video of this beautiful piece of American history with us.

Those tissue boxes make frequent appearances in these old cars. I only ever remember seeing one of those in my life, and it was in a 1965 Buick Electra. Of course it was a dealer installed item, but they really were not very popular.

Now THAT is how a vintage car should sound when revving a strong V8!...Nothing timid about the owner letting us know how nasty-great that engine sounds. From what I remember, about the only difference between the 59 and the 60 models, was how the huge fins on the 59 were toned down, a little, for 1960...but they were still impressive. Chevrolet shocked the car world in 1961, when they abandoned those fins, in favor of a more sleek style. Three deuces on a 348 has to be a rare combo!
