- Another spicy take. Or not. Who knows. I'm very out of touch with the opinions of the masses. So PLEASE, educated me on what you think in the description. Love runescape, love tombs of amascut, love CG, but sometimes I gotta wonder what Jagex is thinking when they design some of the bosses.

Hating chip damage is the natural reaction and as much as I'd love to be able to camp at a boss for 6 hours straight I don't think that's very good for the health of the game. F*ck Zulrah though for real.
Yeah I was super excited to get to experience the famous snake boss, and was thoroughly annoyed.
Maybe combat achievements made me a little cynical.

I have over 1400 kills at Zulrah and legit that is the only time I ever die there. Only, it's worse than what you have suggested. It's more like you pray mage and get hit with 1 ranged attack for a 40 and think you're okay sitting at 60hp just to get hit by 3 melee minions for 3 14s and then immediately eat a manta ray only to get smaked with another ranged attack for a 40.
Looking at the Rendi fire capes or Kraken in general... I start to see where chip damage makes sense. it's something that forces speed to completion without endless mechanics being introduced. Whisperer, for example, has sanity which is like a secondary health bar that exists no where else in the game. Imagine if zulrah had a its own unique mechanic, and every other boss . Or if nex combined unique mechanics of other ancient magiks bosses. I think one of the better parts about osrs is how it (mostly) has maintained simplicity,. Chip damage is a simpler proxy to "do it fast, or bring more supplies". It keeps pures out of duke who have the dps, but can't maintain it while also tanking some 4's and 5's. And magic pures our of zulrah.

Problem is that osrs introduced the most broken mechanic ever introduced into a mmorpg. (Mostly) 100% damage midigation through the effect of prayer. This royaly fucks up the combat triangle, gear and overall mechanics. With prayrflicking, which started as a abuse of game mechanics, you can theoretically stay forever in a fight without using any supplies. Doing endgame content without consumes (which is a core part of osrs) is in itself idiotic beyond belief.
Most games gate their endgame content/gear/bosses etc behind things like lockouts to make it less farmable. And most games have classes/roles to then create mechanics around this. A healer needs to be ready for a certain mechanic to avoid tank being 1shot. Shadow damage incoming, prepare to survive etc. Osrs doesnt have this, it has prayer to almost fully negate all such mechanics. It is more of a solo game than most, but there has to be a difference between doing a endgame boss and Prayer flicking Fire Giants.
Chip damage and unavoidable mechanics is as of now the best way to do this. Preferably a prayer rebalance, but that is impossible at this point. Too much of the game is built around the prayer mechanic, such as inferno.
In very simple prayer gear like monkes and glory. Nothing out of the ordinary for a low/mid game account a invent of prayer potions last an hour with protection + Piety. And with todays buffed droprates of supplies. This would probably help add to the suppliesinflation that is already happening. These things are not healthy for the game at all.

I was just thinking today about how stupid hard the snakelings can hit at Zulrah too. They constantly hit me for 12-15 and it's so annoying
Chip damage sucks and I hate it at CG too but to be fair there has to be a tradeoff for doing t1 vs t2 vs t3 armor. I do really wish the max hit through prayer wasn't like 13-15 with t1 though. They could've set it even at 10 and it would be fine. There are times though when I literally have to eat multiple times between tornadoes (i.e. when I should be doing straight dps) because I just get smacked and smacked over and over. 92 defense btw. (Come to think of it if they are so obsessed with chip damage maybe defense and def bonus should reduce enemies' max hits instead of just their chance of hitting).
The random ranged hit zulrah does is good to venge. Makes for a more engaging fight
I do agree with what you are saying especially about doing the boss correctly and not really being rewarded. I do think chip damage is fine as long as it doesn’t exceed 5 when praying correctly. The zulrah mechanic is cheese I get it’s trying to teach combo eats but 41s cmon now.
Also feels like the CA’s are for people with fully maxed gear. Maybe I’m biased but you shouldn’t need Max gear to complete the CA’s.

cox crystals are infurating you click click click mf dont move and you get slapped for a 30 or 40
Learn how Zulrah stalling works. It gives you time to eat without losing DPS and it's very easy to do.
Gauntlet made me nostalgic of dungeoneering, went to rs3 to try, got depressed, quit osrs for a year. Don't do it to yourself

Lol, I liked the video, not trying to be a hater, but you did say honest opinions were encouraged right? :D I think you make an excellent point, and I certainly don't discourage the idea of more unique and challenging game mechanics, but I do think that chip damage is a viable way to make a boss feel challenging without it being poor game development. Nex is a terrible example of how to use it, where the boss mechanics are piss easy and it's just drink brew simulator, but with things like Ba-ba or dt2 bosses, I feel like the chip damage makes them super exciting to learn, because you're learning new mechanics while feeling like you have to constantly be on your toes, instead of chilling at 115hp the entire fight if you make no mistakes. But yeah, once the boss is mastered, it does get pretty cringe watching Ba-ba wipe your raid because he decides to deal 200 dmg through prayer in 3 mins in high invos.

I loathe Zulrah, little is telegraphed, the rotation memorization is stupid as a "mechanic". Vorkath feels like a way better designed consistent money boss to me tbh.

im an iron im 28 have 4kids work 60-100hrs a week i dont have time to it around and play the game like i did in highschool. i think its bullshit that i can get T2 most of the times but sometimes i only have T1 armour in cg 2 weapons all that other shit dont miss a prayer dont get stmped or hit by a nader and still die with the boss having like 25% or less health. i also think its total bs i have 1200kc @ zulrah and dont have atleast 1 of ever unique i have 3 onyx and 3 serps. i got plenty of other things to bitch about but tbh i love the game so i pk on my med and ande skill on the iron

kinda have the same thing with world of warcraft, last time I played, I made like 5 different characters and got all the proffessions available to max before even reaching lvl cap on any of them lol. I am old and I like to craft copper pants and invisibility potions
