I disagree, Noor jehans voice was unmatched when she was younger in the first twenty years of Noor jehans career. In fact Lata was told to sing like Noor jehan, it's without a doubt Noor jehan was the better singer, listen to her earlier songs and she sounds totally different. Age to a degree took its toll on Noor jehans voice, what also changed was the taste of the public, punjabi songs grew more popular in Pakistan and its well known that punjabi songs are sung at a higher pitch than urdu

@@vakasm8227 I have heard Nurjahan s oldest song before partition your point is reasonable but still I think Lata mangeskar too was equally high in her position,actually those days Nurjahan , suraiya etc were rulling Lata mangeskar was a teenager and was not recognized by the new music directors ,she visited door to door to get a break in movies as a singer but ignored and neglected,she was asked to sing in the style of noorjahan,shamshad begum or suraiya but once she got chance to sing in 1947"Mahal' she got recognized by her own style like "Ayega ane Wala", and"Mushkil he bahut mushkil",..even Asha bhonsle at the initial period copied Gita dutt,even Mohd rafi was neglected and asked to sing in one famous singer ' s style...
