- Our Utah Mushrooms are Popping!! All this Monsoon Rain we have had are pushing them up!! We have another week of monsoon rain forecasted. I expect us to hit the peak of the summer mushroom season this next week!! It is time to get out and find them!!

When asking for help with identification, remember to ...
1. Take a close up picture of the cap
2. Take a close up picture under the cap
3. Also of the stem and the base of the mushroom.
4. Mushrooms of Utah may ask you to take a spore print, so be prepared to do that if asked
I'm heading up a canyon tomorrow morning, hoping to find my first king bolete!
Good luck! I hope you find some good ones!! Just be sure that you are searching above 8,000 feet for the best results.

Which area is that? Could you tell me specific areas?
Hello Arnoldyod, I am very careful about sharing specific areas publicly because that does cause a large number of people to run to those areas and search them, which can quickly lead to over harvesting. So I keep locations general instead of specific. This area was in our wasatch mountains above 8,500 ft in elevation. My videos are designed to teach you what to look for and how to choose areas to search, so you can get out and develop your own areas and locations to find mushrooms.
