1)You do realize next year is a new season right? Duke's core squad is gone, so it's not a starting spot for the national champion. 2) Nothing is pointing to a post season ban for UNC. Why you think Emmert is choosing to make statements in preparation for the NCAA to not being able to do anything. Now for my list: He can play in front of thousands and be a part of one of the greatest basketball families or play in front of hundreds in a high school gym. He can be part of a rotation with a squad with a proven point guard or take a risk hoping a freshman guard will get him the ball. Logical choice.
J Tucker It's a shame you responded like a delusional fan and can't look at the situation realistically. Duke is a hotter program right now as is Kentucky and other schools. And believe it or not, Duke plays in front of thousands too - but more importantly has better national exposure than UNC. And has a coach who a) is the Olympic coach who coaches the best players in the world; and b) has a proven track record of getting freshmen into the lottery -- even freshmen who weren't considered to be one and done players coming in. Roy on the other hand hasn't had a one and done freshman since Wright about 8 years ago and has managed to botch surefire lotto picks like James Michael McAdoo -- and also managed to keep great talents like Harrison Barnes for more years than he should have. And there's a reason Carolina has such experienced players coming back next year -- none of Roy's players are first rounders even after playing three years at UNC -- including a guy who was a preseason first team AA this year -- and who ended up killing his draft position by continuing to play at UNC. As for Duke's point guard, a "freshman" managed to be MOP in this year's final four (and regional) for Duke while UNC's PG watched it on TV. And Duke's PG next year, Thornton, is better than whatever UNC will have, just as Tyus Jones was better this year. And lastly -- you're dreaming if you think UNC will not be sanctioned for the worst academic cheating scandal in the history of the NCAA. Dreaming.
calvindog1 Your delusional if you think Derryck Thornton is a better PG then Marcus Paige. Marcus averaged 14 points a game this pass season while playing with plantar fasciitis. Thornton couldn't put those numbers up even if he was healthy and you know it. And with or with or without Ingram UNC will be a top 5 team in the nation. With him however we would be by far the best team in the nation.
calvindog1 Proven track record with freshman? Haha.... You mean one and done talent coming in and doing just that? Tell me, what did K do for Irving? Nothing.... He got drafted on his own merit, just like the other high level one and down recruits. Minus the last two season, give the names of all the other freshmen. Haha.... More national exposure than UNC.... How, by playing their usual weak nonconference schedule? Who cares about being a hotter program, that doesn't always equal national titles. Go ahead, tell me what jurisdiction and ruling the NCAA will make. I'll wait.
Guys, it's a business decision. K has more playing time for BI, his program is not under a black cloud of sanctions, and he has gotten Kyrie, Rivers, Jabari, Winslow and Okafor all into the lottery after one year -- and Tyus Jones into the first round -- while Roy has gotten ZERO freshmen anywhere during that time period. As I said earlier, Roy hasn't gotten a freshman into the lottery since I believe 2007! And Duke just won the national championship. Duke is the better place for such a player like BI and there's really not a single factor you can cite in your favor other than the fact that your entire emotional self-worth is tied up into your team.

Starting spot on the national champs -- or a rotation player on a team which may be banned for postseason play next year? Easy choice.
