I don't care if you are a TRAXXAS fan boy, Axial fanboy, or whatever. You have to admit Redcat knocked it out of the park. For the money it is going to be hard to beat.
SSD makes aluminium link mounts that are keyed for the axle. I have them on my gen8 and have not had a problem with that at all yet. Loving that axe edition tho and how smooth it crawls.
Love the new look I'm on a preorder for the new axe addition body for my father. No happy that it costs $100 but I do understand that is interior cage soft top and body! Love what you do keep it up! RC LOVE ! LOL
@@ExocagedRC so upon further examination Google mhw-club it almost sounds like a complete truck witch can't be right. Let me know what you think please
As usual a very unbiased, informative video. Have to admit, I've almost started a little "there we go" bingo! 😁 A couple of our club members in the UK are thinking about importing one. B.E.R.C.C on FB btw. Cheers & Happy Xmas 🎅
if you put a longer screw though the upper link mount you can put a rod end on it and use that to brace the lower panhard bar mount its so much stronger than a tiny diff cover screw and it looks alot better or use ssd keyed link mounts or both that sound its making is awsome loud and crunchy but awsome lol
I am new to the crawler scene. Would there be a shorter body with short approach and departure angles to put on this chassis? The approach angle is not too bad, but the rear is too long for my liking. Something like the Vanquish body maybe? Or will it come down to modifying it yourself?
Nice vid as always Iike the G8, I have a G7 but it's not that capable, still have fun trailing in the ROCKIE MOUNTAINS 🤙G8 look good in ur EXPO, what transmitter are you using?? !!!!SVS!!!!
Big body? Is that a fat joke? Oh you mean the Scout. LOL. Looks good, my best friend has the original Gen 8 and is excited about this version. Is it the panhard bar that's not doing it's job?
John Roddy they want it to be unbreakable. So they put in the steel gears. That’s where the noise is coming from and it sounds worse in video than it does in person
Ron Bradshaw love the Gt5 but the hacked gt3c has a momentary button for winching and 2 more channels. It really depends on what I’m doing as to which radio I’ll go with.
Is that a very large squirrel I see...LOL boy the trans is a bit noisy ...similar to the Capra got to be all the metal gears in it ….the motor seams to produce a good deal of torque not much speed .. well it is a crawler the more torque the better it is... Yes my wife got me one for Xmas and she will not allow me to open it up to inspect I told her it could be damaged but she didn't fall for that..
There could a little but the biggest issue I see with it is the panhard mount at the axle shifting, I've got the new mounts ordered and if they don't fix it I'll do the brace like I did with the older Gen8.
Rtr's are never perfect....always something.... especially body rub. Some adjustments here and there...it'll be closer to perfect. The bodies are just getting bigger and everyone keeps calling the 1/10th scale. Hahaha Nice run.
I bet this would be a real solid contender if you could shorten that wheelbase somehow. It's TOO LONG. Even longer than the RC4WD TF2 "LWB" Mojave. eek
@@ExocagedRC Just looked her up. That Redcat is 12.7. The LWB Mojave is 12.36. I'd tear that thing down get it into it's 12.2. According to Redcat, you can adjust it from 312 to 336. Do your axle fix to stiffen it up and tighten up that wheelbase. I bet you have yourself a SERIOUS crawler almost stock. Thanks for the awesome review. It really shows what it's capable of and what needs adjusting.
Sorry but for $500 this was a disappointment. You shouldn’t have gotten hung up so badly, wether it’s the bumpers getting in the way, or the sliders or the loose panhard mount, these are things redcat should have addressed. For having 400+ oz/in of torque it shouldn’t be so notchy either which you can clearly see in the video. I’m guessing exocaged didn’t set the ESC up yet. Great video thou and keep up the content!!
esc is still stock except for the bec to 7.4 and the throttle expo you see me adjust, I want to get a video showing exactly what the esc can do. Its a nice trail truck as it sits, it sure isn't a comp crawler at all. Maybe if we make enough noise Redcat will sell a new version with the bumpers up and in along with a smaller body. I'd like to see that myself!
Exocaged RC yes, I have the axe 2300 in my honcho and I have it tuned just right, surprised to hear thou that you already have the BEC set to 7.4, I guess I expected smoother steering travel with such a high end servo. I have a C2X with a twister servo (305oz) and the steering travel is smoother then that reefs....
@@ExocagedRC Thanks for the follow up. 👍🏻 I'm still watching the Axe reviews to see how it does between different drivers on different youtube channels.
That's why I dig your channel, you find the bugs on these rigs and you fix them.
Way to drive. Video was a lot of fun. Getting mine ready to go. Can’t wait!
Can't wait to see some tires and wheels on there with the support bar. Great looking rig!
Awesome ! Thank you for taking us along !! 👍👍
Nice video. Making me want to get back into crawling again
I love how at a crawl it almost sounds like a diesel running in that thing.
Matt Mays LoL yeah that’s the big mod1 steel gears in the trans and tcase.
Exocaged RC it didn’t come stock mod 1 did it!?
Oswalds Reef yes stock steel mod1 gears in the trans, tcase and portal gears.
That truck looks bad ass on the rocks

Mister Robato Yep!!
I totally agree, I bought the Gen8 V2 and I love it. Just have to change radio system and tires and wow what a capable rig.
Looks like an awesome truck a bit noisy but not bad thanks for sharing happy bashing bud.
I live in Louisiana and I have to fight pine straw and leaves too I have the first gen8 and i love it i will be some major upgrades to mine

I haven't seen those, just the Hot Racing ones I have ordered of ebay. I'm just sitting here waiting now. LOL
Part No. SSD00323 found it on SSD's website but no price tho
Amain has them for $16.99

I might have to pick one of these up
its a nice truck
Red car surprised me with the radio gear, and the scale look.
Your channel is soo underrated bro! You deserve more views for your content
I wish I could get them, and subscribers too!! share the videos around maybe a few more will subscribe.
I love this so much I am building from the ground up a mix gen 8 and gen 8 axe edition

ferp420 interesting idea you have on the brace. I’ll look into that this evening when I get home. Thank you.
This is my favorite truck it's a beast 💪
its a p.o.s for the price
I’m actually really hoping they make a gen2 builders kit with all the new updates
Definitely needs tuning! Different tires/foams, some weight up front, play with the spring rates and shock oil and of course adding the Exo-Brace.
exo-brace for sure, I like that name!!! IMO the shock oil and springs are good, maybe some weight in front and tire foams for sure.
I was cringing at the new black body scrapes on the rocks 😳
Looks good
This is one big bad boy 😊❤️
I will take this video over another Cappra video any day!
Well get your popcorn ready Friday will be a Capra video just for you

Paul Van Der Vyver it’s something you’re going to have to do yourself. It comes with body posts so you can put any body you want on it.

Hey buddy awsome crawl. Have u tried the crawler innovations in the cold?
yes, the cold doesn't seem to bother them, granted cold for me may be in the 30's here in florida
How is the noise in person? Sounds a little screamy on video.
Its not as bad in person but sounds really bad in video. I may do an odd video to attempt to quiet it down a bit.
Any ideas why my redcat receiver won’t bind to the radio?
Some great driving dude, hoping to get one of these when they come to the uk, how would you say it compares to the trx;? Which is what I have
Liam’s rc cars close with all the upgrades this one has out of the box, it may be better than a stock trx.
Exocaged RC cool thanks just got to wait now for it coming to the uk😢
Big body? Is that a fat joke? Oh you mean the Scout. LOL. Looks good, my best friend has the original Gen 8 and is excited about this version. Is it the panhard bar that's not doing it's job?
Michael Hoyle LoL the mount at the axle is shifting causing the issues. I’ll get hat fixed like I did with the older Gen8
@@ExocagedRC Just watched your fix video. Thanks.
It sounds horrendous. What's causing it? Sounds like it needs a rebuild already.
all steel mod1 gears in transmission transfercase and axles
Very noisy, what do you think about the gears, and drive train?
The driveline may be unbreakable with the exception of maybe a driveshaft, all steel mod1 gears too.
Drive it like you stole it, performance is way better when you do. What do you think brother? Love it
Billy Moore III with a bit of tuning on the panhard bar mount it will be right where it needs to be
You thought about aluminum links mounts that fasten to the axels? Have them on my old gen8 and work great.
It’s a cool rig I just don’t get why they let it be so noisy
John Roddy they want it to be unbreakable. So they put in the steel gears. That’s where the noise is coming from and it sounds worse in video than it does in person
Ahhh ok
which radio do you prefer gt3 or gt5?
Ron Bradshaw love the Gt5 but the hacked gt3c has a momentary button for winching and 2 more channels. It really depends on what I’m doing as to which radio I’ll go with.
👍🏽🐒🇺🇸
Sounds noisy and looks like the tires have no grip on the rocks.
Jesse B Motors the foams are not the best and that hurts the tires. The stock tires are actually pretty good with the right foams
Tires are really good. I ran pitbull duelstage foams in my stock tires for the longest time. They get plenty of grip
Is that a very large squirrel I see...LOL boy the trans is a bit noisy ...similar to the Capra got to be all the metal gears in it ….the motor seams to produce a good deal of torque not much speed .. well it is a crawler the more torque the better it is... lol you'll love it man. Yeah all steel mod1 gears are a bit noisy
Is their still bump steer at new gen8?
No.
Oh so they now fixed it

Tom Lucas yeah with a smaller lighter body it would perform way better
I bet this would be a real solid contender if you could shorten that wheelbase somehow. It's TOO LONG. Even longer than the RC4WD TF2 "LWB" Mojave. eek
Matt Mays the wheelbase is 12.5 I think. The body is just huge making it appear longer than it really is.
@@ExocagedRC Just looked her up. That Redcat is 12.7. The LWB Mojave is 12.36. I'd tear that thing down get it into it's 12.2. According to Redcat, you can adjust it from 312 to 336. Like the axe but it’s super noisy
Fyi your link to amazon for a fly sky is a knockoff jrelecs branded item. The actual flysky is lower cost
All the upgrades and additional costs and still sounds like a $199 gen 7.

sounds like a bird when running weird gear whine.
patrick walker yeah mod1 steel gears in the trans and tcase along with the portals are a bit loud. They sound worse on camera than they do in person.
U need a camera man lol
lol yeah its all me for this one, sometimes I have guest drivers
Maybe it's just the video but that doesn't sound very good. It's almost like the gearing mesh is too tight.
It’s the all mod1 steel gears everywhere.
