The LED lights are also in a different location on the doors, the door hardware is slightly different, and a lot of interior features are completely different.
I’ve been riding the type 6’s since shortly after they got delivered. They were running blue and yellow line in the afternoon, and VERY rarely at night. I would take them from Gresham end of line, to the expo center. Expo center yellow line would only have it sometimes.
@ it just takes a long time to phase out the old trains, as more of the old trains get scrapped more type 6s will show up and eventually type 6’s will be most of what you see. Right now I have no idea, they probably just treat it like any other train, probably bounces around a little bit. I noticed a few trains (all generations) kind of bounce around lines, you can tell by some of the scratches in the plastic.
Im an operator, and i can say the trains are definitely as bad as people say they are. I have to deal with noxious fumes several times a day, and I always ride in the other cab to my road reliefs because of safety. I stopped riding the MAX except when headed to and from work. Hopefully these new laws will help, but I doubt they'll be enforced.
I expected it to be exactly like the 5s, but to me it actually seems quieter. The seals around the windows are new, so that's probably why. The tunnel will be loud no matter the train
They were having lots of software problems. It took them forever to iron those out. It seems like some finishing touches are still needed (like the old doors closing announcement)
It was intentionally on train 6 for the first 2 days. Now its been cleared to run on any ruby train other than transfers since they want to keep them easy access for the more experienced with type 6's staff at the ruby yard if there are any issues with them. Yesterday they were train 3 and today they ran on Train 69.
We're getting a total of 30 to replace the original type 1s. Around half have been delivered, but it will probably take quite some time to get them all running
I consider these far from a waste. There are less obvious features I didn't touch on here (which is my fault). They have upgraded maintenance features that allows mechanics to know what work may soon need to be done (predictive maintenance). But the best feature I missed is the upgraded cameras. The new cams are way higher quality, making for a decent security upgrade. I feel as though the type 6s are the best trains Trimet has ever had
@trimet101 ngl, the maintenance features sound pretty good. I'm not a hater of public transit, I'm dependent on it. What I hate is how the business is run.
@@AceVenom Are you even capable of elaborating further? Public agencies aren’t supposed to be run as a business, the entire purpose is to be funded by the public.
@realquadmoo that's part of the exact complaint I have with them. They're taking millions of taxpayers dollars AND fare from riders that keeps increasing with minimal discernable improvement to the riders. They're straight up double dipping.
They're the best trains Trimet has ever had thus far. In my opinion, they look much more appealing than the type 1's they're replacing. Those look boring
This is awesome. I got to school near the max tracks, so hopefully I see it today
Zac trying as hard as he can to sound excited

He's as Excited as Watching Paint Dry .
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I promise you guys I was more excited than that. I wouldn't have put 6 exclamation marks in the title otherwise
Besides the paint job and the traction motor,it's pretty much identical to Seattle's Sound Transit S700
The cabs have a different shape, and Sound Transit’s vehicles run on a higher voltage meant for metro systems.
The interior screens are also different, and Link does not have ramps because Link has level boarding
The seating layout is also very different and Link does not have the center poles
Link also uses different colors for the door LEDs
The LED lights are also in a different location on the doors, the door hardware is slightly different, and a lot of interior features are completely different.

Lets not forget train 6 departs from Ruby at 6:06 am
9:20 I heard your parents talking in the background about 405 😂😂😂

how do they decide where to run the type 6's?

Please provide the link to that tracker in the description!
Also definitely try out Pantograph if you haven’t yet
Oh yeah I forgot the link. I've added it to the description. It unfortunately hasn't been running the last few days

You’re not an operator lmao
@@realquadmoo the fuck asked
how is the sound going through the tunnel compaired to the older models? it sounds about as awful as ever but it hard to tell on video.

9:43 Did that train have the original voice announcements??
Yes but only the one for the doors closing
@trimet101 I noticed that later in the video.
I want to go ride it tonight but I can’t find it on any of the trackers
These look great! Glad to see they are finally in service. Is there any reason it took so long for them to go into revenue service?

@@trimet101here in Seattle, we’ve had a ton of similar issues as well
well it's about time
Arent the trains automatic? Are the people in the conductor seat just there to keep it from swerving into traffic?
The trains are not automatic and unless it derails it will not be swerving into traffic

Is Trimet getting more of the type 6?
I Hope So 😊😊😊

Oh, another Max train that's too slow and infrequent.
I don't know, they fly pretty fast outside of downtown
Looks like they wasted a ton of taxpayers money on cosmetics but otherwise essentially the same train. Excellent.

At about 5:34 ito your video you say you're going to 'shut up now' but you kept talking for almost another 90 seconds.
