This song was always WAY ahead of its time! Aaliyah and Timbaland had a special chemistry. Gone way too soon...and to think where she would be if she were still here now. 😔
The song was released in March 2001, and the music video in April 2001, and of course it's produced by Timbaland. Aaliyah loved snakes, I don't think she was scared, she seems comfortable, lol. To my knowledge, Aaliyah was the first to use snakes in a music video. In the context of the song, which speaks about resolving conflicts in a relationship, the snakes could represent obstacles or challenges to overcome. They could also symbolize the duality of emotions in a relationship, both enticing and potentially dangerous.. Thank you for your reaction :)
You always say Aaliyah doesn't look like herself...lol... 6:05....Aaliyah was a woman with many looks...that's what made her unique and interesting. Even her boyfriend, Damon Dash, said in an interview that every time he saw her out in public that she looked different...he couldn't recognize her.
This was filmed after she finished filming the movie Queen Of The Dammed. She said she wanted to tap into the darker side of her artistry with this video so she took elements of her role as Akasha and explored them here. She was interested in trying out different things but unfortunately she passed a few months later.
Aaliyah actually had a pet snake and brought it on TRL once so she definitely wasn't scared of snakes.
Damn 😳
