    Pretty darn good.. You hunters did your homework.. Makes sense to me your method for the night game for whacking coyotes and bobcats in your back yards... I've hunted all my life but have not tried the night game..
    Well done with great information.. Thanks guys..

      If I'm not mistaken it's not quite legal to hunt game at night with lights. Maybe just my state. But under the circumstances they're up against, that state law was quickly changed. This isn't a hunt per se, this is war against a clever, invasive enemy.

    Im 42, and my Dad has been calling coyotes, bobcats, and Badgers in South Texas at night out of a camo high rack hunting rig with a Red spotlight before most. For as long as I can remember my dad staying was not just calling him up and being a hundred fifty yards out and shooting them but actually getting them right to the truck. That was his thing was to outsmart them and literally getting them right to the tires of the truck I can remember having to scare them off to get a shot because my dad was afraid I would shoot his truck instead lol. As years went on and the older I got I tried to convince my dad to make hunting videos for predator hunting because deer hunting VHS tapes we're becoming popular and being sold on the shelves at Walmart. And naturally my father was not into that. But the more time that went by the more I started noticing people with High rack hunting rigs and people getting interested in predator hunting. Then electronic game calls came out then I tried to get my father to get one so he could shoot, but he wasn't interested because I remember him saying that those don't work very well because the kayaks can hear the background of the tape playing which you could. I remember him always saying that it doesn't take any skill to hit a play button. Then the digital calls started coming out that eliminated the background noise of the call playing and he still won't used one even in his old age. I guess he's old school and likes to do it himself. That is a true Predator hunter in my eyes. Keep up the good work guys, Yall got a cool rig. I like watching y'all's videos. But don't act like you're all the pioneers of predator hunting at night because I have 35 years of memories of being out at night with my dad doing exactly what y'all are doing.

      Very cool story Lance. We always give credit to guys like your dad that were calling long before we were ever born and never intend to take any credit for the sport or calling in general whatsoever. Our intentions of showing the rig we built was simply to show the system we designed for filming purposes only. Before we built our first light rig, filming predators at night had only been done primarily with hand held lights and not a camera mounted light system like you see in the show. Until then, most of the night time footage out there was pretty dark and hard to watch. There were a few guys out there filming with white lights at least, which made it much better video content than with a red light but it was just not the same as having the lights and camera in sink like you get with a light rig like that we created. For the light rig itself, we will take credit cause it never existed prior. For the sport itself, not hardly as there are so many great pioneers that came long before our time (like your dad) that deserve all the credit there. Kudos to your father and all the ones of his time! Thanks for watching. Chris

      @@nightcrew3115 After reading what I wrote, I sounded like a prick. Didnt mean for it to sound that way. I love y'alls videos and jealous of yall. What I learned from you is you CAN use a white light. We always use red and I'm really surprised to see them come in. My dad always told me to use red and y'all are the first I've ever seen using white. Makes me want to try it. Calling Predators is my passion as well.

      I have seven thousand square acres outside of Laredo going towards Freer. Maybe one day when you run out of places to go we can get together and go kill some bobcats and coyotes at my lease.

      No worries at all bud, just want anyone thinking that we are trying to claim credit for the sport as thats not the case at all. We are very passionate about the small niche we have in the filming side of the industry but other than that, we just love the hell out of hunting at night! Many others before us paved that road and we wont ever forget it trust me!
      Laredo is some good country and we are always looking for new places. Just stay in touch and maybe one day we could make a trip. Im usually at some of the Big cat hunts out of Angelo if your ever that way just holler. Take care. Chris

    Hey there Night Crew and Chris. I am a avid predator hunter. I live on the west side of Washington State, but hunt on the east side for ranchers and land owners that have predator problems. We as predator hunters do provide a service to land owners to manage with conservation in mind to keep them in check. With that being said I was curious what lights do you use under your camera fluid head?

    Planning on building a similar rig for my truck in Texas. Is this legal? Where would I check about legality? FYI, It will increase the total vehicle height to 11 feet and not add any width. Do I need lights/reflectors on it?

    How did y’all get the rig to bolt down to your truck???

    • @nightcrew3115
      @nightcrew3115  4 роки тому +1

      William thats a loaded question but I'll try and simplify it for you. On a GMC/Chevy bed, there are 4 double walled corner sections that give the bed rails support. We used those 4 corners to attach a plate that runs the length of the bed itself. The plate has 1/2" bolts coming off it to bolt the legs of the rig to. In the beginning, we didnt know if it would support the load but we've run it that way for 10 years or so now with no problems at all. The rig itself is made of 100% aluminum so that helps also. The way we attached the plate with the bolts to the bed was a little more complicated but entailed using threaded sheet metal inserts to give us something to bolt to in each corner of the bed of the truck. Those inserts have a plate bolted to them which is welded to the plate running the length of the bed that holds the rig. The best part is, it allows us to keep the entire bed of the truck free for storage or animals or whatever. I hope this answers your question. Chris
