I admire your ingenuity. And what a great attitude. Anything to do with gardening, planting seeds, etc. really makes me happy. Thanks for sharing so much with us. I really enjoy your videos.
Very good job my friend, god bless you! Watching this video reminded me very much of my kind uncle who had passed away not too long ago. He was a very intelligent man who was close to the Lord and had taught me many things in life. He was a carpenter like his father and an electrician and he believed in me even when I felt like no one else did. Watching you work in this video was very enlightening and brought back many memories of him. Thank you very much my friend and God bless you!
Just wanted to say thank you! We had bought a 24x48 greenhouse from an individual that was taken down laying in a field, w/ a box of white plastic to cover with. Thanx to your videos, especially how you put up the plastic helped us soooo much, dont think we could of done it w/out your help. We just today put the skin on in 15-20+mph winds,we did have 4 people, but the rope tricks and rolling/pulling the plastic on made it possible to get it on finally, the only day that we had. Thanx again!
Awesome, you have inspired me, I have been thinking how to make my own green houses, without breaking my piggy bank, You have shown me the way ! right down to the stove room. BIG thanks !
I knew there was a reason for the delay, and what a wonderful reason it turned out to be! With that done, you don't have to worry about the supports after you have the plastic on! God always knows what we need, and did you see how great that cover finally went on! WOW! I'm sure it was hard to do, but you sure make it look easy. I'm so proud of you, and so very happy that you shared it with us. Thank you, Sheila
thanks brother for all u do. you have brought me to a higher level to garden. man I'm relaxed when I'm in the yard and see what God blessing will bring. like u say God willing I see u video as much as I can.
I just want to say thank you. My girlfriend and I bought two green houses both 38 x 100 and the trouble I was having was trying to figure out how to sheet them using just her and myself. Well after watching quite a few videos I came across yours and that's exactly how we did it. Although it didn't go flawlessly due to the wind picking up ( btw anyone who does do it this way do not skip the part of throwing your ropes over just incase, we used five of them tied to cinder block which absolutely saved our behinds) we were able to do them with just the two of us. Also as not to jinx myself or skip any steps I even went as far as saying "here kitty kitty, here plastic plastic come to papa and we pulled it off. Thank you very much and being new to the whole green house life style I have learned very much from your videos and enjoy watching them.
Mr MhpGardener, that is just simply amazing, wow. Great, great job. You and Mr WebCajun must have went to the same school. Y'all ALWAYS do the job right. Thank you Sir for posting all of the good information on here, in doing so you are helping countless folk grow the very best food, (home grown). God Bless You.
Thanks. I like the combination of the greenhouses and typical outside gardening. Both have their advantages. Production crops like corn, peas, and potatoes do better outside. Whereas tomatoes and cukes seem to do better inside away from the elements. I'm blessed to be able to use both methods.
It's 21 x 68, and all the plans were done it my head..many sleepless nights thinking it thru. It's truly a home made, one of kind, greenhouse. I recommend to everyone who is thinking about building one to check on Craigslist and try to find a used GH frame. It can save you a lot of money. Thanks.
Love your vid, your job on the greenhouse, and especially your faith in Christ. I'm a Mormon and love to see others not ashamed of their faith in Christ. God bless you.
Bobby you are very good. Don't go selling yourself short. You're a small genius! Thanks for the videos, the are the best on the internet. No B/S just plain talking. Keep them coming.
It's beautiful, I love it! I'm so proud of you! I wish you lived closed to me so I could come and share your blessings and profit off your ingenuity. My mother always said "Necessity is the mother of invention" and you just proved that. Where there's a will, there's a way is my motto because I have to jury rig so many things to make them work when I'm gardening and I love learning what others have done in my same situation. Can't wait to see how you finish this. Exciting.
Mr. MPH, terrific job! Altho' I live in Japan, I enjoy your posts & videos immensely, and have gleaned a lot of good tips from you. A lot of things I can't use, as they're either way too expensive, or don't even exist here. But many of the basics I've gleaned & applied from your videos have worked well for me here! Thanks again for sharing! PS. I especially admire your humble spirit, your sharing what you have with others & always giving God the glory for all that He's blessed you with! Keep Rockin' & Growin' !
Jealousy has set in, I can only imagine what great things will come from that house, can't wait to get one myself, until then I'll just keep on watching and learning from you. Thanks for the great videos.
"I don't think I'll ever sleep again." Hahaha. What an amazing demonstration of the power of Jesus Christ. All things are possible. I need to put cranks on my hoop house sides too. Thank you for the video. God bless you and your family, brother. Hopefully you and your family are well.
That sounds like a neat idea, especially for areas that stay frozen all the time. It was a mild winter down here, so I would have had trouble keeping it frozen. I ended up using the channels and wire lock to seal the bottom. It worked pretty well.
@REDFTW Thank you. Yes... a lot of ideas. Drip, soaker hoses, manual..I gotta see what the layout of the plants is gonna be. And I'd like to do some type of gutter to catch rainwater, but the only place I can put the gutters is at ground level...which means I'd have to bury the storage containers then pump out of them. Not crazy about that idea.
Your inspirational Bobby! I love your determination! I got my seeds in the mail you sent me! What a blessing! Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
you are super professional, as you are working alone on the project and do not have any help while installing the greenhouse. I learn lot of theing from your videos. Thanks for uploading for ejucating others.
It is a great article and I love everything about it and in particular that fact that you beleive in the Lord Jesus Christ. I am planing to start a farm early next year, so, I started doing some research as I have little knowedge about farming. What I have seen on your post, have given me courage to go ahead with the project. I was thinking of traditional farming, with what I have seen, I will definitely go for the geenhouse. Remain Blessed Always and may Jesus Christ keep empowering you.
So, not content with doing the work of four men you decide to use one hand to hold a camera... wow, I am impressed, very impressed! You can rightly be very proud of that job because you deserve to be. I was all pleased with myself installing a new sheet of glass in the roof of my greenhouse today but you have me beaten hands down. Great job. Best Wishes, Brendan.
Awesome Bobby! I am very impressed on how far that greenhouse has come and the work that you have done on it. I would love to have something like that to grow my vegetables in. Also, double wall plastic is the way to go. I was sold on that the first time I used it, over 10 years ago.
Thanks so much for everything, your are very inspirational, informative, creative, etc. I appreciate everything I learn from you. Keep up the amazing work.
this looked all to familiar, 10 years ago we put up our hoop house I used it 6 yrs then upgraded I wish I would of save that hoop house now.. never enough room! real nice Bobby as always.. lots of blood , sweat and tears.. take care! Diane
I cannot believe you put that plastic on there all by yourself. That's a three people job. You're right, now you will never sleep again. The greenhouse really did turn out awesome. It is SO big. Great job with those two layers of plastic. You must be exhausted!
Thanks for the prayers, I appreciate that. In about 3 years, if all goes well, I'll have to replace the plastic. I'm not looking forward to it, but I do know that we can get the job done. ;)
You are an inspiration to me and to everyone else that want to do this. I can't wait to move out in rural america off the grid growing my own food..............................
I used the channels and wire across the bottom and ends. My curtains were long enough to drop down past the channels and allow me to seal everything up. The only downside is the fact that I have to keep it sealed up a bit longer in the spring to avoid messing around with the wire too much. This one is 21 x 68. Kind of an odd size, but that's what you get with homemade. :)
@prettyroads Thank you mam. Sometimes you just have to make the most of what you have...get creative. Its surprising what you can come up with. Its coming along nicely. The curtains are installed and sealed for the winter, and the west end is covered. Working on the water / electric now. Got lots to do ! ;-)
291 LIKES! Make that 292! Love your greenhouse Mr. Mhpgardener! Excellent work. I know your boss. He's quite the carpenter I hear. Cheers to you brother.
@MelodeeRose Thx Mel.... thats probably what I'll do. And to protect the plastic a little bit, I'll use some scrap plastic as an extra layer and then put the wire in the channel. I'm very proud of it...and no, I don't wanna do it again ! :-)
@mhpgardener I miss the east, keep thinking about moving that way, maybe some day. I've learned a lot about green houses from you, thanks a bunch, I need one out here. I have a average of 83 days between frosts up here, lord willing ill start a green house in the spring. Thanks again for all your hard work.
For the rope, I screwed eyebolts into the sidewalls at the top and bottom. They are offset every 4ft, give or take. The rope forms a zig zag once it get threaded thru and holds the side panels pretty well.
Great job on this. I am impressed with you as you are impressed with you. It does require some thought and planning to accomplish things by yourself, which would be easier with a crew. Thanks for the video. I am getting ready to build mine on a smaller scale. Thank you.
@mediamaker2000 My $85 camera gets the job done ! The rectangle is a piece of white plastic that I put up, thinking it might help with light reflectivity. I think its to transparent to be of much use in this way. The plastic is really tough. Just put a couple layers of duct tape on any possible sharp edges and keep going. Even if it punctures the plastic, it won't rip. You just tape over the tear.
Thanks again for the inspiration. Today I cover my greenhouse (I had the structure already done for a couple of weeks). Is very small comparing with yours but you are right, I feel very proud of myself after this is done :D
@pybryce Thanks. I'm still undecided on the layout. I'll start in the middle with tomatoes, cukes, and beans for the vertical stuff, then work on the outsides. Gonna try to be patient and let it play out. Its gonna be interesting. ;-)
Living the dream! You're amazing. Can't wait to see all the crazy starts you'll have for planting out next summer. I imagine you could easily recoup all your construction costs the first summer with a stand out by the highway. Be careful or you'll put your local grocers out of business!
you're a mad genius. omg, and I was having terrible issues with 3 people holding it down and cinder blocks... just goes to show, i need to revise my greenhouse structural integrity lol
great job matey.i plan to travel to the USA next year some time to do a bit of research and try to learn a bit more about growing both indoors and outdoors.I would love to add you to the must visit list to learn more about your ideas and current grows.I am all for indoor but slowly leaning towards an outdoor greenhouse the more i research.
The center portion of the hoop was from a 14 x 96 frame. The side portion is 1 1/4 EMT. I bought a bender online so I could make that angle to turn it down to the ground. The bends aren't perfect, but they're close.
I bent the side supports with a bender that I bought online. It did a good job on 1 1/4 inch EMT. Yes, this is 6 mil greenhouse plastic. UV treated to last about 4 years.
@GreenhouseSalvation Yes sir...its all trick photography ! I recorded a segment on the curtains and how I made my own. I may post it separately, or just wait till I edit the whole constructuon process. Either way, I'll show it. Thank you James....and Merry Christmas my friend. :-)
"Here kitty kitty!" haha This is a true Do It "YOURSELF" video and that greenhouse looks MORE than professional. All of the commercial greenhouses I see here in AZ have staples and cinder blocks holding the plastic down. Great job and hope you have a Merry Christmas! May Santa Clause bring you lot's of red and green gifts next year!
@22justus2 My wheels are always turning, trying to think of ways to solve problems, or to do something better. The curtains are really easy to make. I'll show the process a bit later. Yes mam...patience, patience, patience...there is a reason for everything. :-)
@Learning2homestead I wanted to make the frame as stiff as possible. Diagonal braces made a big difference. This one is "itty bitty" compared to some I have seen. But it oughta keep me busy. :-)
the bug is spreading! a bunch of people watching this project, and it is looking good...gonna be a lot of wasted plastic when folks like me try this..good job dude!! looks great!!
@JaxRL I have seen that video. "HotSpot" is a UK product. Here in the US, Growers Supply sells a product called "Guardian Felt Tape". I bought a dozen or so rolls to cover the tops of the hoops, especially where the purlin bkts are, to prevent heat buildup and wear. Its some really sticky stuff, adheres quite well. The only drawback is they didn't give a duration of use. So it might breakdown before the 4 year poly does. Time will tell. :-)
I really like your method of adding the extra bracing. We get a lot of high winds here, I'll have to remember that when I build my (itty bitty) greenhouse (hopefully) next year. :)
@catfishchic Hehe..had to sweet talk it ! Yes mam..that plastic would raise up, and He'd push it right back down...it was an awesome experience. Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you too !
Very nice Bobby that my friend was a job well done, I like your saying about being an untrained professional I may have to borrow that. Thanks for sharing.
Other than how to install the plastic, the construction of this greenhouse was all done in my head. I wanted to beef up the structure quite a bit. So I added the 4x4 posts in concrete. The center posts and supports were also planned as part of beefing up the overall frame. I think it's one of a kind. A bit unorthodox, but it works. :)
It's all homemade, no plans to go by. A good place to get started is Craigslist. See if you can find a used GH frame. But be patient...it takes awhile to find the right deal.
@MajorRager76 Yea.. I agree on the sleep deal...plenty of time for sleep later on. I wanna be able to roll the sides up, but I'm gonna have to do some type of screen to keep the bugs out. Have you priced screen material lately?....geez
@shartne No sir...its pretty common on the larger houses. I used the parts from the used frame I had to make the first curtain, and one more on that side. I had to buy new parts and make homemade curtains for the other side...they turned out just as well. I might need a golf cart to ride around inside...LOL Thanks.
I admire your ingenuity. And what a great attitude. Anything to do with gardening, planting seeds, etc. really makes me happy. Thanks for sharing so much with us. I really enjoy your videos.

Thanks Eli. I try to keep things as simple as possible, knowing that supplies will vary quite a bit from one country to another.
5 stars for your inventiveness. I've a 17 x 96' tube house to put together this summer. Going to use your idea for installing the plastic. Thanks !!!
Jealousy has set in, I can only imagine what great things will come from that house, can't wait to get one myself, until then I'll just keep on watching and learning from you. Thanks for the great videos.

You are the Man Bobby. I wish I had your resources and resourcefulness. Kudos Brother
What a superb job you have made of it. Looking forward to seeing it full of plants! Shows just what you can do with a bit of Faith.
That sounds like a neat idea, especially for areas that stay frozen all the time. It was a mild winter down here, so I would have had trouble keeping it frozen. I ended up using the channels and wire lock to seal the bottom. It worked pretty well.
Thanks, I'm glad the videos have been helpful. I enjoy putting them together and sharing how I do things.
WOW!! Now that is just fantastic. Congratulations on an incredible structure.
You have every right to be proud of yourself. Amazing job - creativity at its best! Fantastic finished product.
"I am a highly untrained Professional, so don't you try this at home!", Tell Bo Dean that has to be the New Classic! Great Job Bro.
@REDFTW Thank you. Yes... a lot of ideas. Drip, soaker hoses, manual..I gotta see what the layout of the plants is gonna be. Good job, do this task by youself is just wonderful and step by step plan ahead is well thought out. you earned by most respect. God bless.

This is amazing! Congratulations for doing this all alone. You have gave me some great ideas. Thanks for the video and good luck .
Amazing! Can't wait to see how you lay it out inside and all of the beautiful produce you'll get.
Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely, where there is a will...there is always a way.
I know I've said it before, but I love your videos. You are so entertaining and informative.
Well done. I'm impressed especially doing it yourself. I'd say you are highly trained, self-trained. You learn by doing.
this looked all to familiar, 10 years ago we put up our hoop house I used it 6 yrs then upgraded I wish I would of save that hoop house now.. never enough room! real nice Bobby as always.. lots of blood , sweat and tears.. take care! Diane
Thank you ! The channels and wire make installing plastic much easier.

Thank you. Having the option to grow your own food is a really cool deal.
You are awesome! Ive been there and I gave up!!! Now you got me motivated again! Thank you!!!
It's ok to take a step back and regroup. Then .... git er done !
What a nice job and some great ideas you've come up with for being that "professional" you keep talking about. Merry Christmas!

I miss the east, keep thinking about moving that way, maybe some day.
I've learned a lot about green houses from you, thanks a bunch, I need one out here.
I have a average of 83 days between frosts up here, lord willing ill start a green house in the spring. Thanks again for all your hard work.
Thanks Debbie. I really enjoy the whole growing process, from seed to harvest. I like the eating part too. :)
Great video. Now I will put my plastic on. You made it look easy!
@lifeinthailand Thx... you're right about the work. But I only have to do it once. I'll have an update sometime first of the week...I hope !
@webcajun Yes sir, especially trying to stretch the plastic and get the wire put in. That was a job. Thanks Donald.
@pybryce Thanks. I'm still undecided on the layout. I'll start in the middle with tomatoes, cukes, and beans for the vertical stuff, then work on the outsides. Gonna try to be patient and let it play out. Its gonna be interesting. ;-)

@IllumTheMessage That is so true. I work by myself pretty much all the time, but I am never alone ! It's a very peaceful feeling just knowing that.
great job matey.i plan to travel to the USA next year some time to do a bit of research and try to learn a bit more about growing both indoors and outdoors.I would love to add you to the must visit list to learn more about your ideas and current grows.I am all for indoor but slowly leaning towards an outdoor greenhouse the more i research.
You did a Super Job! I enjoyed this video Very Helpful!!
Not to mention you are very entertaining.
Well done and from My Family to Your Family a Very Merry Christmas . I also wish Yours the Very Best for the New Year. Barry and Family.
The center portion of the hoop was from a 14 x 96 frame. The side portion is 1 1/4 EMT. I bought a bender online so I could make that angle to turn it down to the ground. The bends aren't perfect, but they're close.
You did a GREAT Job!!! Can't wait to see see it full of nice tomatoes and other goodies coming up real soon!!!
@Sheila6325 There is ALWAYS a reason. It was an impressive operation for sure. Thanks Sheila...and thank you for the support. :-)
God bestowed some awesome wisdom unto you my brother. Thank you for some ideas for our high tunnel green houses. God bless you as well
I always enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work. I have learned a lot.
I bent the side supports with a bender that I bought online. It did a good job on 1 1/4 inch EMT. Yes, this is 6 mil greenhouse plastic. UV treated to last about 4 years.

@22justus2 My wheels are always turning, trying to think of ways to solve problems, or to do something better. The curtains are really easy to make. I'll show the process a bit later. Yes mam...patience, patience, patience...there is a reason for everything. :-)
@Helioforge Thx Pete. Yea, that snow played havoc with your strawberry cover..time for plan B !
Thanks for the idea for rolling up the side curtain. Going to use that one for sure. God bless
Thats for sure. I got it done, but I don't know that I'd want to try it again. But I never say never !
The center section was a commerical hoop that I stretched wider. The sides are 1 1/4 EMT and I put one bend in them with a bender that I found online.
Great looking greenhouse. You should be proud of yourself.
Sounds fine to me. I'm just a regular country boy, so I'm not sure how much I could help. But, I would certainly try.
@farmgirlginaB Thanks Gina. Where there's a will, there's a way ! I hope the seeds do well for you. You're welcome and Merry Christmas.
@shartne No sir...its pretty common on the larger houses. I used the parts from the used frame I had to make the first curtain, and one more on that side. I had to buy new parts and make homemade curtains for the other side...they turned out just as well. I might need a golf cart to ride around inside...LOL Thanks.
great job! its amazing how you did the roof cover alone!
@gardenvespers777 Thank you. You gotta think outside the box sometimes...I do it a lot ! ;-)
@wmkk808 Thank you sir ! Yep...planting is underway now. Ready to roll !
Great Job Bobby.....you should be proud! Very Impressive !
Very nice, and i can tell youll be very busy from now on.its always great to your vids.Very nice greenhouse
