Fun Fact: If you address letters to St. Pierre & Miquelon to France they'll arrive there much faster than if you'd address them directly to St. Pierre & Miquelon. Like multiple weeks faster. Just see St. Pierre & Miquelon as an area or city of France and address it this way, ending in the Country of France...
Djibouti Francs? Did you say 'Djibouti Francs? Did you actually pay in Djibouti money?
Even though the man you are sitting next to’s face is blurred out , you can tell he is having a stare down with your camera , Noel 😂
He wanted to be on camera 😂
I want to see Noel have a thank you duel with a canadian
Sorry, Eh!
I flew Air Saint-Pierre several years ago from St. John's to Saint-Pierre. Was a lovely flight! I had to laugh at all the French passengers who had boxes of Tim Hortons donuts they were bringing back. Meanwhile, I was loading up on their much superior French pastries. 😆
....bring tim hortons things...omg. were they french tourists???;)
@@artiomthomas7040 the St Pierrais often go to NL& Lab for Tims and medical appointments ....The ATR 72 is usually full of locals and a few tourists , Nflders on business etc. Intermarriage between StPerrais and Nflders common . , great place , always enjoyed it, and have friends .
Noel, I am drunk again. I've taken a drink every time you've said St Pierre and Miquelon
I'll drink to that!🤣😂🤪
You mean St. Pierre and Liquoron?
Still better than better than Parabadoo
A glass of champagne every time he says, "Merci" 😁🥂
I'll join ya
Fascinating! The locals even sound like proper French. I was expecting a Québécois accent, but I didn't hear it.
To ear kind of Québécois/Acadien type of French while being near the Canadien East sea coast, you need to visit les Îles-de-la-Madeleine…😎
What else did you expect? As Noel repeatedly mentioned, the islands are an integral part of mainland France. Like Réunion in the Indian Ocean.
Fascinating Vlog….i had NO idea that was French territory, huh! I’m curious how this tiny enclave can support a transcontinental flight especially since it can’t fly full due to short runway.
1. Did they do a throttle up, then release breaks?
2. What % capacity was the flight ?
Great video! Learning more every time 😀
@@BLESTAGE Looks gorgeous. I do ok with the accent in places like Montréal, but it seems like the further east you go, the faster they talk! That's when it gets really hard to understand.
@@Retiredtraveler1961 well...this is la France
Love the ASL director on the flight making a speech and offering champagne. Nice touch.
Fancy to have the CEO and some champagne on a good-looking but relatively basic airplane!
Hey Noel! I'm from St-Pierre 👋😊 Been following you for several years so that video is crazy to me! Noel Philips does fly everywhere all over the world 🙌 Cheers !
St. Pierre and Miquelon have an interesting history. They were retained by France after the British took over the their North American colonies. They later became a port base for French fishing ships working in the region's waters. During the American (and Canadian) alcohol Prohibition period, it reached its economic peak as became a key place to smuggle alcohol into the US and Canada from Europe.
The mix of vehicles is interesting of European French brand and made models and 'imported' North American brands and models.
Interesting!
It was also briefly an Axis outpost in early WW2, after the fall of France the Islands fell under Vichy control. Charles du Galle took a detachment of free French troops and invaded and liberated the islands 2 weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor without firing a shot.
I wish we could have the same here in France. Always fancied a Pick-up.😊
@@mrvwbug4423there were only a handfull of Gendarmes based on SPM at the time
St. Pierre and Miquelon also have interesting geography. Despite the location they experience a subarctic climate, like Yukon. Also, the warmest month is August instead of July.
Noel: I really enjoyed the tiny little island and the french accordeon music that came along with it.
When I win the lottery I shall move to St Pierre and Miquelon. And insist on only speaking Welsh.
Me, too. Just gorgeous. ❤🤍💙 I'll speak only Spanish. ¡Hola, amigos!
You used to be able to just do this, since all EU citizens (including British) are entitled to stay in French Overseas territories for an unlimited period.
I could just see a French speaker trying to pronounce Welsh words, It's hard enough for English speakers to do it haha.
@@aslobos Some Basque people helped colonise the islands after the end of the Napoleonic wars. Basque language was spoken on the island until around 1950 or so.
no sheep there
This is great. Two trips in one video! Love that. That little adventure to the Airbb was fascinating but at least you had a bike to get around the island! The things you do on your adventures. LOL!
Thanks for sharing with us this unusual flight to a very remote French territory. Being French myself, even for us it is really a remote place we don't really know much about.
Thanks for the currency conversion to Djibouti Francs at the end, would have had no clue what that price in US Dollars meant otherwise! 😂
Great video as always from you Noel, SPM looks like a smashing place to visit!
Why did he convert it to Djibouti Francs? I'm confused.
@@giovanni0908 pretty sure it's just a joke, converting it into a currency almost none of his audience use
Some years ago, we flew on ASL Airlines from Halifax *direct* & *non-stop* to Dublin. It was a very nice flight.
Ooh - Tim Horton's the great Canadian go-to for coffee and breakfast (their cheese scone/muffin things are something else). Good news is we have Tim's in Manchester now, so I can pop in and pretend I'm in Canada (🤣). Great film - Saint Pierre & Miquelon looks like a fascinating place. Love that you braved the bike. Cheers.
LOL. I always knew I was at the Montreal airport when there was a huge line at TH and barely a line at Starbucks.
Tim’s is also in Madrid. Was strange to see the writing in one of the restos “100 % Canadá 100% Gran Via”. Tried to order Double Double, what I usually do in a Canadian outlet, they did not sell it. Nothing like the Canadian menu. Not even Timbits.
@@Canleaf08 I saw that. I didn't dare. I didn't dare try the popeyes next door either.
Canadas worst coffee.
@@fadacious As an American who has sampled Timmies while in Canada, I don't see the appeal, Dunkin Donuts makes better donuts.
I'm french and I can't count how many times Monsieur Noel roasted us 💀💀💀😂
I bet you're hopping mad :)

@@florianpelin Not green with envy then :)
"French efficiency" 😂
Haven't lived in Canada in years. I had a good laugh when I heard the guy speak at 3:47. He's very much the Canadian stereotype.
Wow, I’m from Atlantic Canada (New Brunswick) but been in Halifax for a couple years now and was watching many of your videos just a few days ago, and now you come to visit the very streets I walk each day?! Of course I happened to be in Calgary while you just so happened to visit Halifax. I even recognized the guys at the Hollis hotel.
St. Pierre et Miquelon is another one of those places I've wanted to visit. Great stuff!
If it's Sunday, it's Noel Philips time! I love watching your adventures around this beautiful world - so much to see and do.
So, San Pierre is one of the few places in the world where the time is only +/- 30 minutes instead of the full hour like typical time zones are!
That’s likely to synergize with Newfoundland who is also half hour ahead of Atlantic Standard Time
This is false. They are -3/-2 hours to UTC in contrast to Newfoundland which are -3:30/-2:30.
Fabulous, a place I had never heard of or knew anything about. This is exactly why I love UA-cam so much..
Wow. Such an interesting vid Noel! The world is a fascinating place. Enjoyed it immensely! As ever, thank u for the ride!
Heyy Noel, great video, I'm pleased about your video, being a native from St Pierre , people around the world gets to see my home island. Keep up your video's
Finaly a great review on this trip ! I think you’re the first one to publish this route !
Nice touch of the CEO of ASL !
Thank you Noel ! 😄 Greetings from France !
Glad you enjoyed it
This video was awesome!! Now THESE are the types of videos I love watching. Obscure off the mainland outlying areas and connecting to the mainland. Loved it
Glad you enjoyed it!
I met some Frenchies from St Pierre in Kyoto of all places. Bon Chance, Noel!
Did you ask them about their route there? Via Paris or some West Coast airport? Then there are WestJet's flights from Calgary.
P.S. I spent the summer of 1971 in Kyōto. I didn't get to France until over a decade later. From Tōkyō.
I’ve seen a car from Alsace in Dildo and later one from SPM in Nfld near St John’s within a week just recently. I wanted to ask the Alsacians if they have been to SPM, but they drove away. And the SPM car was too quick.
Love the unusual airline and video as always Noel. Especially enjoy the random currencies for the cost of the flight too!
Thanks a lot sir,I have never heard of that beautiful place before
737 across pond rare.
WestJet operates Toronto to Dublin in a 737 in the off season. Icelandair also has a fleet of a couple 737MAXs and flies them to North American destinations. Narrow-bodies are becoming more common for “long and skinny” routes but the A321 is more popular for this.
A few years ago, ASL operated 737 service from Halifax via Dublin to Paris. We did the Halifax Dublin part.
Ref: F-GZTD ASL Airlines France 737-700. Circa 2017.
Not really. Air Canada and westjet both do it from Halifax and St John's. Remember from Halifax to Dublin is shorter than Halifax to Vancouver
Increasingly you see A321 doing it as well
737s and A320/1's fly those routes daily. Nothing special

a PERFECT 30 min video with my morning coffee ☕️😊
Yay! I suggested this last year. Glad you enjoyed Halifax, cheers!
Enjoy seeing these remote locations with a little bit of the town.
Great review, as always, and nice to see you in my hometown of Halifax! I now live on the opposite coast in the city you compared it to (Vancouver), but Halifax will always be home. Glad you enjoyed your stay, it is a lovely city. I've always wanted to visit Saint Pierre and Miquelon so thanks for the peak into this small French territory off the Canadian coast!
Wow incredible, thanks for sharing, you are always going out there on these quirky aiirlines and routes!
Glad you like them!
Love this Noel, a two in one 😂. The walk from the airport to airbnb was a gutsy effort, I’d have collapsed on arrival. Always great to see you in the air ❤❤❤
Great vlog as always! FSP looks like Norway, houses and all! Keep up the good work. Be safe!
This part of "France" is definitely has been on my bucket list! Thanks for sharing. Safe travels!
Yes, it's really lovely. Only French place far away from mainland France i've visited is St. Martin, which was quite interesting.
@BirteK1975 I would love it if i could drive there via ferry from Canada.
Glad to see you ended up taking this flight - I remember asking you a few months ago if it was on your radar :)
you got the champs and nice announcement cause they knew you was all in for abit of a bumpy ride lol
I live in Atlantic Canada, so I fly out of Halifax quite often and I think it's a very pretty airport with a very pretty view during takeoff☺️
Interesting video although the island is off the east coast of Canada not in northern Canada. Northern Canada would be the Arctic. :)
Great WF t-shirt Noel, we love the more unusual routes & keep doing what you do.
Finally Noel goes on an obscure airline that I've actually been on! St. Pierre/Miquelon is an amazing place - Europe in North America. And 99% of people in North America aren't even aware that it exists.
I'm so glad you finally reviewed Air St. Pierre! I flew with them some years ago and fell in love with the island!
British Pub , in Halifax Airport 🤔👏🏻; it is never to early for a British Pub🤔🤷♂️😂😂; airports & golf ⛳️ courses share the exemption of the taboo of morning drinking 😂😂👏🏻
I'll drink to that!
I left Halifax, by train, in 1956. I was hoping to fly there in June, but medical emergencies got in the way.
Well they have Tim Hortons in the UK now, maybe the Brits can open a Wetherspoons in Canada haha.
Nice flight, and walk Noel 😃!!
I have always wanted to visit St. Pierre and Miquelon, so thank you and well done!
Huh, reminds me of any island off the coast of Maine, where I live: no restaurants, no hotels, narrow roads which aren’t friendly to bikers/pedestrians…
The only time I use Airbnb is if it's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than a hotel. I agree Noel that hotels are just much better. You get more services for your money.
HYPER U! Spent a lot of money there when I was in Tahiti, it's basically French Walmart.
Nice video. Thank you for the adventure.
Glad you enjoyed it
What a fun adventure! Love when the videos are over 25 mins!!! Excited for your next one as always :)
Glad you like them!
Love the longer vids like this!! And Noel, you put in quite the exercise on this trip too, I don't think I've ever seen you breathing so hard 😂 ❤👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Entree on tray. So good. One of the many reasons I just love adventuring with you Noel!
EPIC Video Noel! I Really Enjoyed This One and I can’t wait to try this someday! French Canada 🇨🇦 is INCREDIBLE very beautiful and I can’t wait to visit it someday when I’m better at me French that is! 😂
Cheers 🥂 mate! St. Pierre looks really cool I’ll have to add it to my bucket list!
Hope to see you at Oshkosh 2024 in a few weeks. 😊

Really enjoyed this video. What a beautiful island. Also totally agree Halifax is beautiful like most of Canada
Great work, my friend. It was an honor to see you all in KC.
Thanks for the video, Noel, your hotel looked very nice , travelling is very tiring love the tane off and landing both my favorite bits, thanks for sharing those moments 😊
Glad you enjoyed it
I've never been to Halifax area nor St. Pierre & Miquelon. Closest there for me is New Brunswick from Canada and Maine from the States. Thanks for showing us the area. Cheers
you ffwd the most exciting part of the trip, the short runway take off!
Love this trip so interesting
As someone from Newfoundland that has travelled to Saint Pierre by ferry, I’ve always wanted to go on the plane there!! Awesome video! You should come back soon and travel to Nain, Labrador on a Twin Otter! Cool small flights up North, would be a very cool experience and video to watch!
Agree! I’m from Newfoundland and have gone to Labrador several times by small plane. Once to Saint Pierre by boat. Thought the experience Noel showed was similar to travel to Lab, and the Saint Pierre landscape looked just like home.
If you travel by ferry, can you bring your car?
Very cool!!
Thank you for the video 🙏
My pleasure!
Great video! I had no idea that transatlantic flight existed... and it's not such a crazy price. It's hard to navigate to book it on a complicated website that looks like it's trying to make it a secret.
Glad you enjoyed it.
OMG the thumbnail!!!! 😆😂😂😂😂🤣 too funny!
So nice ! I used to be a pilot on what was before ASL , Europe Airpost and before that the mythic Aeropostale.
Thanks again!❤🎉
Love the addition of the french music while you were riding the bike! Very nice touch.
Glad you liked it!
A very picturesque island, I’d never heard of it. Fascinating.
I am fascinated by this exclave of 🇫🇷!
Actually, not an exclave at all! Unless you consider the Channel Islands exclaves in France... Well! maybe after all...
So pleased to finally see this place. We nearly went on a cruise a couple of years ago that would have stopped there.
Interesting destination and I couldn't help noticing you riding a bike on a sunny day with clear skies while wearing your jumper.
My grandfather used to fish off the Grand Banks 40ish years ago and they would take trips into St Pierre and bring home cheap rum to Newfoundland. Very unique place! It feels like a Newfoundland island like Bell Island or Fogo Island but with French speakers and more cool cars
Also, the ferry is known to smell like Mary Browns chicken as a lot of people on St Pierre order it from Newfoundland to be brought across lol it’s that good!
You put your passport in the seatback!! even if just for a second possible disaster ! lol another great video
I live in Montreal and ever since I heard of Saint Pierre & Miquelon I've had my eye on doing this exact trip/vacation someday. Thanks for showing it to us!
Road trip !
Thanks for this video. St. Piere and Miquelon has always fascinated me.
We live in Alberta, Canada and do intend to go to Newfoundland and take the ferry across to the islands.
This os actually the first video i have ever seen about the isands.
Newfoundland is the only province this Canadian has never visited.
Ive flown over the Northwest Territories often enough, but never set foot in them.
One of your best videos so far
Just when we think you’ve hit all the « weird routes », you surprise us once again! Merci!!
I think a drinking game where Noel says "So here we are on the flying to ". A lot of liver transplants would be required. Another great video showing something out of the ordinary.
hey noel im from nova scotia just wanted to say hope you enjoyed Halifax lived in that city for a few years and loved it
Great video! I didn't know you were a Why Files fan like me! Anyway, fascinating destination.
Cool video! Really entertaining.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I am really glad you put the price in Djibouti francs, it is the only currency I understand! 😂
I really enjoy your escapades Noel! After being too scared to fly for nearly 20 years (long story) I flew to see my bro in USA from London, and to a cruise, and I’m hoping your videos will turn me into the aviation geek I really am inside! Keep up the good work!
That's awesome!
Always love seeing when you’re in Canada, especially on the east coast where I’m from. Hoping to run into you one of these days, better still if it’s a flight I’m operating. Cheers, mate.
YES!!!!!1 I've been waiting years for someone, anyone, to review Air St-Pierre, because as a Canadian, I've wanted to visit our little slice of France (désolé Québec 😢). Great work Noel, especially catching their seasonal 737!
Glad I could help!
Noel on a bike.................... totally awesome! Tour de France next?
Trivia time: the airport in St-Pierre was built by a Canadian company from Québec. One of my wife's uncles worked on that project and sadly passed away in St-Pierre while working on that project. Additional fun fact: there is a ferry from Newfoundland to Saint-Pierre, which means you can technically drive from Canada to France or from France to Canada. A friend made the trip a couple of years ago and last week I saw a Chevrolet Blazer plated in Saint-Pierre in Montréal.
As a geography nut, Pierre & Miquelon has always piqued my interest. I am really happy you made it and did a great video! Thanks, Noel!
Glad you enjoyed it!
oh I thought it's basically what I've seen on Alex Praglowski's channel but the transatlantic flight is new and interesting.
Also thanks for fixing the sound problems that were present in some of the past videos. Much better now!
I feel like I'm one of very few that understood that Airplane! fish reference
"Mercy, bye bye" 🤣
Quite interesting!
It’s so interesting to see these small airports. I haven’t been to Canada myself, hope I can visit these places someday.
I was working for a short time in Buffalo NY, my coworker asked if I had ever seen Niagara Falls..we hoped in the car and I called my husband and said guess what "I am in Canada"
My impression of St-Pierre is have an island that is about as remote as quite a few towns and villages on the Russian Arctic coast. St-Pierre sure isn’t as well-connected as metro areas whose airports I’ve ever flown into but that may be part of the charm of visiting SPM.
@@robyn0524 I’m from the Southwest, the farthest north I’ve been is in Washington 😂 It was nice of your friend to bring you to Canada, your husband must’ve been so surprised haha.
@@wainber1 It must be nice to go to St. Pierre, all that peace and quiet around you. I reckon people go there to just unwind from the hustle and bustle of the city.
