What blows my mind before producing these incredible pieces is the ability to "hear" these different songs come together into a single melody. That's magic!
Right??!?! Was just watching the Metallica/Megadeath/Pointer Sisters mashup.....brilliant that anyone could see it all together like that.
For sure the melody is important, but I'm amazed by how the groves line up so well (unless he's doing that?). They're frequently swinging the beat the same and both tunes are grooving together.

This has to be one of your best pieces. Honestly, there should be an award for this level of incredible artistry. The mix is great. The artist selection, cutting and pasting, and resulting interplay is great. The end composite composition is as good as, and then I must add, better then the individual songs themselves. Please don't stop making these. There is so little that makes me smile and laugh these days - and this was just wonderful. I salute you!

Agreed. Then he goes from that into a bridge section that was all his doing. Followed that up with bringing in the background vocals of Buffalo Springfield. Always thought that was one of the best part of the song and missed them in the first few verses. Sweet

I love how absolutely seamless all of these are. If you hadn't heard the songs before and didn't know it was a mash-up you'd just think this is how it always was. Hats off as always
This is why I think Bill is a better mashup artist than DJ Cummerbund. Cummerbund has some amazing tunes, but his stuff is never seamless. Bill’s songs feel like they’re original recordings that just didn’t happen in this universe. Cummerbund’s stuff, while really good, goes out of its way to show its artifice and remind you that it’s a mashup.
Seamless, and now Timeless.
This just proves that if you want good music, you have to turn off "modern " music and go back at least two decades.
& the mashups must have been carefully chosen bcuz only certain 1s would work 2gether
Randy Bachman, of The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive fame, once explained on his CBC Radio show "Vinyl Tap" about how mash-up songs work the best when you can find two or more songs with the same or complimentary time signatures so that weaving the individual songs together is made generally painless.

Another hit straight out of a parallel universe.
That funky bassline carries this all the way through and bring everything together so wonderfully.
Flea from RHCP wrote that bassline, got paid something like $150 and no points.
$200.
They had a written baseline, he played it, then with the extra time he improvised over the track. The producers cut out parts of his improvisations and rearranged the track around them.

As well as the VH one and the Slash one they all worked really well.
I had to go listen to it to make sure he hadn't completely autotuned it into something different melodically. Mostly because I couldn't see it fitting there so well.

The clip was probably from one of those shows when Neil refused to lip-sync on camera. He hated it then & probably still does now. So he either shows up at the studio & refuses to appears on-camera or not at al.
