If you haven’t left yet, I would be glad to to help out if I can. I have a heavy duty pick up, we could load a bike in it. Also, I would have no issue riding one of your bikes from there to here, but I understand if you don’t like that idea!! Whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck on getting moved, it’s never fun!!!
Patrick, I can’t thank you enough for the offer. If I need that, I will reach out. Love this community.
Have a safe trip my friend. Moving is always stressful, sounds like you have a good plan in place.
My friend, what ever you do, be well. I am glad you're coming to the near south. I'm sure you'll enjoy.............Bob
How about U-ship? I had my Gold Wing shipped from Dayton OH to NYC for about $300. Probably double that now. I would prefer to ride though.
I would just your company pay to move them since it’s a work move. And u-haul will also rent you the hitch. You can even go to u-ship and people will bid on moving them. And you can map all backroads. Set you gps to scenic route only. Sounds like a great problem to have. I wanted to move south for years and the Mrs. Don’t want to move away from the grandkids. I said that’s what facetime is for. Good luck and Ride Safe.
We have wanted to come up with a chocking system to be able to use a Uhaul for two bikes. Have yet to figure it out. Was about to suggest to talk to the moving company to move one of them and ride the other, but you already have it covered. And shipping one is a mixed bag. Getting Scarlett and Cherry across to Australia was an experience. Looking forward to seeing you in your new home.
I think my issues pale in comparison to what you two went through. You set the bar on your move.
@@Broncoride not a goal my friend. Not a goal. 🙃 Hope the move goes smoothly. Have many suggestions to help if you want them.
When you first started talking about riding your bikes, I was wondering how you would do that with two of them. Having one taken with your furniture is awesome, then riding the other is perfect.
Colin, you can't go wrong updating your truck with a hitch. For that matter, you can't go wrong with owning a small trailer either, you'll make more friends this way.
@@Broncoride Now you're talking...Remember it is easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission. Let me know how you make out. LOL
First off....moving sucks!....if your riding the street glide down and driving back....when you take your truck south...put the PA in your truck bed!?...great video...stay safe...ride safe!!😎🤙👍🤙👍🇨🇦
The neighbor I use to ride with took a job in IT with Nike. He moved down to Memphis Tn. The moving company that moved him loaded all the house contents and garage contents and put his Can Am Spyder on last. I would let the moving company transport it with your house hold stuff.
I was moving to Texas and when I was looking for a moving company I asked them and the were going to build a crate to put the bike in. They said they do it all the time.
I could volunteer to ride the Pan Am down for you (haha). Going down 81 does kind of suck, I found it a little more tolerable to head down to Charlottesville and pick up 64 to 81 a while back on my first trip to Maggie Valley.
I just got back from Georgetown pike va went to the falls. On the boarder of Maryland.
North and Western Maryland have some great roads for sure. Great Falls is a beautiful area too. I believe that is where you were.
Ride one bike and make it a 2-day bikecation (If time permits). Then do it again with the other bike. We never had to make a move with our bikes, so we have no real suggestions. Sounds like you got it all figured out.
Congratulations on your move. We'll be neighbors next year. I'm trying to figure out how to get six bikes down there from NH. Maybe I can get a good rate on a whole transporter.
Do you know which town you'll be living in? Best of luck Colin.
I will be living near Pigeon Forge and 6 bikes, wow!!! Get a shipping service.
Sounds like you have a solid plan in place! If it were me, moving by myself, I'd ride one down, get a bus ride back to MD, pick up the 2nd bike, and then ride that down. Job done!
On a side note: how do you not have a hitch or anything on your truck? My last 4 trucks all had 2" receivers, so less than $50 later I had a hitch and could attach a trailer. FYI, U-Haul rents 1-motorcycle trailers, I haven't seen a dual setup... but I have seen pics of people putting 2 bikes on an open U-haul trailer.
Dude, you’re right. No reason why I don’t have one. Just never needed one(until now).
@@Broncoride Hey, it happens. I think I got my first one at Home Depot in anticipation of needing it to tow a uhaul trailer.
Hey Colin if i lived closer to MD you could use my trailer or i would trailer them for you. it holds 2 full HD baggers. Good luck with the move hope to bump into you this summer when I move down to TN.
Good Luck on the move and finding new cool roads to ride
Mike, I truly appreciate that. So cool for the offer. Let me know once you get down here.
Ask for exclusive service with the van line. Get several estimates and don’t be afraid to negotiate. Trucking rates are in the dumpster right now! Good to move before kids get out of school and movers get busier. There are a LOT of crooks in the moving industry.
Hello Colin, Off subject but after reading a John Elway quote ("Kneel on my field and you are fired!") I may just become a fan of the team (or GM, or Qback)) I have hated for over 30 to 40 years! Being a SD Charger fan growing up there is an unwritten rule in San Diego that if any pro sports team leave San Diego for LA you are not allowed to root for them.
I would find someone you trust in MD, and have them ride one of your bikes with you, then fly them back.
Collin there is another option and shouldn’t cost more than a couple of hundred bucks. One the second bike ride and book a cheap flight back. You get to rides out of the deal. I just don’t know how much moving companies know about strapping down a motorcycle. The A-holes could damage it.
👍👍
Hey Collin ! Congratulations on you new endeavor. 4 words on putting your bike on the moving van “DO NOT DO IT !!” When I moved from Texas from NY the moving company told me the same thing. “Oh don’t worry about it. We do this all the time”. At the time I had the exact same 2017 Streetglide you have and I regret ever doing that. There was damage. I would also ask if they go straight to you destination or do they share the truck and split it at a local depot. That happens more then you think. If I might suggest? Use the bike transport company. Well worth the extra money. Ask you Harley dealer. They always have one or two they use and can recommend. My buddy did that option when he moved here from NY with no issues. Lots of luck brother!!
