I agree that the Big Horns aren't as popular as Yellowstone and the Tetons. But they the Big Horns are very popular now. I've lived in Buffalo for 43 years. We use to go up and hardly see anyone. That has changed with social media. The Big Horns are very well known now. I bet the water was cold. I've swam in some of those creek holes and high mountain lakes. Great job on your video. That area is beautiful. We have a couple fire lookouts in the southern half of the Big Horns. I did a video on one of them.
Thanks for the kind words! You make a good point about increased visitors. The Bighorns are less known but certainly more crowded than back in the day. The same is true pretty much everywhere here in Colorado. Everywhere is more crowded. Cheers!
@@Justin_Hikes My wife and I used to live in Sheridan, WY. We sold our house there and because Full Time RVers, and we full time RVed across America for just over 2 1/2 years. We stayed in a lot of National Forest, and on BLM lands out west. I can tell you that none of the National Forest we stayed in were as bad about people ignoring the 14 day stay limit as they are in the Bighorns. We also have friends ( Marc and Particia Guido, from Grand Adventure on UA-cam) who have camped all over the U.S. and Canada in National Forest, and they said the same thing, they said they had never seen National Forest as bad as the Bighorn Mountains when it comes to people leaving their RV's in the National Forest and not using them. They just hog spots so others can't use them.
@@utahdan231 It's so alive with native spirit, it would be a shame if it ever were to become more popular. Locals have respect for the land. Tourists...usually don't.
@matildagreene1744 I'm coming to visit Bighorn and driving down from Saskatchewan, Canada. I will be respectful of the land. Very excited. I'll keep it a secret.
Greetings from Bighorn Mountain. I am currently doing a video of our visit to this remarkable place. I am amazed by it. Love your video and appreciate your hard work. I started my own travel channel in January and look forward to hitting 1000 subs and the 4000 watch hours. I love the challenge and especially enjoy sharing this gorgeous country with as many people as I can. I have gobs of information and experience because I’ve traveled this country fulltime for over 31 years and been to over 250 National Parks and hundreds of State Parks and other public hiking locations. Many of which you have been to. Safe travels to you and yours. Edit on!
My wife and I just did Porcupine falls and Paradise Falls. Left Billings, went to Lovell and on through the bighorns. Great hikes, a couple of moose and amazing scenery. Of course we always take our pontoon to Bighorn Canyon
I worked in Yellowstone for three summers. And if you want to go to Yellowstone, its best to go after August 15th or there about. Because, that is when lots of kids have to go back to school. And College starts in lots of places. Also all the services are still available in Yellowstone still. Plus, if you like to hike, grab a lunch from one of the Cafeteria's and hit the trail. You will be alone after about a half mile, except for other hard core hikers. So don't let the "Crowds" fool you.
This was a surprise highlight of our trip. Visited Ten Sleep then Highway 16, camping near Meadowlark Lake. Be sure to take Crazy Woman Canyon Road - that was fun.
Right on! We’re saving Crazy Woman for our next trip. Also eager to hike deeper into the Cloud Peak Wilderness. Got shut out due to a summer snow storm last year in early July. Cheers!
If you’re pulling a trailer or driving a motor coach… remember, in Wyoming it’s illegal to block more than three vehicles behind you. You are required to pull off at the nearest parking area and allow traffic to pass.
October 5th 2024 The Big Horn mountains have been on fire for over a week now. The Elk Creek fire. So if you go there thinking it's going to look like this video.... Not anymore sadly...😢
We love the Bighorns but they definitely are getting more crowded. Although- I do have to say- if you are looking for the Tetons you might be disappointed with the bighorns. A lot of the places to get to from the highway are full of trees.
Hi. I appreciate your comment and I've given it some thought. I don't doubt the Bighorns are getting more crowded these days. But I am still able to get a National Forest campsite in the heart of the Bighorns in peak season. I'd be hard pressed to find available campsites in the Tetons and Yellowstone. 😀 As for disappointment, I understand your point. As you say, it depends on what people are looking for. If you just want to look at the mountains from afar then it's hard to beat the grandeur of the Tetons. But if you want to hike and explore, then how can you be disappointed in the Bighorns? The Cloud Peak Wilderness is amazing and there's so many off the beaten path places, as I've tried to feature in this video. Cheers!
The bighorns used to be really cool, now they are overcrowded with those making the trip to Yellowstone, same crowds, people are starting to chose these places over Colorado though, it seems to be getting less crowded
No there is nothing like this in the big Horne's. It's just baren rock. No wild life, nothing can live there. Stay home, wyoming is a desolate place. Yellow stone is the only place to see.
If you enjoyed this video, please consider liking, commenting or even subscribing. It's the only way the algorithm notices me. Cheers!
Your videos are great! Love the google earth feature you did
Thanks so much! I was really hoping folks would like the Google Earth animations.

That canyon looks like the Grand Canyon that's pretty cool
It’s pretty awesome. I suspect many people have never heard of it. Definitely worth a visit.
Here in Wyoming, we close the gate behind us. Enjoy the trip, but let everyone know it's horrible... keeps things quiet ;)
Sure Justin, bring the crowd to the Bighorns...UGH
Don’t worry. Not many will go there.

Right on Robert! Sounds like a great trip. I never fail to see moose in the Bighorns. Cheers!
I love tie flume campground and dead Swede campground. You should try fishing that river, it’s awesome.
I'll give Dead Swede Campground a try next time we're up there. Thanks for the recommendation. Cheers and happy camping!
How wonderful is that?!
Hi Julia, I'd say the Bighorns are indeed quite wonderful. I'm hoping to make a return trip this summer. Cheers!

Thanks for sharing! The Google Earth inclusion is very cool!
Thanks buddy!
I visited the Bighorns two years ago and am going back in late August, beautiful country!!!
Right on! Have a great trip.
My family camped at Crazy Woman while we missed the tv event of the century, the first walk on the moon.
Oh wow! I'm sure you caught the replay later. I'm hoping to visit Crazy Woman Canyon next time I return to the Bighorns! Cheers!

Those trails look sweet
Right on! There's endless hiking opportunities in the Bighorns!

There.good.🐈 there?
Wyoming native. Would 100% go to the Bighorns instead of Yellowstone or Tetons. (But would also 100% go to some places besides the Bighorns ;)
We did it in 1992. It was ok.
That's what she said!😂😂
Don’t tell anymore folks please!
The Big Horn Mountains don't exist.....

Wyoming sucks! Stay out!
No, let the CONSERVATIVES IN, KEEP THE DAMN LIBERALS AND CALIFORNIANS OUT!
