I've read about ten of Iain's novels and he is one of my favourite authors. I haven't read any of his science fiction books though. So it's his fiction books that have drawn me to get engrossed in his writing and genius imagination that has a lot of realism also. He is well revered throughout the literal world and has carved a niche in the writer's hall of fame. I first read The Wasp Factory in 1996 and have read a lot of his books through the decades since up till this present day November 22 2024. Whit was the latest book of Iain's I have read.

My favourite Iain Banks novel is "Raw Spirit".
He tells his working class mates in his local pub:
"Guess what you guys, My publisher has commissioned me to visit every distillery in Scotland and comment on their products."
One of his working-class buddies turns to him and says:
"You'll be wanting a hand eh Iain?

Met Iain in his books, but I feel like we knew each other personally, in the flesh. Miss him so much, and I console myself by going back and rereading his books.

It's a cosmic crime that we were denied more of his writing. The Culture stands above all other ideas as one that is truly aspirational and, in my hopes, ultimately achievable. Mr. Banks is sorely missed.
