I LOVE your vids. Please my 158edx I got is old. Got the box but I can't find my dam booklet it came with. I got 5 watts wanna go to 7. What pot is the am pot. I can't find on line
@@Rooster_Radio do you not recommend double antennas in general or just for this specific radio? I read somewhere that this has self calibrating swrs, is this true? Mine is going out with some static, you know what would fix that?
Band E and F is primarily ssb and code why not at least fm am prefer ssb myself if only stoner still made upgrade radio would get one as soon as billfold allow
The SSB equivalent runs about $200 more, maybe $250, so it's a great option for people who don't use SSB, which you might be surprised is a decent amount of people. Like I stated in the video, no point in paying for a feature you don't use
@@Rooster_Radio i agree i have seen a few i look at it as even if your an am only guy when you want to trade or sell the radio is worth less money not having SSB and a freq counter so if the person wants a bigger amp or radio and needs extra money to go after it down the road the value is lower with an am only radio even if you don't use SSB the trade and resale is higher when the time comes its better to get them with it and plan ahead than to be stuck and not getting the next thing the person wants or needs its like buying a smart car and then trying to trade it for a 4x4 lifted truck but at the end of the day people like what they like and do what they do do you know if this has the 2879s in it or is it a mosfet amp

Great stuff really love your in-depth reviews
That meter though 😂 it's getting down wit tha get down. Can't say I've ever seen a needle swing that hard. 👍
Definitely the radio I want. Been seeing it for a while now
Was it just me or did that radio sound really really good on the cobra ?
I like that radio. Be nice to have amp section switch!👍
73'S Rooster !!
That would drive the snott out of a 12pill , i like it 👌
Old DIRTY Nashville tn. 😁✌️
Waving right back dirty! Yes sir it would
hi rooster your a hero in the uk.do you deliver to the uk.im licenced ham
Nice AM radio! Do you have a frequency counter that will plug and play? Thanks for posting the video!
If the galaxy 98 had step child...

Gotta have me one of these
No FM? Only thing I find this radio needs. Other than that a real decent looking radio.
Great radio, what double antenas would you recommend?
I don't recommend double antennas if you're talking about on a big truck.
5 ft skip shooter or Stryker trucker do a great job

@@josecuellar1579 At all on a semi. Self calibrating doesn't mean self setting. It just means the radio will read swr without calibrating the meter
Great info, thank you for your time, sir ✌🏽
Question is does it got eight mustard or four 2879‘s or four 1446s
Mosfets
I got the ss148 pro. When i key up my lights intruck flicker off or on. And my tel tek cauge changes. Got wires straight to battery
Additional ground, and /or add ferrite to your coax as a start
Would this radio work well with an X-Force 8 pill 2879 Toshiba
Too much radio
Watts are misleading. How do you prove your frequency & time domains as you work on these radios ?
Who am I proving it to? You?
There's nothing to "prove". Either you believe it or don't, you'll buy it , or you won't. Life goes on regardless.
Now to open it up for 11 meter…..
No side band? Well that kind off suck right there. Will make a GREAT radio for truckers. Thats About it. 10-4-er
You think truckers are the only people that use AM? 🤣🤣
A whole lot of us work Am only. My conditions gotta be pretty bad and I’m jonesing for some skip if I’m working sideband 😂
Ranger /Galaxy radios are total garbage on SSB anyways so this is actually a radio ranger can probably do pretty well on.
My Ranger is a great SSB radio.
Is it ok if you run the rf power wide open I don’t use no amp
Wouldn't deadkey the radio over 100 watts
Halfway is the way to go because wide open my dead key is at 100
@@Rooster_Radio rf power wide open it keys up 100 watts read key and 249 average power
Beginner trying to understand here..........
Why would a high power, high feature CB radio like this be AM-only....?
AM is the most popular mode of operation on that particular band
Band E and F is primarily ssb and code why not at least fm am prefer ssb myself if only stoner still made upgrade radio would get one as soon as billfold allow
Looks like.a.98vhp kind of
No FM? no good here in the UK then.
Looks like copycat of galaxy cb radio.
the am guys will like this but its a no from me being no SSB and no freq counter
