I don't do well when it comes to stinging insects either... One incident that I can recall which gives some satisfaction was when a nest was built on the side of the house before we could deal with it a pair of doves built a nest right on top of it, giving their offspring a built-in food source. :-)

Nice work Lee, the bender worked really well for this application. When doing an offset like that, it is easier to eyeball the parallel -ness to get close to the angle on the first try. Enjoyed the build, take care and cheers!

Great job Lee! I've done 3 of these, 1 exactly like this, except the metal was new. Just an FYI, that is not a Yellow Jacket Nest, it is a Paper Wasp Nest... I couldn't tell you which wasp was which without a book if they both landed on the same flower... but the nests are committed to memory because they make no sense to me... the open faced nest (like that) is Paper Wasps, the big paper balloon hiding the actual nest combs, is Yellow Jackets... Oh, the Paper Wasp has a nastier sting than most other Wasps.

Really nice work Lee. As far as a larger trailer goes, I'd be worried about it standing that garden tractor/mover on end. I know I can pick up (by hand) the front end on my old 42" John Deere rider to put it on jack stands so I can work on the blades or get under the deck. You may have to build her a ballast rack to keep the front wheels on the ground. I know you can buy them but I'm pretty sure you could build a nicer one for less money.

This a great addition to any mower, but let me add a few words of caution from experience. First the metal will probably droop without a brace to the upper hole on the from. Secondly, and most important, with the hit so high she will run the rick of the mower tipping over backward on her the first time the trailer tires hit something in the yard. I speak from experience. Thankfully I was a heathy 30 something and could escape. I know you would rather not start over, but we all know you would not want your niece hurt.

I was looking at that same problem a while back. That hole in the tractor is only sheet metal and not real thick metal at that. I just would not use it for anything heavier than a dream. Look just inside the wheels on the axle housing there are a couple of bolts. This would be your ideal attachment point. Need to come horizontal off the axle there and then weld or twist your flat bar to clear the inside of the wheel coming back to join them at the back. Preferably with a weld at your desired height and a hole as you require. Now you have something that will not bend the first time someone steps on the trailer tongue. That sheet metal rear is really cheap but it appears on most mowers today. Take care. Doug

Regarding wasps. Have vinegar with You. Wetten a cloth with vinegar and hold against the place being stund! I've used it. It works like a miracle.

@@clifeddens1658 Completely true! Having other conditions, it can get very serious.
My suggestion only killed the intense pain surprisingly quick, a few minutes.

Nice video Lee! That press and jigs sure make for a nice finished product with the perfect bends! I was storing a similar size press for my nephew for several years, made several bending jigs and fixtures for it. He came and got it one day. Sure miss that press! Kept all my jigs and fixtures! Still looking for a deal on a press! Lol! Thanks for your time and sharing! 👍😎✌️🇺🇸

Nice job Lee - I'm fabricating one myself for my Toro Z4000 Zero Turn mower. It came with a nice hitch, but I need about a 2 inch drop for my yard trailer and a 2" lift for my landscaper trailer. So I'm actually welding up a 2" receiver hitch for my zero turn so I can just flip my hitch ball one way or the other pending which trailer I'm pulling. . Can I suggest to you to use one of those digital angle finders while making your bends? I have several of them in my shop for all my table saws and find them quite useful for bending angles as well as they do on my saw blades. They are quite compact, mine all have a swivel out screen (which helps viewing sometimes) and a magnetic base. The perfect solution for getting your bends perfect first time. Also - an impact wrench works best for tightening your hitch ball - no need for vise clamping. I hear ya on the yellow jacket stings - I was once stung over 100 times when I encountered a hornets nest walking in the woods at 12 years old. Lucky I wasn't allergic, but still a very traumatic and painful incident! Okay, thanks for another most enjoyable video my friend!

okay when you compared the two pieces of steel you were going to use for the tong part ruff 6:48 i did notice not sure if others did but its not the same piece whether you started with it is two different pieces bit wider and end round not the same plus has mill scale i don't relay give but no need to say one and use another just don't show the two and no one would be the wiser nice part but where you have it mounted to the lawn mower it will bend just under the weight of the trailer and pulling on this also not good as it will eventually give up cheers .

Also if anyone reads this don't use a torch near your house etc unless you know what you're doing and take the proper precautions so you don't burn your house down !

Please scrap that version and make a new one with less rise and stick-out to decrease the mechanical disadvantage.
