@@JStorm13 there is one notable exception & that is European soccer (think Real Madrid & Manchester United among others). Fanatics have yet to really break into the soccer market mainly because of the multi million dollar endorsement deals these clubs & the top national teams have with brands like Nike & Adidas to make their gear not only for the players but also fans (though some clubs like Barcelona & Juventus also make their own fan gear that is sold at a cheaper price & on sites like Amazon so that fans can still support the club without having to spend hundreds of dollars on the Adidas or Nike gear). Fanatics when it comes to European soccer, is only a seller of the authentic gear made by Nike & Adidas & they will likely never get involved in the making of soccer jerseys because of what I mentioned above. This is a good thing for soccer fans as it means that while you may be paying more for the jersey of your favorite team, at least it will be well made & not have any quality issues if it were by Fanatics.
You've probably seen it, but for those who haven't. The Hockey Guy just dropped a video regarding the MLB concerns as they relate to future concerns for hockey jerseys.
I have 2 MLB jerseys made by Majestic in 2007. They have been worn/washed semi-regularly for 17 years now and still in good shape. These new jerseys cost more and are built to wear out after two years. But this is what MLB signed up for when they got into bed with Fanatics.
Fanatics can be a pain in the arse to deal with. I'm a Detroit Tigers fan & the team's road gray jersey that features navy blue numbers (with the orange outline) has a small number under the "DETROIT" script. Even when you'd click on the pricy "authentic" option Fanatics doesn't show that small number on the front Why? Especially when you are spending the big bucks? I have family in Colorado & I think the white home Rockies jersey ( w/ the pinstripes) is quite tasty. Same problem. Fanatics doesn't show that they put the small number on the front of this jersey either. Local shops in my metro Detroit area do sell the proper authentic Tigers road jersey. Why can the locals get it right & national Fanatics cut corners?
Fanatics is notorious for cutting corners, especially with their quality control. But they're the only vendor in town, so they get the business of these leagues
I had an internship at Sears in college and there were specific areas they had boxed out on each garment where u had to fit the design into because it was a specific price to print etc. Just visually the second i saw the 2024 jerseys with the mlb logo on the back moved down the letters squished in with the number and the general cookie-cutter aspect of them it screamed cheap
100%. This was my first thought when I saw how small and tight the numbers/names/mlb logo was on the back. A decision made to save manufacturing costs so it can all be hot glued/printed in one go. All the while charging the consumer top prices. Not to mention it looks like shit. Praying the mlb will continue with the previous iterations of their jerseys, because these 2024 changes are cheap and transparent
These jerseys look like the kind of jerseys that will be used for maybe a year and remembered for the rest of time as one of jersey history's greatest colossal failures.
Have 1957-58 original White Sox home uniform. Made by Wilson, light wool. Cream color or slightly lighter. All sewn on numbers, logos, etc. Bat Boy’s 97 and love it. Received from parents as Christmas gift. They got directly from friend who worked in White Sox ticket office when new uniforms arrived. A treasure.
Uni nerds have been following this story for a while. Shout outs to Paul Lukas at Uni-Watch and Cris Cramer at Sportslogos. The change has been greatly anticipated. Glad to see it’s getting mainstream. Some other interesting things that people may notice: the head spoon (stripes that a lot of teams wear down the front and around the neck) are getting smaller, that’s why the mlb logo on the back got pushed down. Teams that had stripes near the end of the sleeve, but with some white sticking out, will now have the stripes cap the sleeves like on the Blue Jays example in the video. Most troubling are two more things: the break point for where the buttons split the team name, has moved. This means some teams, notably the Dodgers, now have the jersey break at a really awkward spot of the word mark (used to break between letters, now it splits the second “d” down the middle). And, as seen in the video above, there is a different material used for the word marks. The Phillies used to have a beautiful chain stitched logo across the front, now it’s going to be a flat placard. Same for the Cardinals (theirs still looks chain stitched, but it’s not stitched directly on to the jersey any more, it’s attached to a single piece of fabric, then that is sewn on). So if you’re in the market for an authentic, especially if it’s a Dodgers, Phillies, or Cards, you might prefer to look for a 2023 or earlier model (bonus points if you can go back to when Majestic made them and they didn’t have that ugly Nike logo on the front).
100% needed fans to see this!! Seen them in person last month and nope…. Didn’t like them you can see the difference in color, material, stitching, sizing of the letters and numbers… etc…. I’m glad i have the previous models. This new one’s a hard no from me.
The problem is fanatics bought Majestic pre-Covid, the jerseys were made by them with Nike logos, until this year. Now the Nike template has taken over
The first time I went to Chase in 2019, the store was selling authentic, on-court Warriors jerseys. When I went back in 2022, it was only swingman. I took one look behind the counter to now see a sign that said, "A Fanatics Experience". I figure that was why the authentic jerseys weren't available anymore. They've been so horrible for sports retail.
That side panel or “piping down the side” is where Nike inserted their material (which is mostly what the Jersey now is) in between the panels of material from the old Jersey. Everything about the Nike Jersey is made to be more ergonomic for the actual athletes (I bet it’s fits them like a glove) opposed to the usual below average fan build.
I'm a jersey addict and I love Nike (got a Jordan addiction) but I hope they didn't screw up the Cooperstown collection. I'm trying to find a angels throwback right now
Great video! As a jersey-buyer, I'm disappointed to see the lack of quality in the new jerseys. I personally like the nice, stitched twill numbers and letters, and by, seemingly, cheaply sewing them on, it takes away from it being authentic. Hoping they make changes before the season.
The best way the Fans can speak up is to not buy them. If they see that revenue is down they’ll make changes. Sadly I doubt that will happen. I need to buy as many Adidas NHL jerseys as I can because I’m not buying a Fanatics jersey if they end up like this crap.
If Fanatics and Nike can save a buck, they will. If they can save a few bucks, they will as well. Unfortunately, if MLB doesn't hold them to a high standards, there's no reason why Fanatics and Nike won't keep doing this.
As a soccer fan, this makes me worried about Fanatics possibly taking over for Adidas as the jersey maker for MLS after 2028 when the current deal ends. That could certainly happen given the fact that Fanatics currently operates the online store for MLS & has started to make their own fan gear for MLS clubs in recent years. For those wondering if Fanatics would ever make jerseys for European clubs like Man United, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Juventus, Liverpool or Barcelona among others, there is absolutely no way that those clubs would ever allow that to happen mainly because it would put their multi million dollar deals with brands like Nike, Puma & Adidas at risk. Also if Fanatics made the jerseys for those clubs, those jerseys would be sold all over the world meaning if there was any kind of quality issues, it would cause a lot of harm to those clubs reputation as a global brand.
Fanatics makes all the fan merch for Premier League that you buy (at least in North America) already. I don’t know how they cornered every major sports league so quickly and made them all look bad.
Anyone who wears an advertiser, uhm, i mean soccer jersey is nuts. The whole idea they've fed their fans that wearing a billboard for a corporation represents their "team" simply because the colour is a certain colour is flabbergasting to me. Advertising on a sports jersey is one thing, but with soccer it's the only thing!
One thing that hits me. How are they gonna behave when you wash them? Things that feel cheap usually crash and burn when you wash them. Imagine paying 300$ for a shirt that’s gonna get ruined if you wash it…
Fanatics is a mess. My advice buy from your team store. I always had good experiences from the Jays shop etc. The New Jerseys are different I can’t fully judge them until I see them in person. I don’t buy from fanatics unless I have no other choice. The new on field jerseys for the jays is different for sure. It’s a cheaper product but they sell for double the price. I rather buy from DH gate quite honestly.
I'm just glad that I'm well stocked on older jerseys for the teams I care about (Cardinals, Blues, and Rockies). I don't intend to buy anymore for a long time.
the new Nike Elite jerseys are exactly what you’ll get when ordering from overseas btw. I didn’t believe it myself until I asked the seller online who stated that “this is the jersey mlb has chosen to go with in ‘24. 3 “authentic” game day jerseys for a total of $78 shipped 👀 they look & feel cheap. The numbers fold and the away colors are very different (I have pictures if needed for one of your videos)
Stupid question: Is it possible to “weave” the team name, player name, numbers, etc directly into the fabric rather than sewing or heat transfer methods being used?
Hockey fan . Love hockey sweaters. Fanatics diminished the jersey collections. In NHL jersey you have to buy the top notch jersey or it falls apart. I have full authentic Adidas Flyers jersey that have all kinds of stains . The stains are trophies of excitement.
With the players, they will get the changes. Fans not so much. This reminds me of the nightmare of the original RBK Edge jerseys where water would pile into gloves and skates and by December of 2007 the players had the different material jerseys on the ice. $450 for a blank authentic jersey it better feel good and be worth it. Only worries me more about with the NHL jerseys next year.
As a consumer, I'm so tired of getting the gaslight treatment. These businesses all want us to never trust our own eye test. I don't have perfect vision (close tho with my contacts), but I can tell what looks to be a great product and what looks to be trash. These official on-field jerseys have never been worth the $400+ they have been charging the last few seasons, but are they really looking for those prices with this trash? Manfred is the worst. Just think about it like this - Manfred has allowed John Fisher to conduct himself in a reckless manner that truly disparages the sport and kills an entire community of fandom. John Fisher should definitely go away forever, but please take Rob Manfred with you. He is gaslighting us like crazy and the only way they'll respond is if we DO NOT BUY. Don't buy the trash. Don't do it, guys.
Great video. This doesn't surprise me. Things are getting more expensive and the quality is getting worst on so many items we see on the market today. Hopefully enough players will complain to make this right.
As an industrial embroiderer here in UK. I was laughing my head off when the GB letters on their uniforms started falling off. I felt that it was an insult to their pride having a uniform like that. I even tolf my husband I would have gladly embroidered it for them. The new jerseys are straight to fabric embroidery, while the previous one is what we call applique where you embroider a fabric into the garment.
Oh thank Buddha I got my road grey SF authentic last year. You absolutely cannot find them online anywhere…not even eBay so I had to give blood at the team store last summer but I got the last size 52 they had. They rarely restock them throughout the season as well. Feels and fits great.
What gets me is the stupid outrageous prices for a pro jersey you can literally buy a game issued or game used jersey off eBay of a current or former player for more than a 100 bucks cheaper then what fanatics or MLBshop charge you buy a game used one your guaranteed a real deal jersey
Sounds like they made a jersey that's more sweat wicking and more comfortable for the players. Unless the price of the fabric is more expensive than the old material, the new original jerseys should cost less for the fans who buy them.
NHL fan here. I finally got my hands on an authentic Adidas NHL jersey and I’m so glad I did before Fanatics takes over making hockey jerseys as well. Seeing how Fanatics massacred the jersey quality for the MLB terrifies me for what they will do to the NHL. Customers should boycott the new stuff! Don’t buy the crappy product! Force them to improve the quality or change manufacturers altogether.
nike makes a great uniform set in college athletics look at vanderbilt baseball for quality uniforms so clearly they can do it why the pros are using this down grade uniform is crazy to me college has been using these new space age nike lokin uniforms for a wile now and they are not these new mlb unis i thought that mlb would be upgrading to that but the onfield mlbbhnis look like the replica college unis
So all this stuff but the it’s not as comfortable and as good performance wise. Glad I still got my Majestic and Russell Authentic jerseys. They still going strong after many wearings
The MLB Jerseys to me seems like they are looking cheaper tyen the year before. As a PHILLIES fan people laugh at me when i tell them their Jerseys had 3 L's on tme . the Jersey from 1992 to a couple seasons after they showed the white alt home Jersey. PHIL LLIES was on the Jersey if you had it open but once done the first L in LLIES would over lap the L in PHIl when button up i thought it was the coolest thing ever but sadly MLB took it away . All 3 Jerseys had it the Home , Away & all white alt they wasn't on the replica Jerseys just the game Jerseys . All 3 Jerseys for 2024 just look cheap to me and as a hockey fan i think fanatics is going to make the NHL Jerseys cheap looking.
I wasn’t excited when they announced that Nike was given the MLB contract. They aren’t exactly famous for quality to begin with and then they defied MLB by putting their trademark on the front of the jersey and not on the sleeve and jock tag.
I’ve pretty much given up buying pro sports merch because of Fanatics. Which sucks because I’m a huge sports fan, but I’m not shelling out $$$ for merch that clearly looks like shit.
As a Jays fan who liked their previous uniforms, it's shocking to see the on-field pros in what looks like cheap plastic knockoffs. Losing that beautiful embossed logo really drags down the whole look. I wouldn't even consider buying a replica or the pro version. Sadly, this year, I catch myself focusing more on the cheapness of the uniforms than the beauty of the game.
That's the current world we live in. Everything costs more, everything is made cheaper. From food products to sports jerseys to even luxury cars. It's a sad state of affairs.
@@fpjrzman better to stop collecting new jerseys, is what I would like to say but casual fans buying the cheaper options must be the lion's share of their sales
@@ShadowWalker-ng1it considering I've got a feeling about LA changing their uniforms for next season and a Coyote migration to Utah, that's two for next season already.
I don't think that authentic jerseys are available for sale from Fanatics. The "Elite" jerseys are just better replicas. Anyway, we're missing the hell out of Majestic.
NIKE PAY ATTENTION!! Fans are one thing, but when you have players seeing the terrible changes. We have a problem, also the placement of the nike swoosh is in a terrible position. Putting it on the arms, I believe will be a much better look
Nike is ahead on everything. To an embarrassing degree. It may seem ‘cheaper’ but it’s not, Nikes materials are on a whole other level. Look into it, not to mention that they are extremely environmentally friendly. This is the same thing that always happens in US sports. “Oh No! It’s not the same thing my grandpa had!” Nike spends so much on R&D it’s why the own everything when it comes to sport and every athlete chooses Nike over everything else.
Are MLB teams allowed to do what the Packers do and have another company make their jerseys and put the Nike logo on it? I could see teams doing that if Nike/Fanatics don’t resolve the issue.
Fanatics is doing its best to monopolize every aspect of sports memorabilia and ruin it for consumers. Now that sports cards are under them too I'm sure they're going to ruin those too bu jacking up prices and lowering quality.
Just an embarrassment. My 31 year old '93 Phillies Russell Athletic made and Majestic 2008 Phillies jerseys still look and feel amazing today. Wasn't thrilled when Nike took over and slapped the Swoosh on the chest (obnoxious branding), quality of that felt different to me...and also far more expensive! But this is disgusting. These heat branded logos, how long before the glue weakens and fall off after multiple washes. Heck, sure a few shipped to people will have crooked glue logos . notorious from Fanatics. Even the Nike logo I hate on these new 2024 jerseys look kid of fake, a more rounded Swoosh. Total overpriced mess, ugh.
The authentic one looks from 2022 looks similar to the Majestic jersey venting in 2019. I just compared my game used Twins jersey to that 2022 one and it's pretty similar. These new 2024 jerseys are a MAJOR downgrade!!!
Mlb jerseys have been shit for years. Since Fanatics took over. The knock-offs feel more premium than the replicas. Spending 400 plus for the authentics is nuts to begin with.

Fanatics doesn't care about the customers. The players may sway them though. It's amazing how this company has such control over a company like Nike.
The problem is fanatics bought Majestic pre-Covid, the jerseys were made by them with Nike logos, until this year. Now the Nike template has taken over
Cant wait when someone goes to slide into home plate and the blue jays heat press logo peels right off
The first time I went to Chase in 2019, the store was selling authentic, on-court Warriors jerseys.
Random first impressions of this channel was some sponsored channel from some group, but turns out you just know production 😉
Great setup. 👍
I'm really enjoying your channel. I'm glad I found it.
Note to self: Buy pre-2024 Authentic jerseys (or DHGate)
I miss majestic jerseys
DHgate is fake
The best way the Fans can speak up is to not buy them. If they see that revenue is down they’ll make changes. Sadly I doubt that will happen.
I need to buy as many Adidas NHL jerseys as I can because I’m not buying a Fanatics jersey if they end up like this crap.
I won't buy any of the fanatics made jerseys, especially when they start making the NHL jerseys next year
Get over yourself
@@slapshotjack9806 I’m not afraid of you
If Fanatics and Nike can save a buck, they will. If they can save a few bucks, they will as well. Unfortunately, if MLB doesn't hold them to a high standards, there's no reason why Fanatics and Nike won't keep doing this.
A company known for producing poor quality is now producing poor quality jerseys. Who would’ve known 😂. I really miss those Majestics.
I think european soccer is safe from fanatics, mainly like you said different clubs have different brands, which is really nice and authentic.
The funny thing is with European soccer. The replicas actually feel higher quality than the authentics. 😂
The previous authentic jersey looks better. I definitely agree with you.
So the A’s Jerseys with the Elephant 🐘 logo on the side arm will be flat now ? And not 3D/ poked out looking anymore
probably
They look like a t shirt with a little cheap embroidery attached. Fit looks like a soccer jersey
the new Nike Elite jerseys are exactly what you’ll get when ordering from overseas btw.
It sounds like George Costanza when he was trying to change the yankees uniforms to cotton and it backfired lol
I have some fanatics jerseys from other leagues like the NBA
it feels so...flimsy
Man Canadians are so polite! He really didn't want to trash the jersey but the lack of quality is evident! Fanatics, Nike & MLB need to do better.
Hockey fan . Love hockey sweaters. Fanatics diminished the jersey collections. In NHL jersey you have to buy the top notch jersey or it falls apart. I have full authentic Adidas Flyers jersey that have all kinds of stains . The stains are trophies of excitement.
Cut through the advertising speak. They made a cheaper product but will still charge $200 for it because of inflation. That is what this is all about.
It looks like the same quality as my Oakland Chapman GameDay giveaway from 2018
Except now you will have to pay $400 for it.
It’s not just Manfred, it’s every league and every commissioner.
Tailors Brodie ahah, they make clothes. Found your channel earlier in the week; great content man
Teams should just use any leftover jerseys they have from last year.
Welcome to the world of shrinkflation. That is a battle the Players and fans may win but winning may come at the cost of an extra $50 Dollars.
Thanks to over a decades worth of centralised NIRP/ZIRP and helicopter money policies
Lets go Blue Jays.
Great video! Based on these trash jerseys my 2 new purchases are actually old jerseys. Russell Athletic and Majestic.
nike makes a great uniform set in college athletics look at vanderbilt baseball for quality uniforms
so clearly they can do it
why the pros are using this down grade uniform is crazy to me
college has been using these new space age nike lokin uniforms for a wile now and they are not these new mlb unis
i thought that mlb would be upgrading to that but the onfield mlbbhnis look like the replica college unis
THANKS FANATICS
We arch the names at the back if it's long otherwise it's staright. They are loweing the cost.
11:42 Fanatics make it based on Nike's design/template.
That's the current world we live in. Everything costs more, everything is made cheaper. From food products to sports jerseys to even luxury cars. It's a sad state of affairs.
Thank you @mikehoserthecloser (& @brodiebrazil )
In football (soccer) its the opposite, the fans have stitched and the players have plastic or rubberised
Keyword in all this is Fanatics.
Bring back Majestic, their quality was superb
Majestic was bought by Fanatics in 2017. Fanatics still makes these crappy jerseys in the same factory that used to belong to Majestic.
Could you imagine if the A's were picked for a city connect?
It cost over $600 Canadian for an authentic jersey
for real???
NHL has a 10 year contract with fanatics for the on ice jerseys.
....and as a collector of hockey jerseys I'm terrified
@@fpjrzman better to stop collecting new jerseys, is what I would like to say but casual fans buying the cheaper options must be the lion's share of their sales
@@ShadowWalker-ng1it considering I've got a feeling about LA changing their uniforms for next season and a Coyote migration to Utah, that's two for next season already.
I don't think that authentic jerseys are available for sale from Fanatics. The "Elite" jerseys are just better replicas. Anyway, we're missing the hell out of Majestic.
I believe it may be called a seamstress. One who "sews" and makes garments.
I hope this is the biggest controversy in MLB this season.
NIKE PAY ATTENTION!! Fans are one thing, but when you have players seeing the terrible changes. We have a problem, also the placement of the nike swoosh is in a terrible position. Putting it on the arms, I believe will be a much better look
I swear I already saw these jerseys at Family Dollar.
Can't wait to see what nhl fans have to say when they switch...
All NHL sweaters should be wool only. Lol
i wish they made authentics in size 36,,, 40 is just oversized on me
Most jerseys you see on fans at a game are counterfeits. These (particularly when you see the name/number on back) look like the counterfeits.
Cardinal players said the same thing...
Theyve had quality issues with the NHL jerseys as well.
As someone who is visually impaired I honestly can’t see what the problem is with the new MLB jerseys
Nike is ahead on everything. To an embarrassing degree. It may seem ‘cheaper’ but it’s not, Nikes materials are on a whole other level. Look into it, not to mention that they are extremely environmentally friendly.
This is the same thing that always happens in US sports. “Oh No! It’s not the same thing my grandpa had!”
Nike spends so much on R&D it’s why the own everything when it comes to sport and every athlete chooses Nike over everything else.
I just order from fake sites. Sure the shipping is a pain but it’s nearly the same quality as fanatics anyways. But 1/4 the price
Facts
3:27 a *swift*
Honestly, the players care more about the pants than the jersey.
As far as the fans, dont buy the jerseys...that will guarantee a change.
Are MLB teams allowed to do what the Packers do and have another company make their jerseys and put the Nike logo on it? I could see teams doing that if Nike/Fanatics don’t resolve the issue.
Really unfortunate. The prestige behind MLB jerseys is everything. Hate to see them cheapened in this way. Preparing for the worst with NHL lol
Fanatics is doing its best to monopolize every aspect of sports memorabilia and ruin it for consumers. Now that sports cards are under them too I'm sure they're going to ruin those too bu jacking up prices and lowering quality.
Remember... The NHL is moving to Fanatics later on this year technically next season...
Everyone wants majestic back
“Someone who makes clothes” the word you were looking for is tailor.
Thanks tips
He figured that out by the middle of the video.
These real life mlb 2k lookin jerseys are a huge miss
