There were some interesting boards this week. Board 1, I was in 4S and got a spade lead. I won in hand and played a club up, West popped. I was able to later ruff a club for +1. Board 2, I bid 3D which can be made. I didn't play spades early enough, but when they picked up the spades for me, I was able to make 9 tricks. Board 3, I led the jack of spades planning on popping the ace and playing East for the queen, West covered allowing me to get out for down 1. Board 4, I did the same as you and made the same 11 tricks. Board 5, I did the same thing as you. It's harder than it looks to make 11, cashing the ace of hearts doesn't work. It requires a first round finesse and then exit a diamond to later squeeze West, and leading the ace of hearts blows your entries. Board 6, I bid 1D on the basis that I didn't want to play a 4-3 fit with that hand. I competed to 3S and the defense found their heart ruff. Board 7, I went off in 2D when I ducked the club. I don't think the winning defense is very hard to find. I hate the 2D bid myself. Board 8, I held it to 9 tricks playing the queen of diamonds at trick 1.
I had an almost identical set. The only difference was B6 where I sold out to 3C. B1 I also opened 1NT. After a club to the queen I cashed all my spades and played up to KD. LHBot rose and cashed AC, so 10 tricks was comfortable - I didn't need to play it as well as you.
Tough week for me: Board 1: Opened 1S and played in 4S+1, on the same play as manudude for 89%. Board 2: Same contract. I did play a H over and led a diamond up, and it went horribly wrong. Down 2 for 28%. Board 3: Same, although I didn’t think as hard as you did about the SQ :-). Seems wrong that you then ended up with the same bad score as me. Board 4: I went quietly, scared by the vulnerability, and defended 2S+1 for 28%. I guess when I have that many points I should be putting up more of a fight! Board 5: Same. Board 6: I defended 3C-1 for 60% Board 7: Same. Board 8: Same contract, but I gave up an extra trick by cashing the SA before playing the DQ (which declarer then just wins) to get just 7%. Moral of the set: I need to be less afraid to compete at the 3-level. Just 46% overall.
My game: BD 1. Made 4S straight (I used a 3C game try to get there) because one of my hearts got ruffed. 57.1% BD 2. I actually passed and it passed out for 67%. I assume you're unhappy with my pass. BD 3. 4S down 2 sraightforward but 36% BD 4. 3C-1 50% down 1. I didn't want to double with only 3 hearts, out of fear of the Moysian. BD 5. 4S+1 93% I got the overtrick because (after drawing trumps and losing a finesse) West led the King of Clubs for a reason that's not completely apparent to me. BD 6. 3S-2 18%I did bid 1D, because I didn't have 4 card major. I guess, as a result I didn't get diamond lead (7H), and they got a heart ruff as a result. BD 7. 2D 57% not much else. BD 8. 3N by opps 86% I put the queen at tick rather than ace. It seems like that helped. 58% overall At 29:44, you show a username called Murboy, he appears to have also played my tourney. I'm a little confused how he's in yours and in mine, but you're not in mine......

Nick Anand They use results from a historic tourney so everyone compares against the same 15 players (I believe)
You woffle too much, get on with it.
