Mozart - Piano Sonata No. 12 in F, K. 332 [complete]

- The Piano Sonata in F major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, K. 332/300k, was written at the same time as the Piano Sonata, K. 330 and Piano Sonata, K. 331 (Alla turca), Mozart numbering them as a set from one to three. They were once believed to have been written in the late 1770s in Paris, but it is now thought more likely that they date from 1783. Vienna has been suggested as a possible place of composition, with others believing the sonatas were written during a visit to Salzburg where Mozart introduced his wife, Constanze, to his father, Leopold. All three sonatas were published in Vienna in 1784. The sonata is in three movements and has a conventional structure:
1. Allegro - in sonata form
2. Adagio - a slow movement in the key of B flat major
3. Allegro assai - in sonata form
A typical performance takes about 18 minutes (25 minutes with repeats).
The first movement, in sonata form, offers a classic example of a fake-out of an essential expositional closure half-cadence postmedial caesura extending the secondary theme zone and deferring the essential expositional closure to the next perfect authentic cadence. The second movement (adagio) is in ABA form. In the autograph, the return of the principal theme (measures 21 ff.) is essentially a literal repeat of its initial presentation. In the earliest printed editions, however, it is considerably elaborated.
The rapid finale is in 6/8 time. While it starts out with a forte chord and passagework, it concludes with a pianissimo cadence.

ENJOY!!!! :D
1:16 best part of the piece ever, this part my mother had been playing for more than 30 years without remembering the name of the sonata, now I was able to find it
I think this part, especially the cord is very modern.

II: 6:58
III. 11:55
The best comment, TY
The melancholic end 18:15 always gets me, Mozart is so deeply emotive.
I don't get how it is melancholic though...
1.Allegro 0:05
2. Adagio 6:56
3. Allegro assai 11:54
a wonderful piece of music played with great skill, confidence and respect, yet in no way uninhibited: inspired- it feels- by deep interest in the music itself, a rendition of glorious fluency, energy, nuance, depth, not least elation at having the music in mind and at one's fingertips
one of my favorite mozart sonata!
please listen to k 521 4 hands ..... my fav def his best 3rd mvt has a Spanish or latin feel in the middle of the 3rd mvt

Well spotted guys!
all videos of he are pitched up a semiton for no pay copyright.. sorry my english
I LOVE THIS! It's so cheerful and lively and beautiful and lyrical at the same time...
This is the best Mozart sonata hands down! It really sounds like some mid period Beethoven, so vigorous and almost romantic.
In the first section, the key signature is virtually ignored after a few bars. The poor B flat is cancelled so often that it has to reappear sometimes as an accidental in case you forget it exists.
It's a very well-known sonata but sounds totally new. Wonderful job!
Perhaps because this is in F# Major.
one of the beautiful sonata
Thanks for the recordings -- very nice performance, whoever it is. And thanks especially for the links!
1:20 ❤️
Completely now I fall into Mozart
masterpiece!
I've known this piece for a long time but I sometimes forget this beauty. Right now I was watching The Third Charm (K-drama, really really good, actually. Part of it is in Portugal and I'm from Portugal, reason why I started watching it). The second movement suddenly appeared in the end of episode 6 and now I'm again addicted to this piece. Yay.

I composed this for F major, not F# major! 😡
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart oh my gosh is it rlly u?????? Lol
You still have the rights, that's why
Your ear is amazing Wolfie! How could you fuck distinguish an F major from an f# major???
Mr. Mozart, I saw the tweaked photo of you smiling.
Sir, we wouldn’t want your music to um fall flat.
Yessss!!! Have been seeking for the masterpiece at 07:01
Hi babe
Yesss. Wow. It's great 6:57
A masterpiece that goes a long way back in my memory growing up, thankyou for this upload.
This version is my all time favourite.
Uchida
why the heck is it being played in F# major?????
+Ruby Rublesky It's F major ._.
+CEOofdeath Yes, the sonata is written in the key of F Major, but the player is playing it in the key of F SHARP Major.....check it with another recording, you'll hear the difference
ok
+Ruby Rublesky It's been jolted up a semitone in all the recordings, must be some copyright related evasion tactic!
nice
I have to say this is my favourite Mozart Sonata right now
Mozart is impressive from 1:15 to 1:25 and from 3:12 to 3:23 it does not seem classic but contemporary music!!!
I thought exactly the same !
This really reminds me vivadi’s summer (presto)
It sounds baroque ignorant! 😆
😆

4:20... i cry 😭
blaze it
When there are pictures of Mozart playing the piano at 5 years old, I imagine the kid composing these fancy sonatas, it's a pretty funny image xD
I think it's Mitsuko Uchida.
The only one.
。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。
Mitsuko Uchida doesn’t play this beautifully.
Beautiful
The 2nd movement is my absolute favorite!
Isn't it beautiful! It sounds deceptively simple, but the effect on the heart is absolutely amazing!
The third movement is stunning as well. It's operatic: you can believe Mozart had a leading diva of that era in mind when he wrote those brilliant soprano passages.
@@timothythorne9464 yes it pulls at your strings
beautiful performance!
Uchida
Unknown artist, and raised semitone rendition. Nice trick ;-)
Raised semitone. But unknown ? ( Mitsuko Uchida )
This is more of a 1880's cassete recording. That is why it's beutiful to hear.
And what a great composition in F (which is turned into F#).
1880s? Damn, this is pretty high-fidelity for a tape that old
Recorded around 1985 ( Uchida ) Sonata in F indeed.
This is Mitsuko Uchida playing. 100% sure. From her complete sonatas on Philips.
Do you like her way of playing? I think she is very good at impersonating Mozart :D
Yeah she is incredible! She has the most clean, perfect Mozart playing I've ever heard. Every other version I hear is always missing a little something special that she has.
Yes. It's from the complete collection of Mozart's Kochel Catalog.
Indeed she's Incredible!
Yes , but here semitone too high.

Was merely making note of the correlation. Thanks for the history lesson though. I bet you can't look up and tell me what years Beethoven, Bach or Brahms were alive.
One of my fav. Mozart sonatas !
I also analysed this piece. Love it ! ❤🎶
very beautifully performed.

Is the recording or the piano raising it by a semi tone?

I love this version compared to the one I have, it's crazy what a slight difference in tempo makes
The pitch too high !
Currently mastering the first movement of this :)
Whoa, I did not read "Mastering" right and I was like "Bro, you like mozart a bit too much..."

Que hermosa sonata
It's different from the others, i like it
super
I think the second movement is being played in B-Flat Major and not in A
Nice :D
It's verry great
Love story .....
Thank you for the detailed description in the info. I was wondering if this was written in Vienna. It definitely sounds like it to me -- I say that because his best work was written there.
For those of you who want to dig into some history that will prove both fascinating ... and rewarding. Mozart was friends with a man named Franz Anton Mesmer. Mesmer had the biggest impact you can imagine on our world today, except he is under appreciated in common thought and general education. Research and you'll find out why! Mozart's first opera was performed in Mesmer's theater. I assume it was ... Mesmerizing.
that's actually pretty smart

I like K.332 the best of all piano sonata.
I'm playing it, so yea
There is one wrong note in dominant chord in recapitulation after the bridge.
It's quite impressive people are able to spot tiny things like that.
this wrong note was written deliberety by WAM
Hey I have this book full of Mozart Sonatas and this sonata is included. The Sonata No.12 shown in my book consists of 16 pages, so I am asking if is the score in my book, the whole sonata? or some sort of movement?
Whole
If it says Sonata No.12, then it's the whole sonata.
very nice version. There used to be one of Nicolas Economou on youtube, but it was removed.. can somebody put it back?
:-)))))
This was played by Mitsuko Uchida.

Perhaps it would be played by.. Ashkenazy, or Rudolf Zelkin or RICHTER??!! Anyway it’s very nice interpretation!!
why are the versions you upload so clean

Great playing! I just uploaded this piece too :)
Salve Mozart......
This is not the original tune of the sound file. However, it's still sounding amazing!
to me it sounds even more beautiful
Mozart on dmt is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen
Hello sir! Would you give me the name of the pianist that plays the piece?
Mitsuko Uchida
Playing this song now...F# annoys the heck out of me though.
came here from your lie in april. This was the song kousei's mom watched him play before she died. the one where after she beat her son in the lobby. I'm glad it did. I'm starting to get more into Mozart I've been more of a Beethoven and Chopin guy.
also watching that series :) Well youve just mentioned a few of the greats, but indeed some people find mozart harder to get into (especially the 'happy' pieces, although there can be no such thing!). Other pieces you might like, if I may suggest, inlude mozart K 396 (Pletnev's) and Brahms op 118 intermezzo in A(minor and major). Sorry if u know them! Also, do you happen to know what is the first piece heard in the 19th episode (right at the start)...? it sounds like Bach but not sure!
MALICE MIZER interpolated the part at 1:20 in their song "記憶と空/Kioku to Sora".

Everybody is concerned by change in keys, but I'm just wondering why the channel is Mozart's gamertag
Incrível (。♡‿♡。)
am i allowed to upload this to spotify?
I believe the forte piano is tuned to pre 440 concert pitch
Originally normal pitch ( Uchida )
Copyright runs out 100 years after the creators death, unless he has an organization that retains it. I don't think it's necessary to raise the tone, actually.
Why is it sharp by a semitone?
