Sir I was selected in IISER mohali for Bs ms in 2014 through IIT-JEE exam.... But due to lack of knowledge .. I didn't take admission ... And taken admission in a rajasthan state govt. Engineering college for btech... And after 4 year I got nothing ... And currently working govt. Clerk very low grade job... And now I am regretting for my that decision .
There is no need to be disheartened. Don’t think about why you didnt graduate from IISER, rather think about where can you go from here on. You can still explore options for higher studies like doing a Masters and then going the PhD route if thats what you are interested in. Or study for other government exams. Whats done is done, never let that ruin your present and your future. Wishing you all the very best for future :)

Thanks for watching. I dont want to sound too biased, but all first 5 IISERs (KOL, PUNE, MOHALI, TVM, BHOPAL) are pretty good for biological sciences. Since we did our undergrad from Mohali, we know that the DBS at Mohali is really solid and does outstanding work. Having said that, I believe a lot of younger generation faculty getting recruited in the newer IISERs are also doing really good and might be worth considering.

Yes. You should be eligible to sit for the aptitude test if you have secured 12th marks above the state cut-off. Please refer to the IISER admission website (www.iiseradmission.in/index.php/pages/eligibility) for more details.
Unfortunately, I do not have enough information to give you a correct answer to your question. The cutoffs for every category is specified on the IISER website, which keeps changing year after year. Please feel free to reach out to any of the IISER admins to know about the earlier IAT cutoffs. Good luck.
Just curious : Why take a job in Intel after a PhD in Chemistry? I know few other people who did the same & working in Intel, Portland. after PhD ( one in chemistry & other in electrical engineering).

Intel is world’s leading semiconductor manufacturing company and as PhD’s you can directly contribute towards cutting edge technologies. Phd is one way of entering such big corporate players in the market, no matter what your expertise is in.

Both the IISERs are really good as they have great faculty. No doubt. Having said that, when it comes to physics, I would give the edge to IISER pune as it has collaborative environment from faculty of nearby institutions like IUCAA, Pune university, NCRA, CSIR, DRDO e.t.c. Regardless of whichever location of IISER you choose, I am sure you will find excellent faculty and research environment. As far as PhD is concerned, the timeline is not definitive. It lies somewhere between 4-6 years on an average, depending on what subject you choose. Hope this helps.
Mam can you please share your journey of becoming an astrophysicist as I'm also planning my career in astrophysics & I want to go through any of iisers or nisers, but there are not many examples of this .. & gets me confused often times, that's why if you could help me out in this situation it would mean the world to me & would be a great guidance that was extremely needed at this point of time 🙏🏼
You bet. There are myriad of options after a PhD in europe, be it biotechnology or otherwise. Just make sure to keep exploring what companies you are interested in right from the beginning so you know what steps to take when you are close to applying. Hope this helps.
When we were there, the faculty of IISER mohali was as good as any other elite science institution in India. And I am pretty sure most of the present faculty are as good.
Every student should get the opportunity to learn all subjects so they can decide on what to choose if they plan to pursue a career in science. IISER offers students with this opportunity which I personally think is a great initiative.
Thanks Vipul. I dont remember exactly but my rank was somewhere between 100-200 (out of ~400 selected). I am not very sure how many students get selected for KVPY these days, but if you are in the top 30-40%, you should feel comfortable. Good luck.
I believe that is true. It was still the case back in our days at IISER. Also if you have a semester gpa of 4 or less, you will have to forfeit your scholarship.
Yes ofcourse. You have higher chance of landing on such govt jobs with a PhD. In fact, if you get a chance to do summer internship in any of these places, your profile for selection improves. Be mindful that the govt organization will hold their independent exams which you will have to clear. Good luck.

No one is sure about how life is going to turn out, and so weren’t we. IISER seemed like a better place to carry out undergrad and so we decided to pursue it. Obviously 12th graders these days have lot more options and path to pursue. It all depends on what you get and how you can make best out of it. Good luck and all the best.

Congratulations. Back in the last decade, everyone who got admission into an IISER got a stipend through one way or the other: INSPIRE (IITJEE or SCB) or KVPY. I am fairly confident that it still applies to the incoming students, unless of course the rules have changed. A good source of confirmation would be the HR or admin at your IISER. Don't hesitate to talk to them about current scholarships. All the best.
Currently, IISERs only offer BS MS degree. I believe IISER bhopal had recently started a BS only program, but please confirm. I am not sure about TIFR, if they offer MS program. It would be worth checking on their website. Good luck

My Daugher is studying in India in grade Xi while i am aborad. although sheis trying for IIT JEE, Does SAT score also work for NRI parents whose children do study in India.
This is very good question, and I don't have a definitive answer. To be frank, this very much depends on your institutions funding/management ways. I remember IISER Mohali started building its campus from 2007 and were able to get something ready by 2011, which is when we moved in. So I would assume it would take nearly 4-5 years before you see some progress. Good luck.

As far as my knowledge goes, yes. But I believe you will also have to clear NET in order to be eligible for a lecturer position. Please refer for the specifics on the individual college websites.

Can people directly do some job after their bs-ms? I just want to cause I have some personal problems and financial issues. I also want to know if I take up PhD after my bs-ms , then the stipend/salary would be enough to make out my own budget? I want to know if I can support myself while I doing my PhD? Like living expenses and tuition fees? I hope you get what I mean. Depends on how long or critical your project is. But for a MS degree, an year is quite sufficient.

As far as my knowledge goes, yes. But I believe you will also have to clear NET in order to be eligible for a lecturer position. Please refer for the specifics on the individual college websites.

Yes this should apply for government colleges as well. While having a masters is a minimum requirement, some may even require a PhD.

I just want to cause I have some personal problems and financial issues.
I also want to know if I take up PhD after my bs-ms , then the stipend/salary would be enough to make out my own budget? I want to know if I can support myself while I doing my PhD? Like living expenses and tuition fees?
