Because of redlining, white flight and urban decay. This area is full of high violent crime. Most the office jobs and wealth are in Johnson county Kansas now where Overland Park is.
@ kcmo south of the river keeps shrinking. There is some growth right there in downtown. But there’s still only 10,000 people living in the central business district. People don’t like the shootings and all the criminal activity going on there.
@ yore referring to the greater downtown area having the highest population percentage Increase in the KC area because basically no one used to live there.
@iknowdeweybrudda6564 Downtown cause I live there consist of RiverMarket, Central business district, Crossroads, and Crown Center. Downtown KCMO is one of the most livable and is growing rapidly despite crime like any other major city. There will be more of a population increase in the central business with the Aladdin hotel to apartments, Four light, Midland apartments and other major developments down the pipeline.
The lack of pedestrians is a bit unsettling but the city looks cleaner and more modern than I imagined
Yeah I agree, Kansas City was nicer than I thought. To be fair though this was filmed on an early winter morning

This is definitely still a small city lol we’re not even as big as St. Louis
