CPM 154 is a powdered metallurgy form of 154cm. The improved consistency of the powder over ingot steel yields better performance with the proper heat treat or so I've read.
Yes steel thickness is a very personal thing. I tend in your direction however, Erik designed this knife for combat, among other things. In combat, anything goes! If u have to do some prying w this blade, its built bombproof. Anyone else have ideas on steel thickness.
I really like the shape of those blades very useful for many tasks . the fact that they are convex makes it even better
