I still miss Woolworths after all these years. It was surprising at just how quickly this once thriving chain went downhill. In the summer of 2008 everything seemed normal and come the autumn the pre-Christmas displays appeared as usual. Yet as we approached Christmas they were in receivership and all the stores closed by early January 2009. Former Woolies stores near where I live:- Hastings is now a sports clothes shop; Bexhill is now n Iceland supermarket and Rye a public library.
Woolworth was a magical place at Christmas, we went end of November to buy the coloured strips of paper to make the Christmas chains and dream about what we wanted for Christmas.

The ABBA Super trooper inspired background music sounds really weird now on a TV commercial.
