Sometimes I feel bad for Sumbul. She has bad habits of hearing someone's conversation secretly and sharing it with Noor Jahan but I think it's her nature and goal, to get appreciation and compliments from her mother in law because she knows all the power of family is held by Noor Jahan. She has influence on everyone including her husband who doesn't love her. So she's oppressing herself and buttering Noor Jahan just to make her happy and to make her life easier.

The thing is Sumbul is an orphan and had always wanted some kind of acceptance FROM ATLEAST ONE PERSON IN HER WHOLE LIFE. She didn't receive any love or care from her orphanage. She doesn't belong to a sane & loving parental/family background, unlike her sister in laws. Even her husband who should be by her side, left and married another. Her sister in laws know better, cause they were raised by sensible people who have been around to teach them what is right and wrong. Who does she have? Sumbul had nobody, and could only seek acceptance from her husband and MIL by lying on their feet, and listening to their commands. It's just that the person whom she chose to support was unfortunately a snake, and thus she had to do dirty work to get some kind of recognition or acceptance in that household.
I mean people can forgive Murad who beat and ended, Noor Banu's father. Yet they can't forgive a woman who did some gossip? ​It just reinforces the idea that society is so forgiving towards men for the most evil and criminal acts, but can't even forgive a woman who did something pathetic like gossip @@sadhana4578
