- Dizzy Gillespie was one of the great trail-blazing artists of jazz -- clearing the way for the sonic innovations of be-bop, Latin, and progressive jazz, and playing his fine, distinctive trumpet alongside some of the music's most enduring talents. Dizzy's Dream Band records a 1981 date at New York's Lincoln Center in which Dizzy performed with an impressive collection of fellow jazz legends and gifted young turks, including Gerry Mulligan, Max Roach, Milt Jackson, Grady Tate, Curtis Fuller, and Jon Faddis.
What a horn section!! 😲
Dizzy was the one of the coolest guys ever to live on this planet.
How ahead of his time was Dizzy ! he has two female Trombonists in the group Melba Liston and Janice Robinson you don’t see that now in 2023

Love listening to Candido seamlessly moving through so many changes in time signature, tempo, and rhythms ... Afro, bolero, swinging tumbao, and more ... so sweet.

was there...about 5th row, in front of Pepper Adams ..i snuck down to an empty seat
merci dizzy, on t'aime pour toujours..........
Check Jon's playing w Thad Jones-Mel Lewis, he was like 19-20 and his phrasing was like a cat that had been playing lead trumpet for 30 years, he's always been one of my fav's, though he plays even better today, I dug his sound better in the '70's.
Awesome and unbelievable!! Thank you so much for uploading this!

i'm sure the dislike was a mistake.
Great musically, but awful sound mix, so typical of US broadcasters. Not credited here, but it was indeed a great band, as "thejfvoice" noted.
