Mike Sillingers record I don't find that embarassing, he didn't get traded because he was that bad because than he wouldn't have played that manny games. But I agree that moving that much must have been a pain for him.
One of the funny things about hockey is how often players get traded. It seems like it happens more in hockey than any other sport (and no, I don't have statistics to back up that intuition)
I have to point out that at 01:51 the photo which is announced as the 1944 New York Rangers shows Red Wing players. But otherwise very good. How about most NHL games or seasons for a player to never taste the playoffs?
The second segment is very weird, because it says that Ken McAuley allowed 16 GA, which would break the previous record and also doesn't match the game breakdown 2 in 1st + 5 in 2nd + 8 in 3rd is 15 (which would also match the first record)...sooooo...what?
You mentioned the 74-75 Caps setting the record for worst ever season and Greg Joly setting a record for worst plus/minus in a single game. So it is a little surprising you never mentioned that in that same year Caps defenseman Bill Mikkelson set an all time record for worst plus/minus in a season with a an all time low of a -82. Now, a lot of that had to do with playing on a team that gave up well over 200 goals more than they scored. But considering that there's been some historically awful teams since then, it's surprising that no one has come close to that record since it was set 48 years ago..
On the one hand, plus-minus is really a team stat, not individual. On the other hand, any player who's given a plus or a minus is one of only five guys on the ice, so he owns at least 20% of that team stat. What makes plus-minus valuable is that it kinda sorta confirms what we suspected about a given player. The players who we know are good will have a high plus-minus, and the players we never think about have low (or negative) plus-minus.
Here is a record ( I think) Scored a goal while not on the ice. Risto Siltanen flipped the puck into the air and G.T. lost it in the lights. GOAL. Risto was on the bench having completed the line change
The 1944 NY Rangers are an embarrassment? Try any Ranger team since they were first established. The whole organization is an embarrassment…… and this is a non-biased opinion…… LET’S GO DEVILS!!! 😈
I don't know what the reasons were for Sillinger go be on that many teams, but looking at his points and games played, I'm not sure you can say it is embarrassing. Those games played and points are respectable honestly. Adding to that the fact that he was captain and assist captain on some occations would also suggest that he wasn't a bad player or teammember.
Soetaert. He led in 15 goals in one game. Believe in was January 1962, Don Simmons of the Leafs allowed 11 goals in 11- 0 lose at home to the last place Bruins. Leafs played in Chicago the following night, Simmons in net, Leafs win 2-0. Leafs won the Cup three months later. That Washington team was absolutely horrid. Expansion team and also decimated by WHA signings. Tom Williams was the captain of the Caps during this tenure. After losing nine days, the Caps won. Williams went to his locker, and brought out tin foil miniature Stanley Cup. One time after another long streak, he gave a "motivation" statement to this teammates. "Boys, we are good team, we're just in the wrong league."
Here’s another one: Guy Charron, who played for the Habs, Red Wings, Scouts, and the Caps. He played in 734 regular season NHL games, without ever appearing in a single playoff game. An embarrassing NHL record.
That's NOT embarrassing, that's simply very unlucky - I am pretty sure he did not chose to lose all possible games to deny himself post-season. I am pretty sure his teams helped with that too.
J J Daigneault set the record with 10 NHL teams, Vancouver, Philly, Montreal, St Louis, Pittsburgh, Anahiem, Islanders, Nashville, Phoenix, Minnesota (only 1 game). The record was tied in 2018 - 2019 when Lee Stempniak played 2 games for the Bruins making it his 10th NHL team
The goaltender for the Quebec Bulldogs got scored on 16 times against the Habs in 1920, which is the record for most goals in a game by one team. Those 1944 New York Rangers played in Detroit one game and got lit up 15 to 0. Managing 9 shots on goal with their own goaltender stopping 43 of 58 that Detroit peppered his crease with. Ten players scored for Detroit, with one hat trick by Sid (forget his last name) in the largest shutout ever in NHL history with it also being the largest margin of victory. Oh yeah, that game was only 2-0 DET after one period, and that hat trick was performed within the last 8 minutes of the contest.
Mike Sillinger's 9x trade episode reminds me of my dumb little sister being transferred to different schools after 1 or 2 years. The difference is simple. Sillinger has an incredible work rate, while my sister couldn't answer a simple Math or Algebra question
The problem with the 1975 Washington Capitals was the whole team. Especially at that time in the n.h.l., first year expansion teams then were beyond awful and took AT LEAST 3 seasons to become competitive, usually more. Calling Greg Joly the next Bobby Orr , playing for a first year expansion team was highly shortsighted on management’s part.
When the Devils scored their third own goal, it sure looks like the puck was hit with a high stick (i.e. well above the goal crossbar. Shouldn't that play have been whistled dead right there?
No, because nobody else touched the puck afterwards. Play is only blown dead if the offending team touches the puck after the high stick. If the opposing team touches it, play continues. You can't score a high stick goal on your opponent, but you can on your own team hahaha
Funny how Marty Brodeur had an "iconic" own goal in the 2003 Stanley Cup finals.. AGAINST THE DUCKS! What's up with New Jersey own goals against Anaheim? lol
The Red Wings goalie only had to make 9 saves for his first shutout, as his team won 15-0? He could have had a zero percent save percentage, and his team still would have won! It's been said that no one player can make an entire team bad, unless it's the goalie. Here, even the goalie wouldn't have been able to.
Well there is mixed signals here since both goalies gave up 15 goals, but the 2nd record was the score, not the # of goals given up. However he did incorrectly say the Rangers gave up 16 goals, when it was 15. 15-0 is still the worst loss in NHL history as Minnesota lost 15-2.
"relax and be happy, knowing he's a solid contributor to his team".... with a plus/minus of -56 over 2 seasons. lol I may need to watch that segment again, though, as I'm not clear on how he played for 12 teams but only got traded 9 times.

So wait what’s the record for most goals allowed? You said the first goalie gave up 15 and that was the record but then you stated the Rangers goalie gave up 16 goals back 1944. So which is the record? And I think your math was off in that Red Wings/Rangers game. You said Detroit scored 2 in the 1st, 5 in the 2nd and then 8 more in the 3rd. That’s only 15 goals. Make this make sense
Isn't your first record actually less than following one? I mean, 15 goals allowed is still less than 16 goals allowed, right? P.S.: Jágr played on 9 teams... ending as second greatest of all time. So, that's not that bad.

If I’m the goalie i definitely feel hung out to dry by my team, but maybe if the coach comes over and is like “hey man I know it’s not all on you but I’m thinking of pulling you” the goalie himself is gonna answer.
