I think you hit the nail on the head with the reference to holdovers from Christianity and patriarchy. I used to approach deity with a very supplicant attitude; almost self-deprecating and self-effacing in my reverence. During that time period, my spirituality was not healthy, and I found myself being fearful and obsessive. It was exactly what had happened before I left Christianity; everything related to my spirituality became heavy, serious, frightening, and perfectionistic. Taking a more relaxed approach can be really key for your mental health if you have religious trauma
Thank you for sharing your personal experience! I'm in complete alignment with your views and it's helpful to know that the way I relate to my guides and deities is not "wrong". I had a profound and extremely personal experience when the Horned God/Witch Father came to me, with Lilith, The Morrigan and my familiar spirit... I'm grateful for the personal relationships I have built with them and others on my journey. They do feel like "friends" to me and I treat them with the love and respect I do for any of the friendships I have in my life. 💜
I was born Hindu and no longer identify as Hindu, but it did show me the range of 'modes of devotion' (bhakthi) that are possible: that you can relate to a deity as your friend, your lover, your child, etc. because devotion is love.
Coming from a Christian background, I struggle with the words deity and god/dess and have had a really hard time connecting with deity as a result. The word guide seems more accessible, more of a "coming alongside" versus the former that gives me hierarchical vibes. That aside, how do you know what guide you're meant to work with at any given time? This feels like a silly question, but even if I feel an guiding energy in my life, I have yet to know how to identify it or put a name to it, and that feels really impersonal and kind of disrespectful. 🤷
Through the deities I follow, communication is always with me and them and the cleansing they help me with in getting rid of psychic vampiric energies that can latch on to me after readings. Love your videos and hearing the thoughts you have.

Hello Raecine, I feel the same as You about te relationship with my deities. Thanks for this video, it is so inspiring. ❤
Thank you Raecine, I've recently begun a more in depth relationship with Lilith and have been trying to find ways of making those connections.
