I am right now earning my Bachelor's of Science, Mathematics in Education at WGU and I also want to be apart of the 21 century learning, will the program be available annually? I love your content!!! Your making the change in the world of education, thank you
Hi there, we'll likely open to new cohorts in the future, but aren't sure when just yet. If you stay on our waitlist, you'll be the first to know about updates in the future. 🙂
I've been working on implementing some of these ideas and changing some of the ways I teach. It's still a work in progress. My biggest hurdles so far is time and energy! It takes a lot to provide multiple ways for students to show learning. The other is just plain old getting kids to engage and finish what they started. It can be a grind.
Love that you wrote 'its still a work in progress.' It will always be. A lot of folks can feel overwhelmed by it all but it's all about taking one small step at a time. And yes, it can take a lot of time to set up lessons like this; and you likely won't be able to do this for every lesson the first time you're implementing some of these ideas. Doing it year after year though allows you to continue to build on the work you did last year. Maybe you do this every few lessons or units this year and then continue to build on it next year.
I think this is a great strategy for student learning. My only question is what are some strategies to ensure students are prepared for the testing format of standardized tests?
Often when students get to participate in learning that goes beyond choosing the correct multiple choice answer, they do perform better when they DO have to take part in standardized tests. While there's room for some test taking strategies to be learned, it should not take up much of class time. We want to prepare students for the types of problems they'll be facing in the world and those problems will almost never be solvable via multiple choice answers.
Love it! Got an ass son in the grading system. He loves canva for repotrs, makes his own quizlets for drill exercise, he builds make your own adventure google forms for humanic topics like history. Dale's higher order activities. In class he gets reproduction tests without cues. Frustrating to be an edtechcoach for 700 but not being able to help where it matters most.
My principal is intrigued by the 21st Century Teacher approach after I showed him the flier and explained how I was planning to give students more choice and autonomy in their learning of English Language Arts.
@@NewEdTechClassroom I talked with our district tech and he loves the idea of an interactive multimedia approach. He is willing to help me articulate possibilities to increase capacity.
