I think the hardest part about taking Christmas down, is the massive job of making the jigsaw puzzle work of where everything fits back in the bins/bags/boxes they all came out of to begin with. And I agree, it does leave a giant "void", but I look at it as a time to do a little "corner" cleaning and move furniture around and start the new year off with a new look. Happy New Year!

I agree, never before January 6th. Grew up that way and continue the tradition. Especially this year, I am still waiting for gifts to arrive via the Post Office. May have my Christmas decorations up until February waiting for these gifts. 😉

It's a real pain picking up after Christmas,but isn't it nice when you get your house back in some order.I love the way everywhere feels clean and tidy when it's all done.Happy new Year to all the family.
I got all Christmas down the day after Christmas but my tree. And here it is New Year’s Day and I still dread taking it down lol. Allll the little pieces.

I always think I will miss the Christmas decor but I got it all down, packed up and taken to storage a couple of days ago. I like to start the New Year with a clean, tidy, home that feels calm. Today I am cleaning out both refrigerators and going make a huge Costco haul and start the year off in a way I can relax, stay home, and just enjoy the weeks ahead.

My Christmas is usually packed away a few days after Christmas because i like to get it done when i have the time. My least favorite part of packing away Christmas is pulling out all the storage boxes and putting them away lol! I also have a China cabinet that I switch out per season and I hate packing the dishes away since it’s a job I have to do so carefully, and I don’t have time for carefully lol! Since my kids are grown I've been decluttering on Christmas and other things in the house. Glad to have my house back too

Last year we made the tree into a valentines tree for awhile with rose colored lights and hearts, the cheer of the warm glow helps a lot up north during the cold and dark winters. Ornaments are not my fave to pack up though lol.
Happy New Year 2021! It is so bittersweet, taking it all down and packing the Christmas things away until next time. That's the worst for me but the clean slate is nice. Hope your family has the best year!

I love Christmas so I never look forward to taking it down. My tree stays up until the second weekend of January. This year I’m thinking about leaving it up and decorating for all the holidays.

I am with you Kimmy, I always take my stuff down before the new year. It is bad luck to keep it up past New Year's Day. My mom used to say that was because of the danger of fire to the dead trees. Mine is artificial, but I still take it down before the new year begins. Time for a fresh start.

Usually the tree I dread the most..but it feels soo good when it’s taken down usually not long after Christmas because by that time I’m sick of looking at it lol
It always feels good once the home is back in order. I feel like after Christmas the “magic”/cozy feeling of the season is gone, so I don’t want to keep seeing my decor as a reminder it’s over lol.

Its dec 31 now I have everything put away from under the tree I will probably take down some stuff tomorrow on new years, its also my birthday tomorrow!! I always take Christmas down on Jan 6 the 12th day of Christmas on the Epiphany, everyone’s always in a hurry to end Christmas I love it all,
I'm usually the same as you,but this this year I had been in contact with my daughter who had the Virus and I had to isolate for two weeks over Christmas and new year on my own.It didn't feel like Christmas at all and so I was quite glad to take everything down this year.I will make up for it next Christmas,God willing.Happy new year to you.

I am downsizing..I use each holiday to donate what I do not use or want. Always have box open ready to put items in for donating. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! The tree is worse...watching you. Thinking of new storage container....minimizing each year.

Not yet will be a few days yet have to pick up some new bins and go though stuff like you were doing want to get a couple of very large bins on wheels and try to get everything in one except lights and ornaments so I will be down to three bins. The other bin is to put together in one all the other decorations for the other holidays. The gingerbread houses were so cute. We did one with our Great-Granddaughter and I thought her Mom would want to take it home but no it went right in the trash like you there was pictures for the memory. I also bought a few things that will winter over and so they won't be put away tell Spring, like my mantel cloth runner and a few other's like my throw pillows and blankets just pretty enough to make the room look a little festive but not over done. Going to see if my Grandson girlfriend will make me a blue and while wreath for the door so it looks like snow and maybe do some snow flakes on the windows just a little something so it doesn't look so dull after all the pretty stuff we had up. I think what I fear is when I take everything down it never seems to be the same amount of containers that I put everything up with, It always feels like I need more containers after I take everything down. Strange

The tree, tedious. Normally our decorations go up day after Thanksgiving and come down Dec. 26. Just the 2 of us now. Downsized the tree last year. Tried to go to a tabletop tree, but hubby wouldn’t let me get away with that 😆 didn’t put up our regular tree this year. Decorated something we have out all year. Went over well, even with the hubby. Even if we put up our regular tree next year, I think I’ll decorate the all year one as well. Thanks for always keeping everything so real. Hi Kimmie and friends! I asked my 11 year old son 2 days ago how much longer he'd like the tree and decor to be up. He said, "2 more weeks, AT LEAST!"

I don't mind taking it down, I have a one bin rule, all my Xmas fits in one bin, and one box for the tree. It's the medium sized bin like the red one under the cutting boards along the wall.
You do an amazing job, but for me its simplify!!! I still decorate, but its much less. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🥳

I actually hate putting the tree away. I love the lights. This year we are living at our in-laws so I have a small tree Tim going to leave up for winter and decorate for a few holidays. Have a wonderful blessed New Years!❤️

The tree! I have minimalised Christmas decorations as much as I can..but my tree is always over the top haha. LOVE decorating it...dislike taking it down.
I have bins for each of my kids for their ornaments and decor. In each ornament wrapper there is a note with the year it was gifted and reasons why they were given to them. Makes clean up easier.
Always amazed I can watch you undecorated a whole house in 15 minutes and it takes me days!!. Happy New Year. 2021 has to be better! Lost both parents within 5 months and my mom just died day after Christmas from cancer at 86. Sad week.

I usually buy a real tree but bought my first fake tree this year, that was a huge pain to take down lol. Aside from that taking lights off the tree is my least favorite task, the lights always get tangled or stuck in my hair haha. I usually leave mine up till mid January but I got the urge to take it down a few days ago and told myself it was too early. Well, it all came down yesterday. Happy New Years Kimmy and family! I can’t think of anything I don’t like taking down and putting away. This year, I’m sharing some ornaments because I have too many. My niece collects snowmen, one sister collects angels and the other Christmas trees so I’m letting go of those ornaments this year. I have enough to decorate 3 trees 😂. Wishing you a blessed 2021!
I took my Christmas decorations down the day after Christmas. I Don’t like taking the tree down because of all the ornaments. I’m not good at packing up my ornaments either. I say every year I’m going to pack them neatly. No it doesn’t happen! Lol

For me its the tedious wrapping of individual glass tree decorations that are very old given to me by an old friend who has since passed away so they are irreplaceable but it puts more pressure on to take time & not break any, I make it a 2 day event

Agree. Gingerbread house are sad to toss. Ours looked pretty sad by now. Every time kids pass by they rip off a gumdrop, candy cane , etc. but till sad. Lol

I put up nine trees this year in different sizes. I still have four small trees up. They just have berries, pinecones, and snowflakes on them. I will take the two down off the porch this weekend otherwise I will leave the other two up all winter.

Putting up and taking down the tree is by far my least favorite thing to do! Next is any lights I may have to deal with! I give you credit for doing all you do for the holidays but I am old and usually spend Christmas out of town because most of my family are scattered so I put a wreath on my door and that’s it. It sounds bad but I love it.
My decorations aren't geared for Christmas but instead, for winter. Snowmen....I keep up until end if January and Angels which stay out in various locations all year. I don't mess with a tree since we have 4 kitties🥳💕
We lay down a dollar store tablecloth (outside or garage) and the kids get to go "Godzilla" on the gingerbread houses! As they gotten older they video it too to share w/ friends. Fun times!

In Ireland we traditionally leave the decorations up until the feast of the epiphany on the 6th January ie the twelfth day of Christmas . It's also known as little Christmas. Nollaig na mBan in Irish.

I’m normally one who takes the decorations and tree down on the 26th. But this year I’ve been so exhausted it’s still up but it’s coming down TODAY. I grew up in a home that said the tree had to be down before the new year no matter what so that’s what I do. So glad to get a fresh start in the house as well.
I always pack up Dec 28th because it takes me at least 2 days to do my final deep clean,declutter and blessing my house for the year
We do an annual gingerbread house target practice with the BB Gun and 22 cal. With the pumpkins, we have some sword slicing fun!

I never got my tree up. I did put up a nice hot cocoa bar and a few other decorative items on my dining room table and around the living room. I went thru all my decorations and cleaned them up. I also discovered I don't need any more snowmen. LOL
I've got the material to make my new table topper for January.

Same here Margaret. Our kids always sit and look at where the tree has been for a day or two when we take it down too. Pure joy pours from the colours, memories and twinkling lights on the tree. 🤗
I hate carrying the bins back and forth from in the house to our outside storage building. I dont mind taking it down and packing... Just moving the bins. Happy New Year!

I think taking down Christmas is so sad!!! I admit I leave mine up longer than some...but beginning with the Fall decor and on through Christmas is what I live my year for! I do put out snowmen and winter when I take Christmas down but after that, the house is so bare! I can’t get into the spring and summer stuff...I’m a fall and winter gal.
30 years ago, usually just the living room, main hallway and front door were decorated, there were hanging decorations and balloons in the corners of the ceiling, the tree was decorated but not over decorated. Everything was taken down after New Years celebrations were over. These days, people start putting trees in every room, even decorating every room with lights and trees, and thus takes so much time to take it all down afterwards. I think the earlier days had it right and was easier to put up and take down.
Always put our tree up Christmas Eve and it stayed up until after January 6th we always celebrated little Christmas on January 6th and recieved small gifts from Kriss Kringle. All the friends in our village came to visit over the holidays and us kids would show them everything we received. They would always have tea and some homemade bread or cookies that my mom had made. Oh such fun !

I do the same. Everything on the table. Go through what I didn’t use and donate. As I repack, I think of how I will decorate next year with what I didn’t donate or use this year. Down by New Year’s Day.
