How to Make a Permanent Bowdrill Spindle

  • This is an easy way to make a permanent bowdrill spindle from a deer leg bone. This makes it unnecessary to find a perfectly straight spindle because all you need is an inch long piece of your favorite bowdrill wood to use as a plug.

    Just finished up my second. These things work extremely well. The only difference is that I ground the four sides flat. It works even better.

    I have seen many of your videos and I find them quite good, so please don't take this as a personal attack. What's the point of going to all that trouble? You used a modern knife and a multitool to build it. Isn´t it easier to carry half a dozen lighters?

      it is easier to carry extra bics and i do but if i lose my pack i dont need the lighters and i dont NEED a knife or a saw to make this either..it just saves time..also this is fun,,,mastering skills is fun
