First of all, FS is not a heresy; if sinners can receive a blessing, why not gay couples? Second, the response from African Bishops is not as unanimous as you make it seem. @sever, I’ve spoken to three priests & they say that they will bless an individual, but not a “couple” & certainly not in front of the altar. They say that nothing has changed & they cannot bless intrinsic evil. BTW, none are impressed with Francis’s leadership nor the removal of Bishop Strickland. All 3 have know him for years.
Oh Priest routinely marry divorced people: this is no big deal blessing same-sex couples. That too has been common in quite a few parishes for a while.
@@russellmiles2861 Does your priest marry them on your altar and as if they were not divorced? Lot’s of questions here: Were they both married in the Catholic Church to their former spouses beforehand? If so, did they both receive an annulment from their Bishop? If they were married outside of the Catholic Church, then the Church neither recognizes their marriage nor their divorce because both are civil documents & the Church doesn’t recognize them. So if they are both Catholic, I ‘think’ that they can be married in the Church. Please elaborate.
My pastor has given me a blessing. He blessed my son when he received sacraments. He blessed my pooch on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. He willingly blessed us all, but if I wanted him to bless a marriage type union for me with one of thoes 2, I would imagine he would not bless any of us as a "couple" ( nor should he). Family can be any individuals who care for eachother, but MARRIAGE is a husband & a wife.
According to Mother Angelica, if you are gay you called to a life of celibacy and not to commit sin by engaging in homosexual relationship. Live a celibate life.
is not about listening, the document is very clear, it states : blessing of same sex couples and couples in irregular situation. I recommend you read, read and read again, until you understand it.@@sabakpojohnson4751
in which part of the Bible is written than couples of same sex are to be blessed? and if they are, are they going to repent and stop being homosexual? because as you can see on father Martin´s blessing of a gay couple, they really don't want to stop sodomizing each other.@@sabakpojohnson4751
I have listened to many faithful priests and other strong faithful who have also read the documents and explain differently than this priest. Obviously the documents are not straight forward. As usual, Pope Francis makes everything very complicated, it seems to cause confusion and division. Why have so many bishops and cardinals refused to accept this document? Not because of click bait. They read the document as well.
This sermon gave me hope. However, there are bishops and priests in a certain diocese (perhaps a few?) in Germany who are still performing liturgical blessings of gay unions and others. And Fr James Martin, SJ, in the U.S., took it as a signal that he can now *plan* to bless gay couples. He said this on Twitter. And a priest in Italy put statues of two women as Jesus’ mother in their crèche for Christmas in response to things the pope has said. That priest said just that. And lastly, this document is in contradiction to a previous one from 2021 (I believe that is the correct year tho I can’t recall its name) according to an article by another priest I read a few days ago. It’s all very vexing…all we can do is pray…
Do you all know that on pope Francis's birthday Dec 17 2023 a statue of St Peter in Argentina was struck by lightning and ONLY the HALO and the KEYS got DESTROYED!!!......... don't know about you but that, in and of itself, says EVERYTHING to me !!!

He didnt nail it, he did not explain why they used the word couple., and it does not use the word repent. The two examples that he used were of couples in repentance, and the document does not say that. Of FS had spoken about a person in repentance there would be absolutely no issue
@reasonandtheology, I mean no disrespect, but if repentance isn't a big enough issue for this priest to engage in front of his faithful, then NOTHING is.
God bless this priest for taking the time to research and explain, as well as boldly point out the motivators of sensationalism and deception. This is a good shepherd. God bless.
Fantastic sermon, he really covered all the points I’ve been thinking about. This event is really displaying who truly has faith in the Catholic church.
@@stephenjohnson9632no. that is a dishonest reading of the document. The coupleship is exactly what is being referred to when the word union is used. The document upholds traditional catholic teaching on sin and sexuality. The document clearly says the sin can't be blessed. Use basic logic. Did you even listen to the sermon?
@@ludwigvonmises1 Having Faith in our Lord Jesus means having faith in the Church He founded, the Church He said He will guide forever, the Church He said the gates of hell would never prevail against.
@@stephenjohnson9632 The lies and slander are coming from those who despise the Catholic Church, those who have hatred of the pope in their hardened hearts. We don't worship the Catholic Church, no we just trust and have faith in the words of Jesus Himself, as he said that he will always guide his church and that the gates of Hell will never prevail against it. You insert your false subjective opinion and make claims about the document that are simply untrue. The irregular couple may be in a relationship when they approach the priest for a blessing, but the priest is completely blocked from giving a blessing to the coupleship from this document, it is extremely clear. This blessing is a gift from God that can help the couple turn away from sin. The document affirms the traditional teaching of the church on sin. I know that Satan is the father of lies, so I know that fake news media who are spreading lies about the document to grift to their pope hating audience are doing Satan's work.
Thank you, Fr The Church is on course to its greatest purification ever, self-cleansing this time. It will be a much smaller but more resilient and faithful Church. As a Catholic Priest-Chaplain, itt took me some teaching to convince even faithful Catholics about the authenticity of the Church’s teaching in that 'Fiducia' Document. We will surely get to that point where it would be clear to dissidents that the promise of our Lord Jesus Christ to be with the Church at all times is not a hollow promise but the ONLY reason the Church has lasted over 2000 years and still faithful and resilient in following the Master.
It is a balm to my soul to here this priest not only call out the wolves but defend the Magisterium with such clarity and practicality. I love that he turns the hermeneutic of suspicion back on the men of bad will!
23:35 I am so grateful that he gave the unmarried heterosexual and homosexual examples. So many dissenters are acting like "Only married couples may be blessed" or they fall for the secular lie that "All homosexual couples must be seeking validation of sexual union", and they have no pastoral heart in understanding other extreme or irregular situations where people are asking for God's grace to live in conformity with his will. Thank you Father for this message, and thanks Michael for posting.
I have not heard the over simplication that people who have an issue here think that ONLY those who want their relationship validated. But to ignore that arguably a majority of them will be looking for validation is naive.
@katehaven9374 And Fiducia Supplicans goes out of its way to clarify that we cannot validate their sexual union, regardless of what they're looking for. In that sense, I don't think the document is naive at all. I think it knows what the secular world wants from the church (validation of homosexual activity and homosexual marriage), and the Church definitively did not give it to them. And comment boxes are loaded with "If their not looking for validation, then why present themselves as a couple? Any relationship should be completely ended". This "oversimplification" as you call it is what I'm describing. That, by the very fact you haven't ended any and all relationship and are presenting as a couple, you are inherently seeking validation of sexual activity. This isn't true for what we're fine calling unmarried heterosexual couples (engaged or divorced-and-remarried), and likewise for a homosexual "couple" who is seeking guidance in knowing how to navigate a disordered romantic or sexual entanglement and have expressed an openness to grace that they live by the Church's teachings.
@davidc4764 You misrepresented both things I said. I never said Catholics were opposed to people seeking God's grace. I said people were opposed to blessing COUPLES, for the reasons I've mentioned ("If 2 men present themselves as a couple, they can't be blessed and should be told to end any relationship they do have") Comment boxes and Rad trad commentaries are filled with these kinds of statements. Similarly, this line of reasoning also lends itself towards them thinking that "If they're presenting as a couple, couples are unions, so they must be seeking validation for sexual union." I'm not naive and saying this won't happen, or that even most coming forward as couples would be like this. My issue is with people saying ALL homosexual couples are like this (if they're presenting as a couple, they must be seeking validation of sexual union). And I'm pointing out that this is naive and painting with too broad a brush. It excludes difficult and pastoral situations where a couple who displays an openness in regards to the Church's teaching on marriage and homosexuality could receive a blessing. I'm sure most are fine with blessing engaged heterosexual couples or divorced and remarried couples with the understanding we're not validating sexual union. So why can't they see that for same sex couples as well?
Indeed dear Mother, pray for us. I think even Mary has told us in one of her apparitions (sorry can't remember which one) that we shouldn't watch the news in these times because it is filled with lies and misrepresentation which only causes confusion. We are living in the tribulation where the church experiences calvary, but we can live in hope because the gates of hell will not prevail.
Christ is your Mediator, not Mary. Does not the scripture say, "For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the witness for this proper time." 1 Timothy 2:5-6 (LSB) See also the book of Hebrews, it makes clear the role of Christ our High Priest.
Amen! God bless Pope Francis. May God continue to preserve him in the truth and grant him wisdom to navigate these contentious and opinionated times, and the wisdom to realize the hope of his pastoral heart, the full unity of the Church and the invitation to ALL to come into the life of the Church and be conformed to Christ (which most certainly starts with repentance from sin, or at least the desire to turn from sin).
Congratulations. I absolutely enjoyed all you said. I’m a fervent follower of our church and believe in the guidance of our Pope. I did not understand the document until you explained it, but I had faith it was correct. Thank you, I will share this.
Thank you Michael for sharing this sermon. The best long sermon shared on a simple Declaration. Faith is about Trust and as Catholics we should trust Sacred Scripture, Apostolic Tradition and Magisterium and distrust other sources attacking the Church
Thank you Rev. Fr. for explaining this thing this way, comprehensive and touching all bases! God bless you! Please always be a good and holy priest, for the flock of Jesus Christ! This kind of thinking and message is what is guided by the Holy Spirit! May the Lord God be praised!
The message of the Church is that Sexually diverted people have to be respected eg people who are mad we bless them And a blessing has nothing to do with sacrament of homosexual as homosexuals have no biblical marriage.
By blessing a "couple" in any form of irregular union you are in effect blessing the union and giving the impression that the union is acceptable to the church. Fiducia Supplicans allows the blessing of couples in such unions. It is one thing to bless the individuals separately another thing to bless the couple. If you bless the couple you are blessing the union. The difference is blessing the sinner(s) versus blessing the sin. To bless an irregular couple is to bless the sin, to bless the individuals is to bless the sinners.
@andreathemisses1422 Fiducia Supplicans uses the word "couples" several times. Have you read the actual document? There are some very positive points which support the traditions of the church but also several points which are confusing and dubious in their intent.
Two people in a ss-relationship having gay sex don't need a blessing. They need to go to confession to have their sins forgiven to save their eternal souls. There is nothing more to be said.
Father, thank you for your explanation. I was so afraid Pope Francis was going off the wrong end. I will remember what you said. Trust in the church and Jesus
I love Fr. Eric's list of the things 'We would have appreciated seeing in this document' -- and they are all there in the Declaration!! Thank you, Michael!
Thank you for this post. My own family called me and stated what they heard on the news in headline. I got the document and read it. I agree with you wholeheartedly! I was able to show the lies of the media, crisis averted!
JMJ. Gal. 1:9 As we have said before, so now I say again, If any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be accursed.
If I were ever to tattoo anything on my body, it would be what he said in the 5:23 mark: "Start with trust of the Church and distrust of media outlet."
Well then, for the sake of clarity and not to be lured into media "clickbait", is it not the responsibility of the Catholic Church to put out a formal statement from the highest office in the Vatican, what Pope Francis actually meant when he uttered thise words? it is ridiculous to assume that anyone Catholic or orher, would ignore news being reported when Papal statements (even if taken out of context) are being made about such a controversial issue as this.
This was the most fitting title to the video, people were quick to judge the document because they lack trust and forgot God's promise to be with us always, that the gates of hell shall not prevail. This was the only thing I held unto amidst all the headlines and waited until they explain further and clarify. Because I always knew, even if I am the only Catholic left in the world, I always trust the magisterium.

Beautiful. FS has been an eye-opener I was being misled for long ago, but I always knew it made no logical sense. Thanks to this I finally realised all the lies, that may come on purpose or from ignorance. This channel was a huge factor and I appreciate the accurate coverage.
This priest did a great job explaining the document coming out of the Vatican, I myself am satisfied with his explanation! I know most of the media is controlled by evil, so the confusion is on purpose. The pastor at my church several Sundays ago did acknowledge the gay unions and we should accept it because God loves all his children!
I am sure this addition of Blessing of homosexuals will cause a división where we will see who is the Faithful and those that are Falling away. True Catholics know The Messages of Fatima and know what to expect in these times drawing close to the endtimes.
The media is so evil, the devil tries and tries but the gates of hell will not prevail thank you Father Eric and most of all to our Lord Jesus Christ for giving us this beautiful gift his Holy Catholic Church with the sacraments, along with his Mother Amen.
Thank you, Michael! That was a marvelous sermon! As a new convert, I'm learning more every day about the authority and history of the Magisterium (quite a bit from you!). Fr. Gilbaugh nailed the Church's motives in issuing this document: To avoid formal schism, and very importantly, to save more sinners. I saw where some thought it was a scandal for Pope Francis to have lunch with some transgendered people. Fr. Gilbaugh mentioned that Jesus spent time with prostitutes, and no doubt some of them were transgendered (since transgenderism is a very ancient illness...there is nothing new under the sun).
Blessing Examples are very helpful. Critical thinking falls short when reading ENTIRE document rarely happens. TRUST in the Church and Majesterium is indeed being tested.
This homily was brilliant absolutely brilliant. How refreshing. This wonderful priest dissected and explained it so meticulously. God bless him. Thank you so much for posting this, it was enlightening. So much confusion with this document. What a wonderful, patient and caring priest. God bless him abundantly 🙏🙏🙏💗
All this document had to say was that individuals in what ever state may be blessed, but sinful couplings may not be blessed. They didn't need 5000+ words to express such a directive. It's just introducing confusion by being verbose it allows those with ill will to use it to their advantage and further their own agendas.
We pray for our Holy and Apostolic Catholic Church. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide us and lead us towards Jesus as pray for the intercession of Mama Mary and St Joseph being the protector of the family.🙏🔥🙏
Beautifully worded Father. You spoke on a difficult subject with a great explanation and anyone can understand. Wish all could find this on the "media" and listen. Thank you, Father! May God continue to bless you in your ministry. Happy New Year!
Thank you for this homily! We need this type of clarity and unity in the Church! May this spark ignite a fire that moves us to discern appropriately and promote unity. May the fire consume the division, disobedience and disrespect for authority that have permeated our Church. May our laity gather in unity around our priests who are gathered in unity around our bishops who are gathered in unity around our holy father. Jesus prayed for us to be ONE.
What I wish he hit on more was the fact the document said homosexual couples, which in the cholic church does not exist because it is not recognized as a legitimate term yet it was said homosexual couples
I pray this priest recognizes and finally admits to himself and his parishioners the truth that the Pope knew full well what disturbance this document would cause and in fact was an intentional act pursuant to a secular goal of acceptance of homosexuality. To try and minimize it and make excuses as if the media has made it up. This was a pathetic speech. Shame on you father. This is absolutely a diabolical decree. It is clearly against 2,000 years of church teaching. It speaks volumes this priest was not prepared to address this evil decree and now attempts to make excuses for its propagation
I find my peace and joy by trusting in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, and grounding myself in God´s Word. We must put our trust in God, not in man. The Holy Spirit guides us into all Truth

The purpose of any talk, speech, or homily is to get the point across. You do not want to lose your audience. Forty minutes was way too long for a sermon. If he wanted to speak for forty minutes, he should have invited people to stay after mass or have given the talk some evening at the parish center. Moreover, he could have made the point in five minutes. However, that would required him to spend more time writing and editing the sermon. My English professor always said that it takes longer to write a short speech than a long speech. Edward Everett spoke for two hours at Gettysburg and Abraham Lincoln spoke for about 2 minutes. Only one of those speeches is remembered.

@sever,
I’ve spoken to three priests & they say that they will bless an individual, but not a “couple” & certainly not in front of the altar.
Lot’s of questions here:
Were they both married in the Catholic Church to their former spouses beforehand?
The best explanation I have heard on this topic 🙏 God bless you Father 🙏
According to Mother Angelica, if you are gay you called to a life of celibacy and not to commit sin by engaging in homosexual relationship. Live a celibate life.
People want teachings on important faith matter clear cut and simple. Keep it simple straight forward and clear 🙏✝️
But most issues are grey so...
If the blessings are only to repenting couples, why was it not mentioned in the document?
You were listening were you
the document clearly states : "blessing of couples of same sex and in irregular situation"
Please listen carefully. Listen and listen again, if you've got the time.
is not about listening, the document is very clear, it states : blessing of same sex couples and couples in irregular situation.
Enough with the listening. Please read it for yourself. @@sabakpojohnson4751
“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Matthew 14:31
You are right, except I believe this sermon brings false hope @@carolmcln5028

Hi pop 😊
Deception comes from Satan, so is this document. God will not be mocked, and those do and propagate the same, will rule in hell forever.
He didnt nail it, he did not explain why they used the word couple., and it does not use the word repent. The two examples that he used were of couples in repentance, and the document does not say that.
Of FS had spoken about a person in repentance there would be absolutely no issue
I have explained and answered these things at length. He can’t engage every objection in one homily.
@reasonandtheology,
I mean no disrespect, but if repentance isn't a big enough issue for this priest to engage in front of his faithful, then NOTHING is.
@@amyakins1284 don’t twist words like Satan does with scripture. You know very well that is not what was meant.
Faith in the Church? You mean faith in Jesus Christ our Lord I think

Thank you, Fr
The Church is on course to its greatest purification ever, self-cleansing this time.
I confess to having been “confused” and upset. Indeed the Holy Spirit has blessed this priest. I thank God for leading me to this video.
Confusion is from the devil
Thanks for this. I also failed to see it this way. It truly pays to be quick to listen.
Thank you! Clear and concise coming from a faithful priest! Thanks be to God! He leaves no room for argument that I can see.
Happy New Year, Michael. Thank you for posting. Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us.
Does not the scripture say, "For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the witness for this proper time."
1 Timothy 2:5-6 (LSB) See also the book of Hebrews, it makes clear the role of Christ our High Priest.
This priest is a good teacher. Good for him!
Thank you father for sharing specially to the shallow catholics who does not know how to defend our catholic faith. To God be the glory…Ave Maria

There was no need for that doctrine he was testing waters. Am happy the children of God are standing up against evil.
Hatred is directly from the evil one.
Thank you Rev. Fr. for explaining this thing this way, comprehensive and touching all bases! God bless you! Please always be a good and holy priest, for the flock of Jesus Christ! This kind of thinking and message is what is guided by the Holy Spirit! May the Lord God be praised!
The message of the Church is that Sexually diverted people have to be respected eg people who are mad we bless them
And a blessing has nothing to do with sacrament of homosexual as homosexuals have no biblical marriage.
It never said “couple”
@andreathemisses1422 Fiducia Supplicans uses the word "couples" several times. Have you read the actual document? There are some very positive points which support the traditions of the church but also several points which are confusing and dubious in their intent.
Two people in a ss-relationship having gay sex don't need a blessing. They need to go to confession to have their sins forgiven to save their eternal souls. There is nothing more to be said.
Father, thank you for your explanation. I was so afraid Pope Francis was going off the wrong end. I will remember what you said. Trust in the church and Jesus

Thank you, Father! And thank you RT for bringing us this sermon.

All this document had to say was that individuals in what ever state may be blessed, but sinful couplings may not be blessed. They didn't need 5000+ words to express such a directive. It's just introducing confusion by being verbose it allows those with ill will to use it to their advantage and further their own agendas.

A classic example of “even the elect will be deceived”
