One of my favorite double turns ever. This story and match is so underrated.
A lot of fans today forget that TNA gave many wrestlers that were deemed either Tag team or cruiserweight their time and glory in the world title picture
Sure did. Really showed how talented they are. But also speaks to the level of talent WWE had at one time.

Yep! First company to give Drew McIntyre the ball as World Champion, which I think was a very important step that got him to the where he is now in WWE, as the top man on Raw.

As a big Matt Hardy fan, I literally cried tears when he finally got to be recognized as the world champion player he deserved after years of putting his body on the line and being mistreated by WWE's abymassal management.
He was ECW champion too. Dont forget.

Yesssss, babyface EC3 was a badass. It eventually became stale but that's only because they never gave him a memorable angle as a face.

I wish they would just upload the full match. This is one of Matt's best matches in his career. He really got to shine as a heel, something he never got to do in WWE.

This era was so much memorable.
People still called it trash tho
This era was not good. This was right after they had that pointless world title series where they spent two months on not developing any storylines in favor of a long ass tournament to build to a predictable final anyway.
@@BBoy4040 I enjoyed a lot of those matches, but yeah, we all knew how it was gonna end. That said, I think the whole reason the Tournament happened was because the company’s future was in doubt at the time, so they just taped a bunch of random matches, because they didn’t know what the future would hold, then once they got stable they just repurposed it all as a World Title Tournament. Can’t remember if this was during or after Billy Corgan.

I wouldn't say Matt stole the championship. He earned it in a no dq last man standing match. He did everything he could to win.
But that's just it, that's what makes it so memorable. Matt is supposed to be the good guy while EC3 is the bad guy, yet it was EC3 that was working really hard within the rules to keep his title while Matt, yes he was doing things within the rule as well but it felt like something a good guy wouldn't do. That's what makes it so memorable because it was a double turn by the end EC3 was the good guy and Matt Hardy was the bad guy

Exactly!!! This was a match with literally no rules. I get that this was supposed to be like Hart V. SCSA at Mania. However, it couldn’t top that. Matt won fair and square. He earned the championship. If it was a regular one-on-one, of course Matt using weapons would be bad. I would’ve done the same thing to win a World Title.

I'm Italian and between 2014 and 2016 Tna was running on "Nuvolari". I never lost a single episode and in that period it was my favourite federation because of the high quality of the product. The roster was amazing, made by excellent icons (hardys, 3D, Kurt Angle) and fresh talents (Ec3, Wolves, Bram)
