You need to consider little jar with a lid. And place reminder notes of where you got it and when you..

The reason for the color difference is different wood. That's Red Oak on the ground. Hence it's slightly red appearance. Burns all night in a wood boiler!

True. But the color will lighten up some when its dry. It does burn longer too.

ON YOUR BIG ROUNDS.. YOU NEED TO HAVE A POLICY CHANGE... Yes and your lifted once and don't let it go lower until you move it to the firewood drawing stack s. I say you need to either your lies your truck. You probably need your rounds rolled from your truck bed to platform the same height as your truck bed then roll them to the log splitter that's right just table inches from your log splitter.. now consider more trips with your truck but feeling only your back tailgate length with these big heavy rounds.. be nice to have a wench. Be nice to have a tractor with a bucket.

That is a very good idea! I never thought of that. Get them off the truck to a platform lined up with the log splitter. Easier work.

Some suggestions to make it easier.....
    1) STOP! Don't go out into the woods anymore this year as long as there is snow on the ground. Not worth the effort.
    2) Next year, stop selling firewood at a safe point, so you will have enough wood for yourself! Plus some extra in the event of extended cold weather.
    3) @ 1:30 Seems like throwing wood onto the ground and having to pick it up again just makes more work for yourself. Isn't there at least one empty trailer or cart you could toss the wood into? That way you wouldn't have to bend over. Hope at least one of these suggestions helps. Hope you stay well!
One final question.... Doesn't burning wet wood risk creosote buildup?

Thanks for the suggestions. I have come to some of the same conclusions as you. But right now we need the money as well so its not an option to quit this year.
Its more work to reach around a trailer than it is to pick up the pieces from the ground. It does not bother me at all really. I think a trailer would get in the way. Right now I split a log and toss it right next to the frame where I will stack it.
Wet wood is not good, yes it builds up creosote unless you burn it hot all the time. That can burn it all off.

YO DO SEE Do you still have a hoist winch on your log mill?? Why is that not multi placeable. You should have a placement on your truck hopefully it's a square where you can just slide your hoist winch in.. WISH I COULD BE THERE TO HELP.

Yes that is an idea. I saw a winch mount for a trailer hitch. I could move this over the truck as needed.

Good to see ya Troy. That wood splitter is great. Years ago, when we had a wood burning fireplace, had no idea about the moisture content in wood. Ha, we were young and ignorant. 👍🙏✌

Thanks. When I started out I also had no idea. Just burnt everything. I learned with time tho. When black syrupy looking water poured out of the stove pipe into my house I stared learning fast. What a mess!!

Spend the snowy time cutting...Get out there. Fell trees on top of snow and buck them up. Let em lay there. When snow melts off. Return to get the pieces. No digging in snow and this step of process will be complete.👍

In some places I do that. It depends on the property owner and how much time I have to work there. My biggest issue right now is finding dry, dead standing oak that I can sell right away. Its getting harder in the snow to get that stuff out of the woods. But bills have to be paid.

@Country Wood Products You need to be focused on cutting inventory for next year right now.IMO
Are you doing firewood as a full-time job and sole income???

    • @countrywoodproducts
      @countrywoodproducts  Рік тому

I am full time now. It turned out to be the best thing I have done in many years. UA-cam was my main income since 2013 but they keep cutting my pay on my main channel. Once the snow melts I plan to work hard all day and put in for next year. But I also want to try out summer campfire wood. You can sell campfire wood for $1 per stick which triples potential income.
