They should add more to Dread than just an invisible NPC that slowly follows you. Perhaps add a special ending if you somehow beat DOORS while Dread is active.

@@A.dude.you.know. The developers can do pretty much anything they want with their game, I'm pretty sure Dread despawning could easily be stopped by simply removing the code that despawns it, followed by adding code for the special ending if Dread is present.
as long as we take into account them removing the despawning thing, yeah! that would be cool! maybe you could get a special badge that you cant normally see in the achievements section, like survival the jeff the killer.

i found dread today and this was my experience : i waited with my friend in the lobby and then the lights of the doors we opened broke. we waited more and the lights of the lobby broke. then we went normally and suddenly my view got tunneled and black and white,then i died
honestly, i'd like to see someone play doors normally while this little fella chases you up until door 100 it's probably not possible though, since if you go through the next door dread will despawn. oh and also cutscenes n stuff.
I think they should add dread to the normal game. I think his design is really cool. Maybe he could be added to one of the next floors. Edit: I mean he should spawn normally instead of just after waiting an hour in room 13.

You have to wait in any room for 10 minutes, you must NOT be afk (best thing to do is to keep walking around). He can also spawn in the mines, just not in the starting room. If you survive it, you’ll get an achievement, you can get another one of you crucify it. Opening the next door immediately despawns it. The best way to know when Dread spawns is not by looking at the clocks, but rather with the alarm clock (found on door 49’s desk and in the library on another desk). The wall and grandfather clocks might be inaccurate, because they don’t detect afk. However, the alarm clock does. When it strikes midnight, Dread will spawn.
I garentee you weren't playing the game for 45 minutes before reaching room 13 buddy you're just trying to seem cooler and you aren't fooling anyone little *_Timothy._*

This will never happen. That is because when you open the door, dread stops attacking and the screen goes back to normal.
