- The 1994 San Marino Grand Prix is about to begin! A solid first two races to the season for myself, but my teammate Andrea de Cesaris has sustained injuries after his crash at Aida! The German of Heinz-Harald Frentzen steps in to the seat, beating out Karl Wendlinger for that car. Peter Sauber now has a chance to evaluate Early and Frentzen's performances over the coming races to determine who gets to keep their seat once de Cesaris returns...

This is for sure one of the best GP2 series out there, keep it up.
Love the absolutely zero padding and needless intro bullshit of these videos. Starting grid, race, standings, done. Great job mate.
Just trying to keep it simple!
🗣️ WE ARE GETTING SACKED WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥
They'll be shipping me off to Pacific by the mid season break.
You’ll get there! Reckon points are just around the corner 🙂
You were exposed to Grand Prix 2’s biggest hidden danger here: running wide on exit can kick the car up onto the grass and break your front wing. They’re lethal.
I like how the grass and gravel are so punishing.
Lethal is an understatement (if that's even possible to understate). That feature makes this circuit one of the toughest!
Imola 94, what could possibly go wrong
When choosing a picture for the thumbnail I purposely went for one that had no indication towards the real events of Imola 94, Motorsport Images(.com) has a lot of pictures of all the accidents.
So Jaguar did a re-brand from your avatar. :D..... this game is epic. Hundreds of hrs I had.
I'm sure I'll be sinking hundreds of hours into it over the next few months!
Great race! When are you thinking of doing more? Binge watched these and loving it! I think it would be fun to see the videos without the cuts too and see it as a full length (not full laps, though that could be fun too, just an uncut race at half distance is what I meant)
I'll aim to have a video out every other day at the least. I was thinking about uploading the full races and sticking them on an unlisted playlist so I'll see if I can get round to that at some point soon. It would just be the starting grid with commentary, the full race with no commentary, and then the race results and standings with commentary.
Could be interesting to see which get the most views. I love these commentary ones but obviously understand it's harder for a full race!😅
"I don't think I have a fanclub."
That's what happens when you delete the Discord.
Social media is a disease.
I am a hypocrite.
Hey man, to help you with the helmet you ned to use the OLD version of MS Paint to edit the skin...
Yes you're right, I recorded these episodes last week so I've fixed that now but thank you.
Try lowering your ride height when you have a fast circuit needing low drag but you also want some grip in cornering. Always lower you ride height anyway until you see the underplank indicator flickering at top speed along the straight. It's all good so long as you don't wear down the underplank too much. You can tell when that happens because it flickers red instead of yellow and it causes your car to slow down in straight line speed. I always found GP2 far more difficult to get a good setup compared to the previous game and even GP3 felt easier.
Do you know how much is too much? It feels like a bit of bottoming out isn't a problem, but I never know if running that in the race, wont wear out the blank too much and chicken out for the race^^
But on most tracks you can take off up to 4 or 5mm of RH from the default without bottoming out (much)
@@cyberfutur5000 I don't recall how much wear is permitted. The only way to know for sure, is running a simulated race length practice session. If you are wearing the plank away too much, then from memory you can add 'bumpers?' or 'dampers?' that are usually only effective while the car is at low ride height down the straight. I used to finish Interlagos, with too much wear, all the time. But, because only the final 3-4 laps of the race were impacted, I just lived with it.
@@Old_Catholic What happens then? Interlagos in the game has some nasty bumps and stuff on some lines. Had some scary situations with bottoming out while I overtook there. And if you take the S/F straight the proper dangerous way you see the real cars do it at the time (or at least in the late 90s), and dip through the pit entry for the apex, you hit some more bumps as well than if you'd take the AI's line.
But it's the only track where I had situations where the car just bottomed out like a sled and threw me in the wall at 320kph.
@ Are you using Keyboard controls? GP2 has a strange glitch when you overtake. The moment when you are right behind the opponent the steering sensitivity goes through the roof and that can cause a spin/lose of control for no good reason. I used to 'pull out of the stream' early because of that and it's not too difficult to out break the AI at the end of the straight.
Thanks for the tips, this season for me is just a huge learning experience! I'm bound to make all the "rookie" errors that new GP2 players make.
Managed to install the game with the x86GP2 patch and it works great! Just one question: I don't see how to change/edit the game resolution. What's the trick?
Keep the series up!
I'm not too sure if you can change the window resolution, but to go into fullscreen just use the keyboard shortcut of ALT+ENTER. That should make the game match your monitor resolution.
Uff... jeez. That was a nasty crash. But it's Imola 94. Nothing good can come out of that, except that Rubens didn't die as well But if the best thing you can say about something is that it at least didn't also kill another guy.. It's just the worst race. (Funnily enough, probably my favourite track in the game and without a doubt the best layout Imola ever had -when you are at home and it can't murder you)
I find this circuit incredibly difficult on this game, I've recorded the first six races and Imola was by far the trickiest track.
@@JamesEarlyRetro Interesting. I've heard some people say that. I just like it, idk. There I play for poles and wins in careers where I usually scrap for points^^ I found Interlagos, wich usually is one of my favs in this game so frustrating, tho. I couldn't get around the last corner of the twisty section, the slow one, without spinning. Took me way to long to learn and I never had a problem there in any other game. Something with the low poly elevation, I guess. And in Braca is a bit I just hate, just like in Aida.
But as long you don't touch the stripy murder stones at the side of the track, Imola works for me. Just NEVER touch he kerbs :D
Very few circuits in gp2 is not 13/1 on wings, of course Imola is not one of those!
Ah okay, I've not tried 13/1 wings yet.
Not yet on 0.4 version of x86GP2? Because we now have brake ducts, and GOODYEAR writings on the tyres.
I think he said it was coming from round 5 onwards
also a tv broadcast like overlay and track map when not in cockpit cam
Yes, from round 5 I have the 0.4 version. I've just been recording races whenever I get the time to, so some of them were recorded a few days ago now.
@@JamesEarlyRetro And now 0.41 is released with a fix of the results page crashing the game.
If only I can play this game properly because when I run the game it feels like its in "slow motion"
Strange, that's what happens if I run games on the Playstation 3 emulator. Sounds like a processing bottleneck.
You need to pick up the pace. Frentzen can't be quicker than the great James Early!
I agree! I'll need to focus on the setup of the car a bit more from now on.
Whenever I scroll through race results, my game always crashes to desktop. Other than that, I have been enjoying it.
Same here, some menu windows are broken. But if you do a season, looking at the points should be safe. If you wanna be really sure, save the game, reload it and you can check the standings and points after loading. But atm the result screen is a trap^^
What I do with the new x86 0.4 update is pause the race as the winner crosses the line and switch to the broadcast camera (Left Arrow Button), and just make a note of all the standings and gaps.
Why is senna out of the race? He did qualify on pole though he never finished it.
Grand Prix 2 doesn't include Senna.
@@JamesEarlyRetrooh ok, I got confused with the image behind the grid showing him.
Pros?
Not last
Improved from starting position
Cons:
Slower than a Simtek in qualy
Early retirement
At least James Early isn't as bad as the 1992 Andrea Moda team, there's that of course
It can only get better from here, at least I'd hope it will!
Your car is way too slow on the straights
Most definitely, I need to work on the setups a bit more.
