You posted a 2 1/2 minute video to go over a very simple problem in excruciating detail, only to say you can’t help at the end. Why did you do that? This video is of no value at all.
Fucking right?!!!! Went through the whole god damn video for him to just say well it’s upside down and that’s fine cause it works.. everyone report the fuck out of the god damn useless video.
I was hoping you had a solution. I have a 13 SEL and randomly works. 90% of the time it's upside down. I can obviously back up without it, however it severely declines value when trading it in. FORD really needs to fix it. I'm not wasting money on a camera when I've read numerous places people replaced it only for the same thing to continue. That's an expensive fix for it not to work. This is my last FORD. Very disappointed in it. Also having issues with driver door ajar warning and some weird torque steering issue and also blend actuator door works only when it wants to... annoying. 2013s are known to have several electrical problems. Too bad I realized it AFTER I bought it.
Not sure if this is the fix you’re looking for but after reading others comments I went to check settings on my 2015 Escape. For about 8 months my back up camera flips between correct view, to upside down view, to just black (the car by the way is black!). Alas, under settings on dash screen, view cameras, and behold….able to reset and seems to be working just fine…for now anyways! If this is helpful for even one person, then my time we’ll spent writing this review!
Just fixed one on an 11 edge today. The new (used) replacement displayed upside down, and the old one didn't work at all. I did a master reset to the head unit (found in settings), decapped the system (pull both cables *off* of the battery, and hold the ends together for a couple of minutes), and did another master reset and the camera displayed correctly. IDK if I just got lucky, but it worked for me.
Fixed this in less than 10 minutes on my 2013 Lincoln MKX. Take the plastic panel off the hatch. Mine only had 4 screws where the hand holds are; the rest are clips that come off with a little pulling on the panel itself. Find the camera harness -- disconnect it and leave it off. Start the car. Put the car in reverse; you will get a "backup camera not working" message or whatever it says. Put back in park and turn car off. Reconnect the harness. Now check it again. If it works, put everything back together. It worked for me with zero issues. Hopefully it works for you and saves you a trip to the dealer, or buying a new camera.
@@bradgan9835 Sorry for the late reply. It worked for a bit, but it kept messing up. I ended up ordering a new camera. They're pretty cheap. That's your best option TBH.
About a yr ago, my camera flipped upside down on my 2013 Ford Taurus Limited. Ford wanted me to drop off my car so they could rake me over the coals in labor charges and a expensive OEM camera. The glitch is not in the system, but its in the camera (part) itself. First, I tried on the old camera to flip it around and it worked, but the problem was right was left and left was right on the camera. I was really confused and just say no that's not gonna work. Came on Amazon, even though I thought this was a Ford dealer specialty item, but NO Amazon had them. I was looking to pay at least half a dealers price, but to my surprise WOW the price was great, so I took a chance to see if this was a system or a camera problem, so now I know it a camera problem, because it worked flawlessly. I hope that this review help those with upside down camera issues.
Not sure if this will work for everyone, I went to the Home Screen-settings-camera settings- It shows enhanced park aids and rear camera delay. I just switched the settings from where they are. If it’s on, Turn it off, if it’s off, Turn it on. This fixed it for me. I had to switch the settings 3 times and now it’s been 4 days with normal view.
I don't have a fix but Ford Sync is the biggest pile of crap I've even seen on a car. I will never buy a Ford just because they thought this system was good enough to put on new cars. My dad has a 2013 F150 King Ranch and mom has a 2015 Edge. Bluetooth on both are virtually unusable. There's no rhyme nor reason to when it works and when it doesn't. If feels like solving a Tomb Raider puzzle every time I get in one. Master Reset, turn off key, turn on key, open door for 30 seconds. It is unreal.
The only thing worth watching in this video was the golf cart. At first I was upset because I thought why do we have to see this type of junk when I am concerned about my car. Then I saw the rest of the video.
I came across this video looking for ideas when my rear camera on my 2016 Escape started to send a distorted picture and upside down views. I first reset the sync system and that did not correct the problem. I did order a new back up camera. The replacement was not difficult and that corrected the problem.
I have a 2013 Ford C-Max with the same problem. I replaced it with another used C-Max camera and it is back to working. Resetting the camera settings in preferences in Sync did not make it work either in Sync 2 or Sync 3. It is a camera problem in my case and not wires or a bad ground. The upside down was random at first and would sometimes fix itself. I think. it was worse in the heat. It became progressively worse with time until permanent.
I just worked on a friends 11’ ford edge. I just flipped the camera upside down. A little trimming of the housing and it works fine. She’s happy as hell with it.
I have a 2014 Ford Taurus where my camera suddenly was upside-down could not find a way to fix it until I took it apart flip it upside down myself. it doesn't have the parking lines but it works all I did was flip the camera upside down and found a bracket to hold the camera in place so far so good it works.
@@thelagbot1695 2011 Ford Taurus Limited. Same problem. I like the lines, so I haven't figured out how to fix it. My buddy at a Ford Dealer can get me anew on for $350 and that's at cost. Still seems like a lot.
Anyone know where the camera Head Unit is on the C Max? I keep reading that if it's not a faulty camera it may be the cable connection at the Head Unit. Maybe it's a bad ground connection. Poor grounds can cause all kinds of weird problems.
Had the same issue myself but after a few weeks the camera started working again the right way so I had to turn it back around right side up but I noticed when I washed the car it kind of goes back to being upside down and after a day or two it goes back to normal
Yes it did! Saays "driver door ajar" - and it's not. the warning is on 99% of the time. I can't remember the cost to fix but it's WAAAAY too much. But, it causes all kinds of electrical issues. One night the car alarm went off with it parked in the garage and on one in the area. One time the lights came on for a bit, then went off. No one was near the car. Had it reprogrammed for $120 which lasted several hours, then back to "ajar" again.
I don’t think it has to do anything with the system, it’s the camera itself went bad. I flipped mine around and it’s still upside down so it has to be some magnetic stuff inside the camera that it’s doing the upside down. Best bet is to buy a new camera.
I tried taking out this fuse on my 2012 Edge and it didn't work. I'm glad I found this video though. I thought someone had messed with my car at Walmart LOL. Nonetheless, it's irritating that it's upside down.
Sync reset did not work. Pulling the fuse and reinstalling it did (edit: for a short time. See update below). I have a 2014 Flex SEL. The fuse is #34 under the driver's side dash. I has to contort to get to it. Literal pain in the back. I could not get my arm/wrist/fingers in the correct position to reinstall the fuse. Ended up using a curved set of needle nose pliers to get it back in. The camer image is now right-side-up. Next time I'll try disconnecting the battery. Someone did mention that somewhere. Update: It worked for few hrs the flipped. It intermittently works fine upside-down, or black screen - nor at all. I've seen some videos regarding a bad ground wire on the camera. I may look into that. I don't have the time to mess with it now. Will update again later.
I have a similar video problem with my explorer...it shows the opposite image...so everything in the right side is shown on the left side...I thought there was an option to reverse the image but I guess it's just a glitch too?
I flip my camera upside down finally bracket to hold it in place and it works. Parking lines don't work . but it still works if you flip the camera Play Down and find a bracket to hold it in place
My camera started working the right way again so I had to turn it around back right side up and it has Lane options and everything . but one thing I know it is is that every time I watch the car the camera goes back to being upside down after a few days it goes back to normal
The backup camera on my 2015 Taurus works sometimes . Today when I put the car in reverse I got the blue screen ,but I had to go in the trunk to get something and when I slammed the trunk lid down it started working maybe it’s a loose ground somewhere.
Same here on my 2013 Ford Edge SEL. But it went upside down after SAfelight installed a new front windshield. Wonder if they had anything to do with it.

I put in the Doorman 592-000 and it is STILL UPSIDE DOWN!! I have taken my F-150 to two different dealerships to see if they can get the computer to fix the problem. No luck there!
Just tried this but unfortunately worked for a moment only. In fact, it shows the camera upside up but as I maneuver in reverse a pop up message appears saying "camera not available, contact your dealership" (or something around those lines)
I have a 2013 Ford Taurus limited as well and have this same problem it usually doesn’t display the backup picture but when it does it’s blurry and upside down. So weird!! Has anyone fixed this issue?
2015 Taurus SE same issue. I tried a master reset through settings. no luck. I thought it might be a short. Sometimes I get green filter lines. hard stops in reverse and camera pic can roll/jump. And it works just fine sometimes as well.
@@robertstilwell6596 when the problem first started, I would turn the camera off in my settings and then turn it back on. My rear view camera is not working and the cd player and hazard lights buttons are not working too, some ideas?, It's not the fuse i checked and disconnect the battery and all that, some help will really appreciate it
My Ford Edge worked perfectly since 2013, but once someone "gently" rear-ended me at a stop light, the camera began acting strangely. It always works when I start the car and back out of the garage, but travel a few blocks and then try to back into a parking space, and the camera is either blank, you get the can't connect message, or the image is upside down. After viewing another video I think the issue is that the little ground wire to the camera got shook loose, and now has intermittent connection to the ground...tell your dealer to check the ground from the camera to the body of the car...
The Lincoln dealership told me the computer needed to be reflashed. Hour labor so about $140 in Houston. I haven't brought it in yet so I don't have a for sure result at the moment
Get it in writing that you owe nothing if that doesn't fix it or guess what, paying to watch tv in their lounge for an hour. Bet they won't write it down!
My camera is NOT upside down but it shows the things on the right side on the left side of my camera which is no help at all. I took it to the Ford dealer and they didn't know how to fix it either
This happens to my Ford. I put a heavy duty magnetic phone holder on my vent and a day later my camera went upside down. I’m thinking this could have caused the glitch anyone else experience after putting a magnet?
Go to SETTINGS and then VEHICLE and then REAR VIEW CAMERA. Under REAR CAMERA delay select off then turn your car off and restart engine. Camera should then be flipped back and you can switch REAR CAMERA DELAY back to on or keep it off. Should work both ways now.
I had the same problem, with the added symptoms of sometimes no picture from camera, and sometimes picture right side up but without guidelines. I also had to replace the camera. Was covered under warranty on my 62k mile 2016 Flex.
Just happened on my 2017 Transit 150. One day it's fine, next day it's upside down. Personally I don't need the goddamn thing. I've been driving for decades without a rear camera. Some people just can't stop backing over children in their driveway..
My apologies I got tied up changing both catalytic converters. I did manage to figure out that the camera itself doesn’t have any problems but that it is actually the harness that causes it. At least for mine, the corrosion caused the inverted camera image. I basically used a new cable for the ground and reset the unit and all was fine. I eventually want to swap out all the cables. Hope that helps.
@@kjahadi not sure if this at all helps but I just replaced the camera itself on my 2011 taurus and it fully fixed the issue. I think water got inside the original camera unit before I bought it.
My 2011 Ford edge limited is doing the same thing. I've tried the fuses, tried disconnecting the battery to reset it. Nothing worked so I just went on ahead and ordered a new camera I'm installing myself.

I watched the freaking thing just so u tell me u don’t know how to fix the shit
50k views just to ask whast the solution ? LAME !
I don't know how to fix this but I clicked on this because this has just started happening to mine
The camera software needs reconfigured. It's a simple fix, the dealer should have known about it
How ?
Ya your sound is encoded way too low. Other videos are better
2:53 minutes of a hole lot of nothing.
it's a bad camera or head unit, most likely camera.
Take off the negative battery terminal cable for a Milan put it back on it work on mine 6/1/21
How long did it last?
WTF WASTE EVERYONE'S TIME!
There should simply be a flip orientation option in the settings
Nope
@@1946miko Why not?
Older radio no flip option
@@1946miko I'm just saying it would be a nice feature to have for when the backup camera eventually flips it's orientation.
@@cube193 wish the hell there was a option setting that flips it ….
The best way to fix, is RIP the S.O.B out and send it to Ford R & D. What a RIP off.
The Lincoln dealership told me the computer needed to be reflashed. Hour labor so about $140 in Houston. I haven't brought it in yet so I don't have a for sure result at the moment
Do you have an update?
That won’t fix it
?
Get it in writing that you owe nothing if that doesn't fix it or guess what, paying to watch tv in their lounge for an hour. Bet they won't write it down!
And it takes 10 mins to reflash the computer most would do it for free go somewhere else
My camera is NOT upside down but it shows the things on the right side on the left side of my camera which is no help at all. I took it to the Ford dealer and they didn't know how to fix it either
Me too and I can't seem to find a fix
Mine is black or upside down
Replace the camera....less than $100
I already tried that and it still is upside down 😪
This happens to my Ford. I put a heavy duty magnetic phone holder on my vent and a day later my camera went upside down. I’m thinking this could have caused the glitch anyone else experience after putting a magnet?
I have never had a magnet near mine and it’s doing this. Seems like a pretty common problem. Just a malfunction in their system it seems
It begin to happen after I installed a magnet mount too... Who would know?
I turned car off turned it back on & it's back to normal (Ford Taurus)
Easy fix. Just turn your camera upside down, you're welcome 😅
Last time it literally turned off and glitched like some sort of edit for a animated picture, it's a 2015 and it's nice, but the camera
Are you serious!
Can I have my 2:53 back..
What a waste of time
Turn the entire vehicle upside down 🤣
lol
Tried that, didn't work.
😂🤣😂🤣👍👍👍
You don't have to turn the entire car upside down.... just flip the tailgate over. Looks stupid but works.
Thanks that worked just fine for me , give this man a beer please !
My mom has a Ford Edge and doesn't have that issue at all.
What an absolute waste
Sounds like a recall
This is absolutely useless!
Backup camera what backup camera
I think I might have found the problem. Will test it out over the weekend to be sure.
Ok let me know if it works
?
So what happened
Did it work
My apologies I got tied up changing both catalytic converters.
Just disconnect the harness at the camera, started the car up, shut it off plugged the harness back in and bam it works, not upside down anymore
Where is the harness to the camera located??
Thank you.
Didn’t work for me
Temporary fix
Same issue when it’s working, now my camera dosent work ~_~
We had the same issue.. initially it was upside down. Then it stopped working intermittently. Now the thing doesn't even work at all.
@@kjahadi not sure if this at all helps but I just replaced the camera itself on my 2011 taurus and it fully fixed the issue. I think water got inside the original camera unit before I bought it.
What a waste
Frustrating. 2011 with same issue. If someone figures out a fix, please post.
CLICKBAIT
My 2011 Ford edge limited is doing the same thing. I've tried the fuses, tried disconnecting the battery to reset it. Nothing worked so I just went on ahead and ordered a new camera I'm installing myself.
Did the nee camera fix the problem?
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have an 2012 Sel model with the same issue
