  • Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz will play Casper Ruud in the Miami Open final after beating Poland's defending champion Hubert Hurkacz for the biggest result of his flourishing career.
The 18-year-old won 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-2) in just over two hours against Hurkacz to reach his first Masters 1000 final.
Alcaraz will become the tournament's youngest ever champion if he beats Norway's world number eight Ruud, 23.
"It's something that you dream of when you are a child," said Alcaraz.
Alcaraz trailed 5-3 in the first set tie-break but won four straight points. He then saved two break points at 5-5 in the second set before dominating the tie-break.
"I'm going to approach the final like a first round, trying to mask the nerves," the world number 16 added. "I'm going to enjoy it, it's going to be a great final."

Fearless like Rafa, subtle like Federer and a demeanor like the Djoker. What a combo to have.

no one really has a demeanor like the djoker. its more of a hybrid of rafa and djokovic.

Carlos is obviously a force to be appreciated.
The hitting partner on the other side is pretty serious too. Very impressive.

Nadal’s speed and fight + Federer’s aggressiveness and brilliance + Djokovic’s flexibility and movement = Alcaraz

Fascinating. Do you think they ask the hitting partner to give them the kind of ‘ball’ they’d be expecting from the next opponent. So is the hitting partner imitating Ruud’s spins and flight?

So most of times the coach would ask the hitting partner (if they are not ranked players) to feed the ball the way he want.

I think the serve is carlos' weak point, needs work in power, but overall he's making us Spanish to feel less sad about the fact Nadal is 36 (I don't remember if he's 36 this year or if he will turn 37) but he's closer to retirement now. Carlos could be the next Nadal no doubt
