Exactly and should be involved with the Champions Classic that MSU (I don’t know how they’re a blue blood), Duke, KU and UK. UNC is another one that should be in.
I've always seen UConn as a blue blood. They've been the dominant team in the Big East for the past thirty years except for a handful of years when Villanova and Syracuse had better teams. Connecticut would be a hypothetical 5.5 favorite against Purdue.
UCONN, Kentucky, Duke, Carolina and Kansas are the main blue blood college basketball schools. If none of those schools win the title, it would be a great NCAA tournament.
Stephen A has zero clue what he’s talking about when it comes to college basketball. He started talking about history and then didn’t include UCLA and then also put Duke above UConn when he probably doesn’t even realize UConn’s 6th would be more than Duke all time
Duke is top 5 in wins, final fours, elite eights, weeks ranked, championships, tournament appearances and more. Uconn isn't top 10 in ANY of those except titles and final fours. Uconn having one more title than duke doesn't make them more of a blue blood than duke, that is beyond asinine. They have missed the tournament 8 times in this century for crying out loud
I really want to see UConn vs NC State for both men’s and women’s basketball national championships. The same exact matchup for both college basketball national championships in the same year. I don’t think that has ever happened before.
yeah, I miss having some of the bigger schools in the Big East with UCONN and all. Syracuse, PItt, WVU, they all helped to put on an even greater show at MSG. Amazing memories, and I'm glad I could witness those tournaments.
UConn beat both Kentucky and Duke in title games, then beat Duke in a final-four matchup to go on to another title. so let's call them Blue Blood killers.
Not at all. Kansas, Kentucky, duke and North Carolina are the 4 blue bloods most people think of. UCLA and Indiana were once considered blue bloods but they’ve had long periods of inconsistency. UConn until recently has never been considered a blue blood
Stephen a smith just rambled on and said a bunch of nothing. He literally didn’t make any point or any sense at all. Like what was he saying ? If I’m not mistaken he actually somewhat contradicted himself ?
The interesting thing with UConn is they won their 5 championships off of only 6 final four appearances. (Potentially 6 out of 7 now) That efficiency is incredible and it seems like when they have great teams they are usually able to parlay that into a championship but they have made a lesser amount of deep runs then the other blue bloods. This could be the reason for the public hesitancy to call them a true blue blood. It feels like they aren’t a perennial power that is always good and never misses the tourney but just have very good teams every few years that are able to make the most of their opportunities.

Uhh since when do Duke and UNC have to go through each other to get to an NCAA title? Duke got swept by UNC this year, and still made it to the tournament in a different region. That is always usually the case. Even when neither UNC or Duke win the ACC, they still make the tournament.
Im sick of the 30-0 run talk. Uconn is great. They are clearly the favorite as they should be but why is everyone ignoring the fact Illinois just flat out quit. Watching that run all i think about was wow, how do you just give up like that.
Let's face it, Uconn will not be considered "blue blood" because they win championships with blue collar, zero star recruits who worked hard through college to improve their game. Blue blood programs get all the 5 star recruits, the one and done players. That's what people consider blue blood. Where are all the one and done players in this 2024 Final Four? Except for Stephon Castle, they are sitting at home working on their NBA Draft outfits.
That's why John Calipari said after Kentucky lost in the first round that teams that have players who have been in college for 3-4 years are much better off in the playoffs and win more compared to the "blue bloods" who are full of 18-19 year olds with no experience and lose in the first two rounds. If you want to be in college for only a year then yea go to Kentucky or Duke or North Carolina, but if you want to actually win and stay for more than a year, then the UConn program is King at the moment.
Blue blood is a made up term so everyone has their own definition. UConn gets plenty of “star recruits” and win plenty w/o 5 star recruits. Do you pay attention to CBB? UConn only cares about winning championships not a stupid made up term which is irrelevant.
I agree, but this all might start to change. Because the one thing they always had over UConn in attracting those kind of recruits was a reputation of excellence. Players knew those teams were perennially good and they would get the most attention from NBA scouts as well. But now that UConn has been so dominant for an extended period of time and is starting to get all the press, that paradigm might shift in their favor. Now, Hurley is a tough coach and won't put up with divas on his team for sure, but UConn may start to benefit from that reputation as well and become a desired destination for the best of the best entering college.

As for the other blue bloods like Kentucky, Duke, UNC, and Kansas even the years they don't win a chip their still for the most part winning at a high level.
