Oh boy....I've waited ALL morning for my FAV funeral lady's video.Terrific Tuesday.Terrific video.Love our Special lady...Kari!!!!Thank you for all the education...
Thank you once again, Kari! Always informative, and professional. My fave channel...
We had memorial service for my grandma. Her cremated remains were there. It was beautiful.
I wish my MIL had been cremated prior to her service. And this is NOT(I repeat, NOT)An MIL Gaffe at her expense!
But with the limited funds on hand and a burial out of reach, and those family members "in charge" of the logistics, the funeral home I guess viewed the former (particularly) in the way she was prepared for her viewing/service.
She honestly looked like she'd been in a brawl! I had no words, they just did a relatively hideous job! In contrast, my Uncle was cremated prior to the service(yes, it does get confusing how to determine, funeral, memorial), his ashes in a wooden box and a folded American flag(Army Vet, Korea)beside. Again, I wish it'd been the same for her, she has a beautiful Urn. Sorry to vent so long. :(
@@waynejones205 Im sorry this happened to her or him. To me the way they embalm a body to me is invasive and cruel, I don't want that for my body. Cremation is the way for me.
@@lauragadille3384 She, Mother In Law, why I pointed out, no MIL jokes. Embalming, from what I've learned from Mortuary vids, is not even Required in most states, just an extra for as long as services, wakes, etc., take. Decomp WILL take over! I've watched Caitlyn Doughty for the longest, and I'm new to Kari's site, but I'd want either of these ladies to be my Mortician! Caitlyn's taken MUCH fire from the industry pointing out things that aren't even necessary, underhanded practices without naming names, because the unscrupulous crowd can and Will POUNCE on a grieving family at the worst moment!!
My grandpa passed away from old age he was only 83 years he passed away other day he's in heaven right now not suffering or in pain anymore 😢 💔 😞 I'm sorry for your loss of your loss of your grandma rip my grandpa and dyour grandma 😢😢😢
Kari, you had such a sense of caring and kindness, along with a high level of professionalism, to a very important and emotional (for the family/friends) industry. My good friend passed 4 weeks ago. 50 years old. He had a traditional, open casket viewing and funeral. The mortuary did an amazing job on his embalming/cosmetics. He looked really peaceful and like he was sleeping. That was calming to his family, especially his kids. And me, of course. As a Christian, I know he wasn’t in that casket, but it hit me very hard, when his casket was closed for the final time. I sobbed openly, and I was really suprised at my emotional react at the viewing and the funeral. Yesterday, thinking of him in the cold ground, was so hard. After watching some videos from you and Lauren, I was brought back to a place of understanding. Thank you so much. 💜❤️🙏🏻✝️
I meant have, not had! Sorry about that!!!
Thank Kari for sharing. This clarification really helps. God Bless.
My grandpa passed away other day he was only 83 years old when he passed away he's in heaven right now not suffering or in pain anymore rip 🙏 💔 my grandpa 😢 💔 😢😢
Memorials are beautiful.
I never knew the difference, thank you so much - you rock!!
I'm glad I came across this video
** I am just starting to try to figure some of this stuff out now. Wife got a kidney transplant 9 months ago from a neighbor. Unfortunately other health issues . Kidney failed
Thankyou for clearing the two terms up.
Thank you
Thank you for posting this!!! It always bothers me whenever people confuse the two.
Not to be confused (at least by Kari’s followers) with Committal service at a Veteran’s cemetery. Both casket and cremated remains can be a part of this service, held the day of burial
Yes a committal service is the same term for casket or urn
Good morning Kari😀 good simple explanations of the two services...👌...they are referred often here as celebration of life service and just plain "funeral services for ____" tnx and a blessed day to you...
The celebration of life can be used for both actually also. You are always welcome Gary!
@@KaritheMorticianmy grandpa he had passed away from old age he was only 83 years old rip 🙏 🪦 my grandpa he's in heaven right now not suffering or in pain anymore 😢 💔 😞 😔 😪

Love and appreciate your videos
Thanks much
I didnt know that. Thank you. I learn so much from you. 😀
Thanks!!
Kari what the best life insurance a person can get?
I’m going to correct something. A Catholic funeral is still called a funeral even if the person was cremated. A memorial service (memorial Mass) in the Catholic Church doesn’t have the person there in any form. Sometimes there will be a catafalque present to stand in as the deceased which will be incensed and the normal prayers of absolution will be prayed as if the person were present.
Thank you for the input
Yes, the Catholic Church still calls it Funeral Service if the cremated remain is there. We do the prayer before the cremated urn immersed into the water (sea burial funeral prayer).
Awesome video
Thanks
What does it mean if there is a visatation an then a memorial service on the same day ? Does that mean the person was cremated ?
But the memorial service, the cremation is present right?
Not always
My grandpa passed away other day he was only 83 years old hes in a much better place now not suffering or in pain anymore rip 🙏 💔 my grandpa 😢 💔 😞 😔
I had this confusion a few months ago
For my friend's memorial and funeral service, he was present at both.
To me created remains is "present" and thus a funeral. And no body and no created remains is a memorial. Right or wrong. That is my opinion.
Love the Stain Glass in this Funeral Home Chapel
It seems there should be a term for “with cremated in remains”. Maybe an “see footnotes” or something. Sorry for my attempt at early morning humor.
"Cremains" is what I've heard.
🌻
It's a huge difference but people still get it confused 🤦🏽😭😄
We are going to have a celeb of life for my daughter. Been a month
❤
Leaders don't quit
Here's something to think about are the corporations That run funeral homes Love to use memorial in their name ScI is dignity memorial and Arbor memorials out of Canada
Honestly when my time is up and i'm gone, i don't want neither a memorial and funeral service. Keep it plain and simple. I know i'm gonna be gone like a John Doe...
Thank you
