My uncle lives in Venezuela. Restaurants and Oil is cheap but toilet paper cannot be found. Everything has ridiculously low prices while being out of stock. The country is on the brink of collapse. People continuously smuggle oil out of the country while oil fields are closing to mismanagent. I personally support socialism but the insane mismanagement that has arisen since Maduro seized power is unsustainable. In contrast to Chavez, Maduro was not democratically elected. We can't deny that Venezuela is in need of regime change.
That is the result of fucking 'free' market which is totally dominated by Large economies like China and USA. Recent lowering of rates of oil has affected Venezuela, may be they don't produce toilet paper according to the demand, so earlier they bought from other countries through dollars but now, as I have discussed about the low rates of oil, it is clear that Venezuela isn't making money that it did in previous times so they are unable to quench the thirst of demand.

@@shantanusingh5320 The problem of dropping oil prices already arose during the end of Chavez government. At the time, the country was rich enough to provide good health care and education, but it was already forseen that policy change was necessary to maintain prosperity. This is why after Chavez, a right-wing liberal party was elected that wanted to free up the economy to provide growth. Maduro staged a coup and brought the worst economic policies ever. Whenever a business started to fail, it was nationalised and given to some loyal general who knew nothing about running a business. The oil price within the country is fixed at 1 dollar per bolivar. Anyone with common sense in the country smuggles it out and sells it at a profit. It's a collection of dumb policies like this that ruin the country. Socialist polices are great, but they need to be applied at the right time in the right sector.
@@chigeh The problem isn't with socialism, it just seeks to provide the right wages to the labourers. I completely agree with you that they already knew about the fate of their country then also, they didn't produce according to their demand especially certain basic goods. I think if the right wing liberal was in power now, it could make the things worse. It doesn't matter whether a right wing or left wing party rule over Venezuela if they are not producing according to their demands, they will going to suffer. The problem with Right-wing Libertarians is that they provide growth but the large masses of labourers are allienated from their fruits of labor. And I am sure that current Venezuelan government must be trying to rebuild their economy through the ample amount of production of basic goods.
Why do you think is great journalism when he is ignoring the fact Venezuela is in this situation not because if imperialism, but because of Maduro’s inability to govern.
Whatever and however the report telling the story to put the blames on whoever they want... democrazy and human rights can't save Venezuela economy and help majority of the poor n suffering of Venezuelan people with all the US n US allies sanctions.. Venezuela only has 30M population it is just like the population size of a big Chinese city in China. This is a crazy idea but a workable idea why not Venezuelan people vote a referendum to make Venezuela to become a special territory/region of China like HK & Macau ... then with China it is Guaranteed Venezuela economy will grow positive every year and all Venezuela poverty will be eliminated in no time also (and soon all Venezuelan people can become very rich again like before) ... as a special territory of China in Latin America Venezuela will never ever be bullied by anyone again. Because as a special territory of China Chinese 2,000,000 modern , well trained n well equip soldiers can anytime fight off any foreign threats or interventions... and Venezuela doesn't have to spend money on defense budget either to protect themselves (every year all these heavy expenses of defense that doesn't work anyhow can be used for the well being of all Venezuelan people). This is a radical crazy idea and of cause it certainly will upset n anger the pro America political Venezuela ruling minority elites and anger Washington because of their self serving interests. But hey what the hack so many of the Latin America countries had been so racked by Washington foreign intervention and regime change policies n coup.. look what had happened to Honduras, Nicaragua, Chile in the past years etc ... there are no chance for smaller and defenseless Latin America countries to fence off US and US allies sanctions to 1st destroy their economies to cause the majority poor and ordinary people great sufferings (like what's happened to Venezuela ) that they want will the people revolting against the government US wants to overthrow for whatever reasons that serves US interests (at this case is to get access to Venezuela largest oil deposit, Gold mines & other valuable minerals for making technological components..).. military all these Latin America countries can't never able to defense themselves should US choose to invade them (these had already happened in the 50s, 60s) US military bases also have already surrounded the entire Venezuela from her neighboring countries... Anyway it looks to me that if there is no radical creative daring solution forth coming... Civil war in Venezuela is what going to happen next because the 8 to 9 millions supporters of President Maduro going to fight the minority of the rich pro America ruling opposition elite. If the civil ever breaks out there will be a long drawn destruction to Venezuela all the middle n upper middle class that backs US intervention they too will lose out because when bombs start dropping and bullets start flying they have no respector of poor people or rich people or any political affiliations. This is definitely a radical thinking outside the box for Venezuela long term peace n prosperity n security solutions why not give it a try... Election or changing the guards are not going to be able to overcomes so many problems Venezuela faces within your own country as well the many sanctions from outside the country *** PS:Don't worry about corruptions china also has corruption and yet China managed to lift well over 800 millions Chinese out of poverty according to latest UN report. Poor or mismanagement Chinese technocrats can assist to correct Venezuela systems and grow Venezuela economy to benefit Venezuelan living in Venezuela.
Let's be real. I'm venezuelan. Do you wanna claim this is about oil? Perhaps, everything in politics is about resources and money, that's never changed. The problem in hand is that Venezuelan ppl are suffering really bad. This a humanitarian crisis and there's not deniyng it. I understand you're worry about the domestic politics in the States and it's implications but we need to get Maduro and his ppl out of Venezuela. Plus, at the end of the day, I rather U.S to steal my share of the global oil market rather than China and Russia like the past 20 years. Don't make this issue an ideological one because is past beyond that point.
Are you against free and fair elections in Venezuela? When China take advantage of Venezuelan oil, it's OK? When Russia wants to keep Maduro in power to get some of the payments for the arms he bought, is that OK?
Pierre Lewin , US also does oil business same as China. We all know Russian weapons are better, y shouldn't they pay after buying. US brings imperialism and bombs. China brings business
It is larger than the US. Here is an example from the UN special investigation into Venezuela. In 2017 Venezuela had a malaria outbreak. "It is significant that when, in 2017, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela requested medical aid from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the plea was rejected, because it ”is still a high-income country ... and as such is not eligible”." The significance of this refusal is in the bio of the Vice Chair of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. "Ambassador John Simon is founder and managing partner of Total Impact Capital, an impact investing firm. He has served as United States Ambassador to the African Union, and as Executive Vice President of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). He previously served as a senior director in the U.S. National Security Council and as Special Assistant to the President." undocs.org/A/HRC/39/47/ADD.1 www.theglobalfund.org/en/board/

All people of Venazuela and South and Central America. Should take harsh actions against US corporations and US interests in your region. Take the same actions against those puppets who conspire with the US corporations and political entities.
Change my mind: I strongly condemn the US interference in Venezuela's affairs, and in general in the affairs of the world. I'm actually a leftist sympathizer. BUT... Look at the facts. The policies of Chavez and Maduro were economically crazy. Look at the data, up to 95% of the exports of Venezuela is oil... From a moral point of view, the welfare that Chavez introduced was wonderful, but economically it was a disaster... He wasted the revenue of high oil prices, giving it as free welfare, that is unsustainable in the long term, instead of investing it in new infrastructures, in new industries, services and so on. Moreover, his price fixing policies resultes in many private firms being forced to close. It's not about socialism in my opinion, the USSR was also socialist, but the fluctuation of oil prices was never so disasterous for the country, because it had a lot of other things.

If you actually follow politics instead of just the parth you follow you'll know that guaido has been a member of parliament for like 12 years. And you'll remember that the parliament was won by the opposition with a land slide victory for the first time in like 17 years but 3 days later Mauro created a new parliament that was chosen by him....
This is great piece of journalism. It’s not always being on the frontlines, also reminding people the destabilizing terrorism conducted by the Yankees throughout the world.
American Presidents come and go; the sociopaths who really run things either never leave, or come and go at will. That clip of Abrams with his head thrown back and roaring with laughter says it all: "I'm untouchable, you moron!"
This is the best account yet of the U.S. Mugging of Venezuela! - Congratulations!
This pig is a communist.
I also was in Venezuela.. la jente dont have shit .. and this socialist lazy mierda should shut his mouth.
Viva Venezuela viva freedom
Thank you Trump Help la jente

Excellent work Intercept! You guys are doing great work in a time when "journalists" are at war with their own craft.
abrams, a track record of imperialism......
"The 'Yankee' Plot" I like the sound of that.
Excellent exposé. Thank you for your wonderful work and for a clear dissection of the real facts not alternative ones

Wow, didn't expected this channel was so good. Subscribed.
The complicity of silent.
When Dems praise Trump, it’s enough to smell fishy. I like your style of report, simple, logical and clear.
Great journalism. Keep it up! These videos are refreshing.
Why do you think is great journalism when he is ignoring the fact Venezuela is in this situation not because if imperialism, but because of Maduro’s inability to govern.
It's funny how the American public will eat up the same lines again and again 😴
How long will we put up with these BS take overs CHEERS
Thanks for publishing, Intercept. It's not easy being a media outlet sharing the truth.
Notorious neo-conservative?? Does anyone actually consider this news?? What a joke
Mike Pence... YOU do NOT represent the American people with this rhetoric. Hands off Venezuela!
Election or changing the guards are not going to be able to overcomes so many problems Venezuela faces within your own country as well the many sanctions from outside the country
*** PS:Don't worry about corruptions china also has corruption and yet China managed to lift well over 800 millions Chinese out of poverty according to latest UN report.
Poor or mismanagement Chinese technocrats can assist to correct Venezuela systems and grow Venezuela economy to benefit Venezuelan living in Venezuela.
The Intercept is spot on, very objective very factual, thank you
Let's be real.
Just remember , the crisis is because of the U.S, They laid there plan years ago, made it twist like magic
US: 'on behalf of our beloved oil companies.... I mean people! Handed over your oil!"
Are you against free and fair elections in Venezuela?
When China take advantage of Venezuelan oil, it's OK?
When Russia wants to keep Maduro in power to get some of the payments for the arms he bought, is that OK?
Pierre Lewin , they dont bomb the country
Pierre Lewin , US also does oil business same as China.
We all know Russian weapons are better, y shouldn't they pay after buying.
US brings imperialism and bombs. China brings business

Are you against free and fair elections in Venezuela?
The rest is rhetoric.
It is larger than the US. Here is an example from the UN special investigation into Venezuela. In 2017 Venezuela had a malaria outbreak.
"It is significant that when, in 2017, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela requested medical aid from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the plea was rejected, because it ”is still a high-income country ... and as such is not eligible”."
The significance of this refusal is in the bio of the Vice Chair of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
"Ambassador John Simon is founder and managing partner of Total Impact Capital, an impact investing firm. He has served as United States Ambassador to the African Union, and as Executive Vice President of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). He previously served as a senior director in the U.S. National Security Council and as Special Assistant to the President."

Good thing the people of Venezuela arn’t starving or anything like that
0:38 I think the most effective way to counter this is to point out that the oil from the "war on terror" went to Europe.
Jeremy.. brilliant report, and great set of statements to balance and/or call out mainstream media's lack of details on this topic. Thank you!
Very good and true review my friend keep it up and good luck my friend . Trump and company hands off Venezuela .
Thumbs up for the very good video. Not thumbs up for what the United States is doing. It’s incredibly disturbing.
There's no democratic bud who compares to wonderful Prince Salman of Saudi Arabia! The USA is free to choose its friends...
When Mike Pence said "hola" I died a little
I was wondering which country the next US President will invade. Oh here it is.
It can only get better compared to what it is now!
Canada is following America's lead. Pitiful
US Corporate interest at work. UGH!
If this was in the Star Trek universe, this would be classified as a violation of the Prime Directive.
I totally agree with this video! Yes that is true!
What?! Someone with huge balls to actually tell the true?! Damn. I wish I knew about the intercept before! Let's spread the word! No coup in Venezuela!
You mean finally we are standing up for Democracy.
No we're not. Maduro was elected.
Yah? So was Kim Jung Un. Just because there was an election doesn’t mean it was fair . Maduro rigged that shit
@@Bigdogspyke It depends who you believe about that. The US side says it was rigged - they happen to have a vested interest. The independent observers say it was ok - they have no vested interest.
Holy Lord... Debbie Wasserman-Schultz trying to lecture someone on "TRAMPLING DEMOCRACY?" BAHAHAHAHAHAAH
"Jesus told me where to invade" Pence
Intercept please do more videos that are longer. I find 1 video from you every 1-2 weeks, they're like 10 mins long... but your content is good I want to see more.
It is not America es el pueblo de Venezuela que lo quiere fuera. You eat great meat. El pueblo de 🇻🇪 sufre de hambre. Y hay que apoyar al pueblo no al tirano que destrullo un país tan rico.
This Juan person makes my blood pressure go up every time he speaks
You're probably the most truth spoken person ever.stay safe and as everyone knows it's all for oil which makes sense to support such a big economy of America which is oil based government have to take such measures.american economy is fuelled by riches and blood of others.its time now people and governments should start using alternate energy resources to power our cars factories.companies like Tesla should be subsidized to promote cheaper and clean and environmental friendly energy.
It's 21st century and in democracy like this still it's a law of jungle if you are strong you devour other.people need to be awake to save our future our planet we all same race.why is it hard to share and promote peace.
Another good report, thank you
Salute to your True Journalism!!! US Gov is getting up in its evilness levels...
#BDS
THANKS JEREMY FOR LETTING US PEOPLE KNOW THE TRUETH!!
You said it’s open imperialism.
Have you ever thought maybe we just want to help the Venezuela?
Remove a dictator from power?
I guess stoping Hitler was also “open imperialism”
I´m Venezuelan, I´ve been suffering this mess my whole life, and I completely assure you that this mess was not created by the economical sanctions or by a sistematized pressure and targeting by the US. This mess was created by incredible corruption levels and horrific economic measures, so YES, Maduro needs to be taken out. I think the US is doing an excellent job at stabilizing the region and maintaining democracy on a years-long ally. It doesn´t matter if they want a cut in the oil business available here, that´d boost Venezuela economy too, there are always interests in between.
Venezuela is a sad situation because we can't take their oils

I live in Trinidad, literally 6km from Venezuela and despite our government deciding to not get involved we the citizens think it is totally unfair what the USA is doing. Ppl should wake up and realize they do this to any country they wish to exploit. Despite the President. Let's all Unite!
US OUT OF EVERYWHERE
I wish Venezuela would stage a coup of the US
Thanks for the NEWS
thumbs up
Great video my friend ! Very true
Just because the US is once again playing Team America doesn't mean that Maduro isn't actually a dictator.
Nice to see you again scahill like a cup of cold water on a sunny morning
I tuned out when I saw the implication and stated view of Putin as a dictator like all the others presented. That's simply insulting.
The people of Venezuela do not want maduro they want to change however the dictator refuses to let democracy take it’s course and he has established his own assembly to re-write the constitution he needs to go
This is disgusting. People wonder why America is so hated across the world.
It's kinda neat that I happened to be reading Manufacturing Consent just as all of this began. I read in the book about how the media supports and justifies American imperialism and then immediately get to see those processes in action.
Huge fan! You guys do a great job! Agree with everything you said but must ask... do the end justify the means? Would the people of Venezuela be better off under different leadership? Please reply
I was a lifelong democrat. And a patriot. No more.
Right outcome is Maduro goes and takes Trump with him, both venal incompetents.
We all need to take the next step and actually do something that can stop these psychopaths. Grassroots political action is now critical.
Mind your Business Pence!!!!! Let's take care of our own and give moral support to us!
