I stopped going to scrap yard a couple years ago & just pay to dump at landfill as part of truck weight at there recycling because city landfills are accompanied by little pick up trucks with magnets & they activately true to reduce nail, screws, random metal, bolts ect vs scrap yard that doesn't. Almost 2 tires a week down to anywhere from weeks to months on average for tire problems & I don't go over 15 in landfill & pro activately try to miss every little anything I can & don't do distracted driving in landfill for anything & stay on tire gaurd duty. So much cheaper & less stressful...

Sucks man but repairs are going to happen. At least you have the funds to do such repair. Im sure alot of junk removal companies wouldn't have an extra 1k.

My box truck just needed a gas tank due to metal flying up and puncturing thru. $900 repair but it was doable even though it's slow.

Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to go scrap metal.
I started calculating it, the time it takes, the cost of the repairs… here it is yes but not where scrap is so low like on the west coast

They don't pay enough in Arizona to make it worth it. Your right, they don't pay well for scrap metal out here..
