Who would have ever thought such a powerful sound could come from such a tiny human? Absolutely one my favorites, Avril and this particular song is high on the list. As for the seemingly unjust popularity for THIS song. I was a DJ back then, had been for 4 years or so, the music scene I think just didn't want to accept Avril fully. I think her rise to stardom so quickly pissed off a lot of Punk/Rock style artists at the time and thought of her music as not "dark" enough, more like a blueprint for what the big record labels wanted the genre to be. Quite the opposite was true, Avril fought with the label and songwriters, stylists, everything to get the sound and look the way SHE wanted it. It was true to herself, it was not corporate influence. This song in particular was so good, but at the same time, there were likely many other HUGE smash hits and when the competition is really high, even a great song might just not be able to get the attention it deserves? Maybe I am wrong, I don't know how to lookup historical Charts from when Losing Grip was charting to see what the competition was. Avril still holds the most sold Album in Canada in the 21st Century, even ahead of Justin Bieber and other prominent Canadian artists, Celine Dion, etc.
She was always a Guilty pleasure for me. I didnt want to like her music... But she has catchy music and well Shes Haawwt! always has been. great reaction mate. Have a great day
Please speak on why you didn't want to like her Music. I feel this was a big deal back then, as I said and went into detail in my standalone comment here on the video. I know 7 months ago this comment, but hoping for reply, read my other comment and thanks. And yes I totally agree, I loved it, but at that time, being a DJ I shy'd away from it, because a lot in her Genre were not happy at all with her success, blaming corporate influence in her style and sound, but that really was NOT the case at all, she fought them to look and sound like she wanted and she won! And it was wildly successful.
In regards to that my family was particular to what we listened to music wise. And her style of music was not really allowed in my family per say. So my experience is more so based on personal likes and dislikes that had to be adhere to not upset the balance of my Families... "Norm"@@xxcrazy_critr6661
Losing Grip was the first song of her first album...IMO it was a really good starter track and is one of the best of that album...a lot of people always think Sk8er Boi or Complicated are better but IMO i feel those are kind of over played...people got so obsessed with those two that now they feel a bit too tiresome...there is only so many times you can hear a track on the radio before you get fed up of it...and i heard Sk8er Boi LOADS of times...but Losing Grip not so much.

Very nostalgic music for me. I love "Losing Grip"! Weird that it wasn't as popular. I thought this was one of her best songs.

Anyone else remember watching Mtv Making The Video and they stuck hair to a massive camera to show her POV 😂
